Gochi Japanese Fusion Tapas
1943 W El Camino Real, Mountain View, CA 94041, United States
Hello Viewers, its been a while since I re-visit Gochi Japanese restaurant. Gochi used to be my favorite Japanese restaurant in town. I love they are offering the some fusion style and non Bay Area traditional Japanese restaurant. I had a feeling all Bay Area sushi store are coming from the same master - Dragon Sushi Roll, Rainbow rolls, teriyaki chicken, sashimi plate, etc.this place offers different Japanese fusion cooking style such as Japanese dressing pizza, clay pot, and carpaccio beef. I enjoy these type of Izakaya style that goes along with the sake or wine instead of treat it as a full meals.if the group of people coming here and hoping for full Japanese meal, this is not for you. if you are coming to have sip of the drinks and tapas style, I will look no further.P.S - did I mention this place serve the foods way too fast? feels like its missing the izakaya style.Paul
Satsuma Sushi

Excellent authentic Japanese sushi and other cuisine. Conveniently placed next to a Baskin Robins if youd like dessert after. Food is on par with other higher tier sushi restaurants and staff are professional. Expect to pay Mountain View prices but the food is worth it. Seating is comfy and atmospheric.

Great Japanese restaurant. Quite far from my place but we always love venturing out to see whats out there. The signature sushi rolls are one of the best I have tasted. Good service.
Yugen Ramen

Very delicious ramen! We got a chicken paitan ramen and one with the kakuni (fat pork belly) and some chicken karaage. Everything tasted great! My husband is a big ramen fan and I only like very few ones, but the kakuni one was so flavorful and rich, I loved it. Had some leftovers and still tasted great the day after. The chciken karaage was so crispy and perfect with the japanese mayo. The restaurant looks very cool, has a japanese modern vibe. There is usually a line, it was raining that day and we still had to put our names in the waiting list, but it was worth it. Since its in downtown you can walk around while waiting. Prices are quite typical for modern ramen places ($12-15 for a regular ramen) but taste way better than average!Looking forward our next visit!

Overall would rate 3.5 because its good taste, but its not authentic and it is quite pricey.Came back for Happy hour in September after 6 months from my first visit. The happy hour is from 5 to 6 or so; pretty empty at 5, got seated and served very fast. Food was delicious, still not cheap, but at least not expensive. $6 for California roll, $5 takoyaki (6 units) and $9 for thinly sliced salmon carpaccio (great taste though!)We werent given the HH menu until we asked, which was a bit weird.Food was good but it is really pricey for what you get. The restaurant was pretty full, service is not as good as usual japanese restaurants. This is more like a modern restaurant that serves japanese food, doesnt have that japanese feel to it that I enjoy most.
Rumble Fish Mountain View
357 Castro St Unit 3A, Mountain View, CA 94041, United States
I actually wanted to give 3.5 stars. The restaurant is located on Castro street, Mountain View, a very busy district. Very convenient. The restaurant setting supposed to be upper cut, actually I would say its just above average.Food presentation I gave 6/10, taste 7/10, service 7/10 vs the price.Still, if you really like Japanese cuisine, and you are in the area, its a choice.
Joy Sushi

Small neighborhood family run Japanese restaurant featuring excellent fish, bento, poke, and more. Closed Sundays. The kind of place that has Japanese TV, salads made with iceberg lettuce, and a little bottle of Yakult to top off your meal. Warm friendly service with an arigato and a smile. You wont regret stopping by.

Who thought Korean and fried chicken was a good idea? If orange chicken still has some Chinese as in American Chinese, I cannot find a shred of Korean in Korean fried chicken. But style or authenticity is not at question. It is the taste that breaks the deal.Looking at the display sheet on the window and the bar-set interior, I already knew that this was a Korean fusion kind of deal, a gen-Y hangout place, i.e., not a family eatery. (With which region this is fusing is unclear.) But my daughter is presently infatuated with everything Korean. It was a bit crowded dinner time, so we settled at the bar. I ordered a salmon avocado ball mainly based on ingredient list. It is a sheet of salmon wrapped over some other ingredients (nothing particularly Korean). The dish looks more baked than fried. The sauce is cheesy and sweet; there is certainly added sugar in the internal materials, too. Overall, the only good thing about the dish is presentation. My daughters fate was worse. She thought her tteokbokki was a traditional dish, as delightfully described on the menu. But the whole thing was so sugary that she didnt finish half of it. Needless to say, this has ruined her hope of getting anything Korean out of this place. (And engrained a fear of Asian fusion for some foreseeable future.)If you want a downtown venue to hang out, drink some rice wine, and not having a meaningful conversation, the place is very clean, seating is more relaxed than in many Asian eateries. But if you want to have a meaningful meal that does not numb your taste buds with sweetness, or want to have any kind of Asian experience - or simply want a good meal, Bonchon is not a bon place.Oh, what is that about not having meaningful conversation? The absolutely absorptionless interior is so loud that you literally have to shout to the waiting staff who leans to within two feet (60 cm) of your mouth.
Sizzling Lunch

Im so excited to have this close by! But Im worried that its not in a prime location so it may not survive... please visit! Its just adjacent to the Safeway.Their specialty is that they serve a variety of carbohydrates on sizzling plates, including pasta, udon and pepper rice. They have one veggie dish (tofu with mushroom, carrots and bean sprouts). Their salad portions are quite generous for $5 (compared with other Japanese restaurants). The prices are quite reasonable indeed, around $15-18 range which is not too bad in the current inflated economy. The portions are not super huge but they are quite filling. And of course I love the food as I love anything served on sizzling plates, they just have that great flavor. Their pepper rice came with a blob of garlic butter, yummm. A somewhat misleading thing is that they have teriyaki sauce and garlic sauce, despite its red bottle the garlic sauce is not spicy.A quick tip is if you dont want your carbohydrates to char (some people prefer that of course), just make sure when it arrives mix the food properly. For my veggie tofu dish, I made sure to get the tofu to grill rather than the rice.
