Kabuki Japanese Restaurant
20940 Ventura Blvd, Woodland Hills, CA 91364, United States
You know how you are greeted with Irrasshai! when you enter a Japanese restaurant. This place has the attitude of the total opposite. We entered the door and were looking at the back of the waiter behind the greeting counter. Without looking at us, she departed. Another one came in just to enter something on the computer screen - her back to us all the time. After two minutes I was able to catch a waiter. He asked for my name and told us the table would be ready in five minutes. Fifteen minutes later, the pair ahead of use still waiting to be seated, we left. A whole section of the restaurant, with at least five tables for two, was empty all this time.I dont care what kind of food they serve, with this attitude and this service they are not going to see me again.
Tomoya Sushi & Izakaya
6020 Canoga Ave #100, Woodland Hills, CA 91367, United States
The food and service were excellent. Nice atmosphere. We ordered a lot and everything was tasted fresh and was presented pleasantly. The bathrooms were clean. Japanese fusion with some tasty and interesting twists as well as quality traditional fare. Standout dishes included the halibut sashimi, Heart of Samurai rice-less roll, and a seafood casserole. Rating should be higher IMO, seems like the prices turn some people off, but it was worth it. Good restaurants are disappearing in the San Fernando Valley because of cheapskates with no standards leaving low scores. This place may be out of price range for a weekly spot for many, but for a monthly visit or special occasion, I recommend it and will be back often.
Somethings Fishy

This place came highly recommended and it's ok but I don't find it great or incredible like some of the sushi places around. The prices are very good though and if you enjoy sushi you know in this area it's usually expensive. I gave it four stars because I think this is a place you need to try yourself and decide. By the way we've gone twice and the last time they had no asparagus or avocado which really changes many sushi items. Maybe call and check before going. I wish we had!Update: I still give it a 4 but a high end 4. .... My husband and I have gone many more times and I have enjoyed it much more. Many half priced (half sized) options so you can try lots of different things. They havent been out of any items and everything is nice and fresh. Weve really had the opportunity to try nearly the whole menu now and I nothing disappoints. I also learned about the specials, and they have great happy hours, etc. Look into it! Oh, it seems like parking sucks but go around the back, up the hill; there is plenty of parking there. Lastly I want to add, if you like spicy, and I do a LOT, than be sure to try the spicy scallops. Mmm, Mmm good.
Crazy Tokyo Sushi
21801 Ventura Blvd, Woodland Hills, CA 91364, United States
If I can give zero stars I would. Went for lunch yesterday w my husband and 4 year old. Sat outside right away, but the service was a whole different story. Personally I love the food, but the service was just horrible. Usually theres a female server and male server. Yesterday we had the male server. When i walked in there, there was maybe about 4 customers total between inside and outside. From the start it took at least 15 minutes just to order our drinks first. Then took another 15 minutes to get our iced teas. Took another 15 minutes just to place our order which I wrote all the items on the paper. It took about 25-30 minutes to get most of our items and then the rest we never got because when I asked the server for the rest of our items he completely just forgot to put them in to be made. I also asked for a water for my 4 year old which never came. Mind you at this point there was no other customers but us. I had to ask for the check at which point he brought out and stood right next to me till i handed over payment and when I advised him on all the items I never got all he said was do you want them now? I have ordered many many times literally up to $200 worth of food each time and like I said while we actuall enjoy the quality of the food I would never go back to dine there again unless its the regular female server or whole different person other than the regular male server they have.
Sushi Planet Woodland Hills
23349 Mulholland Dr, Woodland Hills, CA 91364, United States
Ordered one simple shrimp tempura roll, to go. I basically live around the corner, have been there many times before. Got home and this was not the tempura roll I remember pre-pandemic. First of all, the shrimp was not tempura! It was plain cooked shrimp & it still had pieces of shell on it! I was eating and pulling pieces of shell out of my mouth! It was disgusting and inedible! I immediately called & was told to bring it back in. Get back to restaurant and I show a woman the role and she starts arguing with me about it! At first I was going to accept a replacement but then I asked for my money back. She said she would credit my card for just the tempura shrimp roll but not the other food I ordered. I said okay. But she was still argumentative, yelling at me so I told her I dont need you, theres always Banzai Sushi! Later, when I received my credit card statement, she had credited me the whole $39. But I will never go back there! Buyer beware!
California Bowl Teriyaki Sushi
21036 Victory Blvd, Woodland Hills, CA 91367, United States
Called to place an order thinking this was a different California Teriyaki and Sushi. When I asked for a Calamari roll the lady said she didnt know what that was. She didnt say sorry we dont serve that here, she said I dont know what that is like she doesnt know what Calamari is at all. Anyway, I eventually realized I had the wrong resgurant but decided to order from here anyway because it wasnt too far from where I lived and because I was already on the phone with this lady. I got a dragon roll and a California roll because Im basic as hell. When I got the food, the rice was waaay over cooked and the fish was not very fresh... I didnt get food poisoning though so thats why Im giving 2 stars.
Maru Ramen
21614 Ventura Blvd, Woodland Hills, CA 91364, United States
TLDR; Worth coming for people in the west valley.Quite authentic interpretation of modern ramen. We came here for Sunday dinner, and had Spicy Miso and Kuromayu (I thought it meant black cocoon, but turns out black garlic oil マー油)Spicy Miso was a bit on hotter side for ramen natives like us, but its likely the best solution for the market. I respect that decision. Kuromayu(should really spell like Kuro Mayu) was a nice fatty modern Tonkotsu-based broth we usually get in Japan. The ramen noodles were semi-thin, semi-wrinkled and cooked to the perfection for my taste. A hint of al dente at the first bite, and slowly cooked in the soup as I dig in.We really like the idea of limited selection of ramen. It really helps them to focus on the quality.Service was top-notch for a ramen house. We had the nicest gen-z servers here. Also the interior of the restaurant is modern and welcoming (reminds me of Tender Greens)Still I can do a few nitpicking. The edge of our table shows sign of aging, and patched with mending tapes. The door knob was probably inherited from the last tenant and looks like its pulled from some old apartment. It may not be best for high traffic business. The step right outside door could also use some modernization. Its probably rare but someone will eventually trip after having few sips after heavy meal. Wheelchair accessibility would be nice but we couldnt find it unfortunately.Overall, this is a very well calculated, well executed, well priced ramen house. It doesnt have screaming values, but well worth for coming back.

New Light & Healthy Sushi Bar
19817 Ventura Blvd, Woodland Hills, CA 91364, United States
Never a dull experience at Light & Healthy Sushi. I highly recommend any and all sushi lovers to try Light & Healthy! This spot has been around since the 80s (rightfully so) and is my go to AYCE sushi spot. I live in Van Nuys and choose to drive over here to enjoy the fresh, delicious sushi and great customer service, even though there are other sushi spots near my home (including Midori).Located on Ventura Blvd. just west of Corbin Ave., Light & Healthy has a private parking lot with ample parking space, and additional street parking available as well. The restaurant is pretty large with about 20 seats at the sushi bar and several booths/tables in the dining area. AYCE is only available at the bar, costing $25.95 during lunch hours and $29.95 during dinner. AYCE and a la carte menu prices are relatively comparable to most sushi restaurants. The bar area also has 3 TVs that usually play the relevant sporting or entertainment events going on at the time. There are usually 3 chefs manning the sushi bar. One of the things I enjoy most is the level of hospitality and personalization the crew provides every time I visit Light & Healthy. From the moment you walk in you are made to feel welcome as if you were their favorite customer. The chefs actually talk and interact with you, building rapport, offering recommendations and insight on the menu. A few times I have been offered off-the-menu items that the chefs were creating using their own recipe (ask Chef Justin for his Spicy Scallop Special hand roll!). I have had the pleasure of being served by most, if not all, the chefs there (Brian, Henry, Justin and Lee who is actually the owner) and have always had a great experience. Their sushi is fresh and portions are very generous. I always pair my sushi with the green mussels and quail egg shooters. Perfect way to start and end my AYCE experience!Of course when doing AYCE you may have to wait as the chefs are also catering to the a la carte crowd as well as other ACYE customers at the bar, but I have never had an unreasonable wait or delay during my meal here. Ill always choose Light & Healthy to fulfill my AYCE sushi needs.
Little Brothers Sushi
22140 Ventura Blvd #3, Woodland Hills, CA 91364, United States
Came here solo in the evening for dinner. There was a bit of a wait but I was seated at the bar immediately due to being solo. Did a sushi combo and some other add ons. Everything was sooo good I kept ordering more nigiri. The special was a nigiri sampler of imported Japanese fish, which was incredibly good. Some of the best nigiri I've had anywhere in the country. Specifically the Spanish mackerel, halibut, and two Japanese imported fish were my favorite pieces(I think one was a red snapper, and I forget the other maybe a black snapper, idk, it was a while ago) the only negatives for me was the temp inside was pretty hot/humid which made me a tiny bit uncomfortable, I did also find one scale on a piece of nigiri(not a huge deal, they were super busy) and the food was so good I spent way too much money, the biggest problem. I will for sure go back next time I'm in town.
