Mikuni Fair Oaks
4323 Hazel Ave, Fair Oaks, CA 95628, United States
Mikuni in Fair Oaks is one of the oldest Mikuni in the Sacramento area. But it still keeps up very well with excellent food and service. They are one of the most famous Japanese restaurants in town. The menu includes many different choices. It is suitable for a whole family, a group of friends, a couple, or even a solo.I love their delicious sushi rolls and sashimi. The service is great and fast. The parking lot is big and very safe.
Shogun Sushi

I cant say enough about the food here. I grew up eating traditional Japanese dishes, so I can be a bit snobby about todays Japanese style restaurants and to be honest there are only about 5 in the greater Sacramento area that I will dine in. The food here is not only tasty and extremely fresh, but it looks beautiful (as it should). I love the Chirashi Donburi, it comes with a beautiful variety of fresh sashimi, rice, pickles and sushi rice. SO GOOD! My only request would be to have more tskemono, but this is something that is invariably missing in todays American Style Japanese restaurants at least Shogun offers a couple. I will continue to come here!

This was my first time trying this place, I appreciate that they utilize the drive thru window (location went through a myriad of fast food turnover). You can call in or order online, then pick up at the window. Staff was friendly during call in & pick-up... and the order was correct! The teriyaki beef slices were quite a bit fatty, but I appreciate that it wasnt ultra-thin/stringy like a couple of other places Ive tried. The sauces were okay - not the best or worst Ive had. Their prices are competitive with other Japanese restaurants in the area. For $18 & change, I had the 3 item bento box; I doubled up on the veggie tempura for about $2 more than the 2 item BBox. Ill definitely be back the next time I get a quick craving for Japanese! Arigato, Makisu!
Bento Box Fair Oaks

Food is great. Unfortunantly last night I ordered for a pick up. According to the prices for this restaurant on their own website, my order should have come out to $43.22+tax. My actual charge was $56+tax. When I asked about the disparity in prices, I was told that new prices have been in effect for a long time, and that the prices advertised in their website are no longer the correct prices(bait and switch and illegal in California). Deluxe combo plate says its $15.99 on their website, and I was charged $23. I was charged $1 and $2 more than advertised for the rolls, and $2.50 more than advertised for the pot stickers. Either the employees are ripping g off th3 customers and charging them more at checkout, or the owners are in on the scam. Either way, wont eat there again, and I have been a customer since the place first opened in LohmannsUpdate: to whomever replied to my review as the owner.I had already contacted your restaurant a few hours b4 you posted your reply to contact you. I left my name and phone number, however the employee who answered the phone said they were busy getting ready for opening, and would have you clal me back. Apparently that messege never reached you.

Good Japanese food. Not too many Japanese restaurants in South Pasadena. Convenient location and ample parking. Can be quite busy during lunch and dinner. Recommended.

Ive been to over 100 different Ramen restaurants from Portland, Oregon all the way down to Las Vegas, and this quaint little spot tucked away in South Pasadena is tied for #1 with Tomi Ramen in Las Vegas. The inside is less flashy and showboaty than most other places Ive been to, instead focusing on giving you an extremely high quality meal cooked and served to perfection. None of the smoke and mirrors to distract you from the cheap ingredients and microwave pack noodles they serve up at a lot of other places Ive been to with a bunch of expensive decorations and fancy lighting. I had the Tonkotsu Black, and let me tell you the broth was like a silk blanket of complex flavors each distinct yet harmonizing perfectly, while the braised pork chashu melted in my mouth to join in the rising tempo of this symphony of ingredients. Alongside the Ramen, I also decided to try the spider slider. The rich flavor of fresh greens with the light briney flavor of crab coupled with the sweet kiss of the bun and the soft, almost fluffy sensation in the mouth as you bite into this masterpiece and chew...it was otherworldly. Im pretty sure I mumbled the words So Good at least 50 times while I was eating here hahaha. If you never try the food at this place then I feel sorry for you
Yuzu Shabu & Grill

Love this Japanese hotpot. One can choose the protein as well as the quantity one needs. We all ordered 12 oz each of premium meats. The pork bone broth was very flavorful, the citrus konbu not so much. The dipping sauces were all good but I liked the sesame a lot. We came at a busy time but the food was brought to us pretty fast. The soup warmed our bellies; the restaurant was a brilliant choice on a rainy day.
Sushi Go

We live in the neighborhood across the street and love to see another restaurant choice pop up. We frequent Smokey Oaks and Siam Patio and its nice to have a new sushi option so close. We went in for lunch today not knowing that it was their soft opening. Its a pretty basic menu but the fish was fresh, the service was inviting, it was clean and the pricing was great! We ordered the Volcano (their spiciest roll), the Fair Oaks roll, the Sunomono salad and pork gyoza and everything tasted great! The owner was the only one making rolls and cooking and its clear that he will need some extra hands soon! We are looking forward to coming back.

Authentic Japanese restaurants are hard to find these days. So when I find one, I tell everyone about it. The name confused me at first as it isnt Japanese, but the husband and wife team do converse in Japanese.I had the Chirashi. The fish was fairly standard in variety, but had a very elaborate presentation and was of course fresh. We got the amaebi as a side dish and they fried the heads for us, just like in Japan. The takoyaki was also reminiscent of something Id find at a street food vendor in Tokyo. The prices were decent. Not the cheapest, but not outrageous like some of the trendier restaurants like Mikuni and Kru.This is definitely my new go to place for authentic Japanese eats.
