I love this place so much, we live down the street walking distance. The food was great the guys working were very nice and welcoming. We could tell they were new so our food took a little long to get, I was understanding of that. What I did not appreciate was the owner just looking over his workers and telling them whats wrong. He couldve stepped in and helped, model the work for them. I had ordered the crunchy roll and it took an hour to get, our original server had taken it to a different table so I had to wait longer. At the end, another server, (he seemed like he was training our server) took care of the bill he said he would take the crunchy roll out, I didnt ask him to but it was a nice gesture. When the bill came it had the crunchy roll and when I asked him, I thought you said youd take it off the owner came up to us and said they dont normally do that because its a restaurant and situations happen. I then responded, The server said he would take it off, I waited a long time and it got taken to a different table. He then started talking a different language with the server who got my bill and I could only think he was badmouthing me. I explained to the young server, We love your food its amazing, it seems there are new people so I understand the turn around time is not ideal. He said thank you and also seemed nervous afterward, dont know if he got in trouble for taking the item off of our bill. I still left them a good tip. My intention is not to badmouth the guys working. I appreciated all of them and again the food was well worth it. We would come back again, hopefully then the service will be more efficient. But the owner...he was not nice, did not seem nice to his workers and not understanding. Maybe other people take advantage, we were not trying to take advantage. Kudos to the team serving, making the food, taking phone orders. No hard feelings, you guys are awesome!

August 27, my husband and I were looking for Japanese Restaurant that we have never been and closed proximity to where we lived --- to have a nice dinner after a long day of work, Alas! We found the I Sushi across from Southwestern College in Chula Vista. We got seated right away next to the entrance door, and as soon as we got seated, a server (I could be wrong, but you can recognize people that can ruin your day) asked us for our drinks, and we went ahead and ordered our main course as well. After about 10 minutes or more, my husband food was served but still no drinks. As he was waiting for our server to come back, she never did and not once said anything the status of our drinks and food and why it was taking it so long. We patiently waited for our drinks for approximately 8 minutes.I told my husband to ask another server to get our drinks. Oh yeah, at that time I was still waiting for my appetizer. As I was looking around I noticed the sushi chef had finished making my Sushi but still sitting top at the sushi counter --- I thought to myself I can get up and grab it, but I patiently waited for a server to deliver our meal, but she never grab my order, so I asked the other waiter to help us out. The first waiter who supposed to be our server never came back to our table and never told us what was going on and why she stop serving us. She completely ignored us. So, when I got my main course, my husband had finished his sushi rolls and still no drinks. So, I have to ask again about his order and yes, my appetizer (shrimp tempura), you can tell the moment it got to our table that these orders were sitting at the kitchen waiting for the waiter to be picked up and to be served to us. My appetizer that supposed to be there first was not crispy, and it was cold and saggy.I told the waiter to send it back in the kitchen. We finished our meal, but I will not let her (server) to ruin my night. I got my check and still leave 20% tips to the other waiter who helped us out. Also, thanks to him, he decided to comp my tempura. I hope the management will do something about her (waiter with the long hair) that is not willingly cooperating and lack of respect for others. I will stop come back to the restaurant because I do believe on second chances.

Been here once before years ago but that mustve been under different management or employees. It was cool the 1st time. I went the other day, ordered and waited for over 30 mins for my food. The employees spent more time chatting & having fun than actually waiting on customers. When the food came out, it was as cold as ice but when asked, the waiter said the sauce made the meat cold but Im pretty sure it was the 30 min wait- this is my first time ever being served a cold taco and it was pretty gross- I wanted to walk tf out... but stayed and gave them another chance. The crabcakes were pretty soft & mushy, unlike the crispy description. And the gyoza was covered in this nasty, yellow, mustardy sauce- Im sure it wouldve been good if they put the sauce on the side. I definitely wont be back again. Also, the pictures of sushi are of a different restaurant. This Japanese joint has NO sushi but they have Korean beef...so expect korean food from this Japanese place

Zero stars if I could. HARD PASS find somewhere else if u could. Told me it would take 45 mins for a sushi roll to go. This place is wack!!! I told the lady at the front that I am just asking for food to go but she told me we cant put your food in front of others. I understand you busy and dont have seating but it shouldnt take that long to make a sushi roll. I asked if I could order and pay and if it cant come out in time for me to get back to work for lunch in time can i just get a refund or something. she still said no because what if they make the food. Idk thats crazy if i order and you cant get the order to go in 30 mins then thats your guys bad. I Google this place and drove over from my lunch break they should have some kind of disclaimer on google or yelp so people dont drive all the way there to order. Their customers service is not ok something is up with how their managing their store. Their restaurant is full to capacity every table is occupied. probably more than their allowed to have during the pandemic. Its a super small place and there were definitely like 50-75 people in there. kinda shady!!!

I have had different sushi rolls here many times and I wouldn’t really consider this a sushi restaurant despite the name. The sushi doesn’t taste very good and falls apart easily. Overpriced for what you are getting. The ramen is much tastier though. There are definitely a lot of better sushi/Japanese restaurants in San Diego.

Superb service and excellent food. We had a mix of sushi rolls, tuna nigiri, spicy garlic edamame, shrimp Gyozo, (not so) spicy miso soup and green tea. I had two Japanese beers as nice accompaniments. I probably will pass on the ramen next time but everything else made up for the somewhat bland soup. The place is fairly rooming with inside and patio seating available by the sushi bar and regular bar are closed; although, I believe I saw a couple of restaurant workers eating at the regular bar.

The food is okay. Customer service here was NOT GOOD. My girlfriend ordered something she never tried before and didnt really like it. She said it tasted kind of funny and didnt finish her food. I let one of the waiters know that she didnt really like it and if theres something we can do about it. I was expecting for them to offer a discount or something else on the menu but they didnt. The waiter was in shock and in hesitation to my feedback on one of the dishes and ended up just saying because she already ate out of it and there isnt really a problem or issue they cant do anything. My girlfriend was a bit embarrassed and I just said okay and asked for the receipt and left. I didnt ask for the manager and feel like making a scene. I still tipped our other waiter for doing okay job but this was ridiculous. Customer service is important especially in the food industry. This place needs to get their stuff together and start treating their customers with more RESPECT if they want us to return. We are NEVER coming here again. Theres way better places with way better customer service. Good luck Okama
Sushi Roll

Pros:• Cleanliness• Attentive service• Selection of platesCons:• Unflavorful dishes• Over flavored dishes• Hovering owner/managerI tried this place since it was recommended to me and was quite disappointed. I understand that this is a fusion restaurant, but the majority of the dishes left me dissatisfied. The chicken in a rice plate my brother ordered was actually the only thing that scored my pallet. The Nigiri of the unagi left me discontent. It is one of my favorites especially from Japan. Except this one was drenched in eel sauce and barely grilled. The ikura was another that was a let down. The so-called gyozas didnt even resemble it. It seemed more like a chinese-american fried wonton. The magic tofu was not one bit crunchy and was drenched in its own sauce that it fell apart. the sauce itself was not that good either. The ebi tempura was another let down with it being soggy than crispy which tastes like it was microwaved. The majority of the westernized sushi mainly had cream cheese and didnt really appeal to me. I tired the bunny roll and the ika dragon roll both were unsavory. The ika tasted like I was eating US macaroni salad and the bunny was terrible. The salmon and the tuna in the bunny was unflavorful yet with the sauces that were dribbled on made it taste awful. I did happen to notice the owner or manager hovering around every so often and made the atmosphere unwelcoming. Unfortunately, I would not be coming back here for Japanese food

Good Japanese food for a take out restaurant.
