Zen Toro Japanese Bistro
132 E St #100, Davis, CA 95616, United States
My favorite sushi/Japanese restaurant in Davis. While pricier than other sushi places, Ive never had a bad meal here. I usually stick to the sushi rolls here, but they have a great variety of full dinner options like udon and bento boxes. Service has always been pleasant and reasonable (sometimes slower when really busy, but to be expected). Definitely recommend if you havent tried them. Their restaurant might seem hidden at first since its sunken below street level in the complex behind Mishkas.
Yuchan Shokudo (formerly Yakitori Yuchan)
109 E St, Davis, CA 95616, United States
This is a popular restaurant in Davis. The Japanese theme is fisian. I live in Jakarta and have many authentic Japanese restaurants. I thought this was OK but not spectator. The calamari was disappointing. The giaoza and agedasha tofu were ok. The fried Udon and Chicken were good. The sake was excellent. My recommendation is to go in with low expectations and be surprised. Very nice saki. The veg is better.
Huku Japanese Bistro
417 Mace Blvd D, Davis, CA 95618, United States
Huku is our familys favourite Japanese restaurant in Davis. We especially enjoy the delicious Bento Box lunch offerings. Highly recommend the Teriyaki Chicken and Tempura Bento Box. The youngest member of our family loves Hukus sushi, as well. The service is attentive. The atmosphere is spacious and accommodating. Plenty of parking and its close to Nugget, our favourite grocery store.
Mikuni

We've been here many times and this last time was such poor service - we will not be returning. Most recently, we went here for a special occasion because my mom was in town. My six year old son - like many kids - is picky and just wants tofu and rice. This was a complicated ask for some reason - the kids bento box had some vegetarian nuggets that we wanted replaced with tofu. Apparently this was too complicated for their company to do. It's very frustrating because we considered this a special occasion place and order a good amount of sushi - why can't they help parents eat out and enjoy their meal? They literally told us that corporate doesn't allow substitutions. Ok. Its not appetizing to eat somewhere that cites “corporate”. So in order to get a side of plain tofu they said they will charge me for agadashi tofu. When the bill came I asked, did you charge me $9 for the tofu (the happy hour price) or $11 (the full price)? The waitress went and checked with her manager and had the nerve to come back and tell me that they charged me $11 because we modified the agadashi by removing the sauces from the dish. At this point it really just feels like they are playing me. I told her that I was upset about this and she asked if we would like a manager to come over. I had to say yes a few times. The manager comes over with a lackluster energy and just sort of stares at us blankly. He told us we should have told the server to charge us for miso soup without the soup to get the better price. (How am I supposed to know that?!) And the. he still charged us for the tofu - just less - instead of waving the fee for the entire inconvenience. Truly, time is precious and I'm upset that I had to take away from a special dinner to complain. I want to leave a meal like this feeling well taken care of - so if you plan to eat here just know what to expect. I do not plan to return here with my family. Something is very off about this place - it's lacking customer care and common sense.
Hikari Sushi & Omakase

This is the best Japanese restaurant in Davis! The fish is very fresh and tasty. The price of the omakase sets are reasonable and definitely worth the value.

T-Kumi Ramen & Rice Bowl
Second Floor, 1260 Lake Blvd #267, Davis, CA 95616, United States
Its tasty, you have to open your egg first because doing so makes the broth thicker. For Tonkatsu ramen its very thin broth. Personally I like a thicker both, taste wise it did not disappoint. The noodles and thick and tough not soggy which is good, you can let your ramen sit for a while to soften the noodles to your likeing. This is my second time getting ramen here so for its consistent and I appreciate that. Its also very clean inside, its has chairs and tables inside to sit down and eat but its set more for take out. The employees are also all very nice and inviting great people skills so Id go again and Id recommend it to others?Oh and the images below are what I got, the black garlic tonkatsu with pork chashu, it has a smoky taste compared to og tonkatsu
Sushirrito
500 1st St Ste 13a, Davis, CA 95616, United States
Ok... what a unique experience! Sushirrito is one of several restaurants in the Local Kitchens Micro Food Hall. You order at a kiosk and... oh my gosh! I had the best meal! I ordered the Latin Ninja and my spouse ordered Geishas Kiss. So fresh, flavorful and different! Loved it! These sushi burritos were wrapped in seaweed and packed full of so much goodness!
