Kabuki Japanese Restaurant
24045 Newhall Ranch Rd Suite A-2, Valencia, CA 91354, United States
We had Valentines dinner at Kabuki in Valencia and the experience was good but not great.I had a Kabuki Old Fashioned which on paper looked delicious, Whisky, Japanese black sugar...but in the glass it was no more special or distinctive than any other Old Fashioned Id had. It was a blend of Makers Mark Bourbon with a Japanese Whiskey. I like Makers Mark but at a high end Japanese restaurant that Im spending a lot of money on a cocktail for, go ahead and please use the nice Japanese Whiskey. Also the Japanese Black Sugar I was hoping would be a noticeable special ingredient and it was not. That having been said we really liked what we ordered to eat. Were vegetarians and there was also a little bit of a disappointment that some vegetarian items on their website menu didnt seem to be present on the in-store menu. Still, we did have choices and our server let us know about one item that wasnt on the menu, a Crispy Tofu roll which was a vegetarian take on a crab-cake roll. It was good.We also liked the Green Roll. Nicely presented and tasted good too.We also shared the Curry Rice Bowl...I was lucky enough to still have a memory of having curry in Japan and the taste of this definitely reminded me of that experience. Thats part of what one can hope from food...that itll transport you to another place in your memory. Eating good food luckily can be like traveling. That just about happened here with this curry dish.Well probably try other places before we come back, but wed comeback.
Kisho Japanese Restaurant
23430 Valencia Blvd, Santa Clarita, CA 91355, United States
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Kisho Japanese Restaurant, and my experience far surpassed my expectations from a previous visit several years ago. The attentive staff expertly managed our stroller amidst the restaurants vibrant atmosphere. The culinary creations were truly exceptional, justifying the reasonable price. While there were unforeseen shortages of wine and beer due to the enthusiastic weekend crowd, the staff promptly resolved the matter. The ambiance was perfectly suited for intimate conversations among a small group, maintaining an ideal balance between not being overly subdued and not being excessively boisterous. Kisho Japanese Restaurant is wholeheartedly recommended, and I look forward to returning for another enjoyable dining experience.
Tokyo Sushi
27039 McBean Pkwy, Valencia, CA 91354, United States
One of the best Japanese restaurants in SCV. The sushi is fresh and the food is high-quality and authentic. Servings are generously portioned and worth the price. The staff are extremely courteous and seem genuinely happy to have you there. The restaurant is a bit on the small side, but laid out in a way that affords a good sense of privacy for diners. I also really appreciate that they dont have their music up so loud I cant hear my own conversations. This has become my go-to sushi place.
Hungry Ninja
27674 Newhall Ranch Rd UNIT 50, Valencia, CA 91355, United States
The Hungry Ninja - A Nostalgic DisappointmentThe Hungry Ninja, a local favorite, has held a special place in my heart since 2011, when I was in high school. The half chicken and half beef rice combo plate was nothing short of a culinary masterpiece back then. It was known for its perfectly cooked meats, flavorful rice, and fresh vegetables. Fast-forward 13 years, and the anticipation of reliving those cherished memories of what I once considered my dream food was palpable. With great expectations, I revisited The Hungry Ninja. However, my excitement soon turned into a deep sense of disappointment. The food items that once were a testament to quality and flavor have undergone a noticeable decline, leaving me with a heavy heart. The chicken, once cooked with such intense heat that it achieved a perfect char, now lacks that fiery, satisfying texture. The beef, formerly tender and aromatic, no longer possesses the same enticing allure. The accompanying steamed rice and mixed vegetables, which used to complement the meats so perfectly, failed to impress as they once did.It pains me to say that the overall umami of the dish has diminished. The Hungry Ninja now stands as a shadow of its former self, a mere memory of the culinary delight it used to offer. This once-beloved combo plate did not meet my expectations, leaving me to reminisce about the vibrant flavors of the past. The disappointment was not just in the taste, but also in the loss of a cherished memory, which made the experience even more disheartening. While my visit was fueled by nostalgia, the reality did not live up to the cherished recollections. Thus, I rate The Hungry Ninja three stars, with a glimmer of hope that it may one day recapture the magic that once made it a standout dining experience.
Thai Dishes (Valencia)
23328 Valencia Blvd, Santa Clarita, CA 91355, United States
Ive literally never reviewed a place before but well yeah. I used to love this place, and have recommended it to a lot of people who liked it as well until recently. I hadn't ordered in awhile but today my husband and I ordered takeout/delivery, and to my dismay I realized why so many of our friends have stopped ordering here. They have literally cut their portions in half, including not putting entire ingredients in their recipes that normally are there. I understand inflation, but for their already expensive prices when you receive less than half the portion that you are normally served but charged $20+ for that dish. Beyond ridiculous, and the flavor was all but missing. On top of all of this, 2/4 of the items we ordered were missing entirely. Extremely disappointed, the best thai place in scv is going down the drain. I was even thinking of ordering a different thai place but I literally said, this is thai valencia what could go wrong. Wish I wouldn't have ordered here and wont be again. Sad sad sad, thank you for turning me into a Karen thai valencia.

I tried several things, so I'll break it down by item and give individual ratings. The 4/5 stars is overall but the true rating is 3.7/5.Pizza slice: (2.5/5) nothing exceptional about it. Weird paring of what looked like pickles and cheese. Bold but not my taste.Iced Mexican Mocha: (1/5) this just comes down to personal taste. I could tell I would like their regular coffee but they put cayenne or some other chili powder in this. Another bold choice that just didn't work for me. Too much pepper overrode any other taste in the drink.Peanut butter cookie (4/5): not overly thick or peanut buttery. You can still tell you're eating a cookie and the salt adds a nice balance to the sweet and richness.Chocolate chip cookie: (4.5/5) damn good cookie. Great crunchy texture on the outside, chewy on the inside. The salt again adds nice balance to the sweet and richness of the chocolate. If it was fresh out of the oven I could see it being a 5/5.Will come back again to try a different pizza slice (only one option per day) and a different coffee.
Taishoken San Francisco
665 Valencia St, San Francisco, CA 94110, United States
As a Japanese Ramen otaku (nerd), I have to admit this is the best ramen/tsukemen I’ve ever had outside of Japan. I’ve been to several Taishoken in Japan, and this Taishoken was beyond some of them. The customer service was exceptional, meaning the same quality of normal Japanese restaurants.
Bernal Cutlery
766 Valencia St, San Francisco, CA 94110, United States
The rudest customer service I've ever experienced. And from the owner no less.I called the store to ask a few questions about a Japanese knife I was interested in buying. Isaid to the woman who answered that I'd like to speak to someone who knows a lot about that particular knife since I have quite a few questions. She barked, “What's your question?” I repeated that I have a few questions that I'd like to ask someone who knows the knife well. She asked snarkily, “What makes you think I don't know a lot about this knife?” I explained that I don't presume to know whether she knows much about the knife, and if she does, then I'm fine talking to her. She smirked and said she was offended. Then she told me she's the store owner and that what I said was very rude. She has a real chip on her shoulder. I feel sorry for the people who have to work with her - a snowflake who looks for offense and finds it everywhere.I ended up buying the knife for much cheaper from a very respected Canadian store - Knifewear. The Knifewear people I spoke to were wonderful. They answered all my questions and were extremely friendly and professional, unlike Bernal Cutlery.*I just saw the response from this woman. Not only is she nasty and rude, she's a paranoid liar. Our conversation was nothing like she describes. She describes the conversation as though I was out to get her. I don't know her, don't know her shop (just googled the knife and this store was one that came up). It's ludicrous to say that I didn't believe she was the owner. Why wouldn't I?? She didn't tell me she was the owner until the end of the conversation, after she had nastily demanded that I tell her what my question was. I certainly wasn't “mad” that she wildly over-reacted and told me to shop elsewhere - by then, I had no intention of buying anything from her. She's a vindictive, entitled woman who should get a life.
EagleRider Motorcycle Rentals and Tours San Fra...
1635 Valencia St, San Francisco, CA 94110, United States
We rented an Indian Roadmaster for our first trip to California. We were able to get through the administrative process in a short while and then the young woman proceeded to walk us through the important features of the bike. She did a great job of highlighting important things like - the disk lock - and how to set it up to avoid putting it on incorrectly and getting into a bad situation getting it off.We were through the process and on the bike in about 20 minutes.Check-in was very easy as well. There were a couple of other riders being attended to, so there was a bit of a wait but nothing unreasonable. The bike itself was in great condition and operated as expected. There were a couple of small glitches and one thing about the GPS you need to know.Glitch 1 - rear tire pressure sensor lit up saying the pressure was less than 35 psi two days into the trip. We called Eagle Rider and they asked if we were riding an Indian. This is a known issue with the bike itself and the person we talked to convinced us it was okay to proceed without returning to add additional. While the sensor repeatedly went off for the remainder of the trip, there was no issue and from what I could tell the tire was fully inflated. This nuance could have been shared during the bike walk-though. This is a picky point but it did add stressAnother annoyance, and this may be a user problem, but the GPS brightness did not adjust with lighting conditions. There may have been a way to do this but I was not told what to do if it was possible. The display is bright enough during the day but impedes road visibility at night if left at normal brightness. We were never asked about (that I can recall) our experience level and what kind of bikes we have ridden before. I have been riding for over 20 years, give or take and I currently own a Yamaha FJR1300. It is a bike that requires an experienced rider but it is no Indian Roadmaster. The bike clocks in at over 900 pounds gassed up and then you throw luggage and and people on this thing Id say we had 1300+ pounds in motion. The Roadmaster is a great bike for the open road. If you want to cruise the Pacific Coast Highway (which we did), it is a wonderful ride. If however, you are driving around San Francisco, in say the Castro District (which is where we stayed), you and your passenger, need to be seasoned riders or you are in for a difficult time at the very least or you are in a heap of trouble. Starting and stopping on a steep uphill grade is not easy on this bike. You better know what you are doing.I would say there needs to be a conversation about planned routes and relative experience to ensure a safe and enjoyable ride. Finally, THIS IS IMPORTANT, you need to plan your route because cannot necessarily rely on the GPS to plan a good route. We were staying in Sonoma and were planning a trip to Yountville. If you go to Google Maps, it will plan a primary route through Napa, which is all high-way driving. Google maps also shows a secondary route which takes you north and then has you turn right onto Trinity Road. This route has you going on a very twisty, very narrow, mountain road in poor condition. Not being from the area, we plugged in Yountville and it took us through the mountains. I daresay were feel lucky to be alive and not a casualty of Death by GPS.I would suggest that there be a conversation about planned routes, particularly with people coming in from out of town or out of the country. We had a near death experience that could have been avoided, if we had discussed our plans with Eagle Rider staff. I am not blaming Eagle Rider for this incident but I think a conversation about plans and suggestions for route planning would enhance the safety and enjoyment of the experience. The bike was great, the people we worked with were awesome and if a more thorough conversation were had prior to the trip, I would given them a 5.I would be happy to discuss this in more detail if you wish. Thanks,Ken
