Sakura Japanese Steakhouse & Sushi
201 W Court St, Woodland, CA 95695, United States
It takes a bit for me to give a 5 star review and this is not the type of restaurant I felt like I would give it too.Simply put I can’t stand fish and big cuts of meat are not for me.So when I was told we were going for dinner at a Japanese steakhouse I thought it sounded like literal hell.I went with a group and we sat at the hibachi grill!Let me just say from start to finish it was a wonderful experience - I was afraid it would smell fishy in there ( I really can’t eat when I smell it) and this was far from the case here, I would never have known they served sushi.Me and my partner shared the hibachi combo - it was plenty of food for two people, but some people at the table had a full one to themselves. We had the chicken and New York strip. The rice is so simply but beautifully seasoned with egg and soya / sesame ? - super tastyWe asked for the steak medium rare and it was cooked perfectly - super tender for the cut it was, they serve a couple sauces with it.The veggies that were served were also super tasty, carrots, onions, mushrooms and zucchini. The chicken was also perfect! To start they served us a salad and mushroom soup as part of the hibachi deal. Both were tasty and the salad had a lovely dressing. We also ordered a side of spicy Edamame it was plenty full and well seasoned.Aside from the excellent food the entertainment from the chef was first class throwing zucchini for us to catch and pouring stuff in your mouth ( don’t worry if you’re shy they don’t pressure you to do it ) it was overall a fantastic experience. If you had food allergies such as gluten it’s a good spot and they also offer veggie / tofu options!

You know how you are greeted with Irrasshai! when you enter a Japanese restaurant. This place has the attitude of the total opposite. We entered the door and were looking at the back of the waiter behind the greeting counter. Without looking at us, she departed. Another one came in just to enter something on the computer screen - her back to us all the time. After two minutes I was able to catch a waiter. He asked for my name and told us the table would be ready in five minutes. Fifteen minutes later, the pair ahead of use still waiting to be seated, we left. A whole section of the restaurant, with at least five tables for two, was empty all this time.I dont care what kind of food they serve, with this attitude and this service they are not going to see me again.
O Teriyaki
10 N East St STE 100, Woodland, CA 95776, United States
Meh. Ive only been here once and only tried the sesame chicken. Its a Hawaiian-style BBQ/Japanese restaurant in a business park. The food I tried was nothing to rave about, but it wasnt bad either. It was not overly sweet, greasy, or salty, but it also wasnt very flavorful. The macaroni salad was the best part of the meal. Ive got to give them credit for the chicken actually seeming like real chicken (some of these teriyaki places serve that flattened, stringy stuff you wonder if its really chicken or not, but this chicken was obviously real chicken and moist). Since its close to my office and open fairly late, Ill probably eat here again, but I probably wouldnt drive out of my way to do so otherwise.

The food and service were excellent. Nice atmosphere. We ordered a lot and everything was tasted fresh and was presented pleasantly. The bathrooms were clean. Japanese fusion with some tasty and interesting twists as well as quality traditional fare. Standout dishes included the halibut sashimi, Heart of Samurai rice-less roll, and a seafood casserole. Rating should be higher IMO, seems like the prices turn some people off, but it was worth it. Good restaurants are disappearing in the San Fernando Valley because of cheapskates with no standards leaving low scores. This place may be out of price range for a weekly spot for many, but for a monthly visit or special occasion, I recommend it and will be back often.
Somethings Fishy

This place came highly recommended and it's ok but I don't find it great or incredible like some of the sushi places around. The prices are very good though and if you enjoy sushi you know in this area it's usually expensive. I gave it four stars because I think this is a place you need to try yourself and decide. By the way we've gone twice and the last time they had no asparagus or avocado which really changes many sushi items. Maybe call and check before going. I wish we had!Update: I still give it a 4 but a high end 4. .... My husband and I have gone many more times and I have enjoyed it much more. Many half priced (half sized) options so you can try lots of different things. They havent been out of any items and everything is nice and fresh. Weve really had the opportunity to try nearly the whole menu now and I nothing disappoints. I also learned about the specials, and they have great happy hours, etc. Look into it! Oh, it seems like parking sucks but go around the back, up the hill; there is plenty of parking there. Lastly I want to add, if you like spicy, and I do a LOT, than be sure to try the spicy scallops. Mmm, Mmm good.

If I can give zero stars I would. Went for lunch yesterday w my husband and 4 year old. Sat outside right away, but the service was a whole different story. Personally I love the food, but the service was just horrible. Usually theres a female server and male server. Yesterday we had the male server. When i walked in there, there was maybe about 4 customers total between inside and outside. From the start it took at least 15 minutes just to order our drinks first. Then took another 15 minutes to get our iced teas. Took another 15 minutes just to place our order which I wrote all the items on the paper. It took about 25-30 minutes to get most of our items and then the rest we never got because when I asked the server for the rest of our items he completely just forgot to put them in to be made. I also asked for a water for my 4 year old which never came. Mind you at this point there was no other customers but us. I had to ask for the check at which point he brought out and stood right next to me till i handed over payment and when I advised him on all the items I never got all he said was do you want them now? I have ordered many many times literally up to $200 worth of food each time and like I said while we actuall enjoy the quality of the food I would never go back to dine there again unless its the regular female server or whole different person other than the regular male server they have.
Sushi Planet Woodland Hills

Ordered one simple shrimp tempura roll, to go. I basically live around the corner, have been there many times before. Got home and this was not the tempura roll I remember pre-pandemic. First of all, the shrimp was not tempura! It was plain cooked shrimp & it still had pieces of shell on it! I was eating and pulling pieces of shell out of my mouth! It was disgusting and inedible! I immediately called & was told to bring it back in. Get back to restaurant and I show a woman the role and she starts arguing with me about it! At first I was going to accept a replacement but then I asked for my money back. She said she would credit my card for just the tempura shrimp roll but not the other food I ordered. I said okay. But she was still argumentative, yelling at me so I told her I dont need you, theres always Banzai Sushi! Later, when I received my credit card statement, she had credited me the whole $39. But I will never go back there! Buyer beware!
California Bowl Teriyaki Sushi

Called to place an order thinking this was a different California Teriyaki and Sushi. When I asked for a Calamari roll the lady said she didnt know what that was. She didnt say sorry we dont serve that here, she said I dont know what that is like she doesnt know what Calamari is at all. Anyway, I eventually realized I had the wrong resgurant but decided to order from here anyway because it wasnt too far from where I lived and because I was already on the phone with this lady. I got a dragon roll and a California roll because Im basic as hell. When I got the food, the rice was waaay over cooked and the fish was not very fresh... I didnt get food poisoning though so thats why Im giving 2 stars.
