Ponzu Japanese Sushi Bar

ARE YOU KIDDING ME??I was craving for really good sushi for my Bday dinner with family so l chose this restaurant based on review .I never felt so cheated . They should be ashamed of selling Costco frozen shrimp tempura as their battered tempura.Charging 3,pieces of Costco frozen shrimps w/ a piece of broccoli and 3 slices of squash tempura fried with over used oil( too greasy n you can taste the old oil ) for $16 as a mixed tempura ??Sashimi plate $70, expected fresher n better quality .Rolls were ok if you like so much rice and mayos n your rolls .If you are looking for over priced fusion style n refried mega store bought frozen foods then it’s a place to go but if you are looking for an authentic Japanese restaurant w/ quality then this is the last place to go.??? the worst $ 200 dinner l ever had in my life . I have one star b/c that’s the lowest option l could give .I can’t believe this place have over 4 stars .

My family love this Japanese restaurant, the Beef Teriyaki combo (Shrimp Tempura) Chicken Teriyaki combo, and Volcano (scallops with California rolls) are our favorite dish here.....

YoSushi Kitchen

First appearance is an little deceiving. No conveyer belt fast service but a sit down next to corona Mexican banner. Glasses reading “bonjour” and Japanese lanterns. Sapporo, Asahi, bud light, corona signs I think the restaurant is confused about what it wants to be. Once you come in your welcome with friendly service and surprised not to wait to long for food. All Japanese sushi, tonkatsu, chirashi bowls, hand-rolls, etc. I ordered the hand-roll sushi combo. The chef pick an array of fish and it was worth the 13.99 price!Eel, fatty tuna, salmon.. all fresh. Hand-rolls rice, avocado, imitation crab all fairly fresh and in good amount! Even their ginger was the real deal and no the store bought stale. Would recommend if your looking for decent quality food for the price. Again only tried the sushi. I had a shrimp tempura hand roll which I think the tempura could have more crunch but it wasn’t reheated. Thanks for the experience! Recommend if you want to spend a little more then conveyer belt to get better quality sushi

Great Japanese restaurant! The food was well prepared, the establishment was so pretty and clean. The food was delicious! I recommend the curry and chicken ramen! My mom loved the beef brisket ramen as well!
Orimori Japanese Kitchen

Food was not Great. Can definitely get better tasting sushi and ramen at other Japanese restaurants. Ramen had no flavor and looked like packaged noodles placed in a plastic bowl. Sushi comes in small quantities so you are intended to order more.
Kaizen Shabu
303 N Spurgeon St, Santa Ana, CA 92701, United States
The wife and I decided we wanted to get some Shabu and wanted to venture into something other than our usual. So we found this place. Wow, am I glad that we did. This place is tucked in between the Yost and El Mercado Modern Cuisine close to the foodie lovers 4th street market in Downtown Santa Ana. There is PAID private lot parking, right in front of the restaurant. Otherwise there is also FREE street parking surrounding the area. The ambiance and decor inside is very modern and clean with plenty of bar seating (I suggest sitting in front of the bar). There is a full bar stocked with Japanese Whiskey( YES!), American Whiskey and other liquors. And of course, BEER and SAKE IS SERVED!I ordered a Japanese old fashion Hibiki Japanese Whiskey and it was taaaaaasty! My wife also decided to get some Sake (Nigori and got two on the house Hot sakes) with some beer! Needless to say, we were feeling pretty good. As for the food, I ordered the Spicy Miso broth with Samurai Sized Angus beef and my my wife decided on Sukiyaki with the Swaifish (white fish). Both orders were superb tasting and plentiful. I was definitely stuffed post meal. One thing Id really like to say about this place is the service is ON POINT! Even the owner/general manager was working and introduced himself to us. Please, YOJIE JAPANESE FONDUE SANTA ANA, dont change your service as you become more popular!

AYCE Sushi SCM

After reading all the reviews Im beginning to think it was just bad luck on my part, however this was a terrible meal from start to finish, at nearly $30 per person for the standard menu.Tempura shrimp was terrible, no crunch and the shrimp itself was very overcooked.Tempura calamari: it came out piping hot fresh, but was a ratio of 5:1 breading to squid. By the time the breading was cooked the squid was flavorless rubber. The tempura breading also had no flavor, was just oily.Gyoza was standard, came out fresh but had no discernable flavors, bland overall.In-n-out shrimp roll. The avocado was overly ripe having no texture, felt like mashed avocado but clearly wasnt. The amount of mayo on this made my wifes stomach turn instantly.Baked mussels are one of my favorites, sadly it didnt seem baked at all, just sauce dumped on cold mussels, one of them also had a fair amount or shell mixed in despite that mussels shell being fully intact.Dynamite roll and popcorn roll. Dynamite is my go to at AYCE and often blends the best of both worlds, delicate sushi roll with baked flavorful scallops in sauce on top. These scallops were tiny and completely mushy, very clearly cheap frozen scallops. The popcorn topping was the same as the other fried items, super oily with no discerning flavor, please add atleast some salt.Speaking of salt, the miso soup (which comes from a automatic pouring machine) was overly salty and has no light flavors to it.We got a simple roll to start as well, a spicy tuna I believe. This was a very standard roll with nothing amazing, however it had the chewiest seaweed Ive ever had, not sure if that indicates freshness or ir it was frozen, I couldnt tell as this was the first time experiencing that.I really wanted to like this place as I live nearby, love AYCE sushi places, and the reviews were great. Sadly this place disappointed with every item I recieved. Atleast they did not charge for all the remaining food we didnt eat most since the in-n-out roll made us sick. Servers also never checked in nor offered refills on our drinks. If this place was charging $18 I could understand the cheap ingredients, but this was a higher priced place with low quality food.
Shabu Shabu Bar
1945 17th St STE 108, Santa Ana, CA 92705, United States
This place has been my go-to shabu spot since high school when my brother would take me. Sure, I have other spots I like to rotate, but compared to the others, Shabu Shabu Bar is always a very fun and pleasant dining experience. The meat quality here has never suffered and has remained consistent all these years. The same can be said for the produce. I cant speak on the broth options unfortunately as I enjoy doing plain water, but my wife really enjoys the sukiyaki. I especially love the fact that I can substitute items out for others. For example, I despise mushrooms, so I can get something else in its place, like another vegetable that isnt a fungus :)They have THE best goma sauce Ive ever had and I like grinding the sesame seeds before dinner. It adds a nice depth of flavor to the sauce. I used to never care for goma, but because of SSB, I need it! Also, if youre a hothead, definitely request for the drops. I can do upwards of 8+, but I am a VERY spicy eater! My wife does 5-6.As I mentioned earlier, the atmosphere here is lively and fun. The service is always personable and attentive. The previous and current owner are always engaging with their customers and helping out the rest of the team which I think is a respectable.I just went recently, but I cant wait to go back again, especially when the weather gets colder and the days are shorter!
