Noodle Bar
215 Reservation Rd, Marina, CA 93933, United States
Amazing little noodle shop! Ive had the shrimp, pho, wonton soup and the boba drinks so far, and each of them has been fantastic. Never had to wait more than a few minutes to be seated and the staff is fast, efficient, cheerful and very attentive. Really great shop. Go, you wont be disappointed!

Rojeh Melikian, MD - Spine Surgeon
4551 Glencoe Ave Suite #145, Marina Del Rey, CA 90292, United States
I have been dealing with neck and upper back pain that extended into my right shoulder and down my arm for pretty much the last decade. Herniated discs, spinal stenosis, cervical radiculopathy, spinal cord compression (thankfully without symptoms)—these words dominated my 30's and 40's. I have seen eight different spine surgeons in LA—orthopedic and neuro—as well as a handful of physical therapists, chiropractors, and physiatrists. Among this cast of characters were some highly decorated, highly recommended practitioners, who would look at my imaging, listen to me describe my symptoms, and then tell me something completely different from the last doctor I saw (who was also supposedly “the best.”) It was super frustrating.Until I saw Dr. Melikian. I think my appointment with him might have been the first one that didn't end with me crying in my car afterwards. He seemed like a *real person* who saw me as a *real person* too. He asked me what I did for a living, asked how old my kids were (I seriously don't think any of the previous surgeons EVER asked me that simple question!), and he listened intently. Does he remember the answers to those questions? Probably not, but I don't even care, because his bedside manner is phenomenal! He's also clearly knowledgeable about developments in spine therapeutics and technology, as well as the strengths and weaknesses of the different implants (but in no way tried to sell me on a particular product, which I felt a previous doctor did do.) Dr. Melikian spent time going over my imaging, gave me plenty of time to ask questions, and gave an objective assessment of the condition of my spine. He didn't dismiss or minimize, but he also didn't try to scare me or pressure me. (He even made me laugh—if you want someone with a real sense of humor, he's your guy!)But the most important thing he gave me, that no one else had given me yet, was simple: hope. Not false hope for perfection, but just realistic hope that he could actually help me feel better.I'm writing this review with tears of gratitude in my eyes, one week to the day after having a two disc replacement (c4-5 and c5-6). I woke up from the surgery as many others do, “pain-free,” but I knew I was on a ton of drugs and didn't want to get my hopes up. I didn't trust that the nothingness I felt in my right arm would stay once the narcotics wore off. (So I got off them as fast as I could!) All I can say is, so far, so good, and the hope is still going strong. My muscles and nerves are still recovering, but I just had my first post-op appointment (also satisfyingly thorough) and all is normal and progressing as expected.Everyone at the surgery center in Marina Del Rey was fabulous, by the way—the nurses, OR nurse, nerve monitor, and anesthesiologist (I forget his name, started with an “A”, but I got a rockstar there, too!) It was obvious they all held Dr. Melikian in high regard, too, and I felt secure, safe, and cared for, all around. (And I dont want to forget Cecilia, his assistant...she is competent and wonderful, too!)I can't believe that I waited as long as I did for this surgery, but I'm also glad I did, because it happened at the right time and place, with the right doctor. While ADR still seems like a young-ish procedure, even if something weird happens, or I have a new pain flare-up, or I need a subsequent surgery later on at a different level or something, I will go wherever Dr. M. is. He has my complete trust, and my spine is (literally!) in his hands from now on. I wouldn't have found my way to him without these reviews, so maybe this will help someone else find him (and some hope!), too.
Costco Wholesale
13463 Washington Blvd, Marina Del Rey, CA 90292, United States
Costco, great for meat, terrible for tires. This had been our go to Costco until today. We had a flat tire and stopped in to get it replaced. We were told it might be repairable and charged $20.00 to check. It would take 2.5 hours. We picked a replacement tire and waited to see the results. 3 hours and 45 minutes later we were told the tire was not repairable. We asked for the new tire, but were told that we could only buy two tires. Having recently purchased the tires that are on the car, we asked if they could just change the one. We were told that would not be possible because the old tires had different speed ratings and that if only one were put on, the car would spin out. Our car, like nearly ever other car since 1958 has a differential in the rear axle that allows the tires to move at different speeds without effecting the vehicles ability to move forward or causing a lack of traction. I asked the Automotive Manager about this, but he would not acknowledge my question. When he once again began claiming if we did not change out both rear tires, we would spin out and wreck the vehicle I told him I understood what he was saying, but did not want to argue. They offered to install the doughnut for us and we accepted. As we began to walk away he once again, rather rudely kept trying to argue his point. They put on the doughnut. Apparently its speed rating didnt matter. I drove down the road and purchased a new tire from Pep Boys. It turned out to be cheaper and faster and there were no rude mechanics. To top it all off, they just threw the old tire in the backseat without even asking. There was plenty of room in the trunk where the doughnut came from. If your only going to sell two tires, please let people know up front. Why even give pricing for one tire if you will only sell two?
VENICE RAMEN
515 Washington Blvd, Marina Del Rey, CA 90292, United States
Just tried tonight and turned into one of my favorite spots. They have 4 locations, starting in shubuya, so it's legit stuff out here. Try the first thing on the menu. Asahi beer too - whambo blamo combo if you ask me. Tight staff and one tv screen that shows high speed footage of people in Shibuya, you know that one intersection that a lot of people cross at. I remember I went a while ago and didn't really get that feeling on the ground, like sure it was a bunch of people, but maybe I went at an off hour, where it was just some tourists and business men trying to get to their next location, I feel like 85 percent of them weren't even thinking “damn this is the super famous cross that people speed up and put on TVs in Venice beach, but hey, when you're getting to work or your family, last thing on your mind.I think that has to do something with familiarity and novelty. When you do something, meet someone, visit somewhere for the first time, it always feels so exciting. Eventually it wears off, but I feel like life is all about reinvigorating these areas you onced love. If you loved something at one point in your life, it must be true to some extent. Your heart never forgets, you just need to remind it sometimes. One thing is the egg could be a little more runny. And I like how they serve the beer in a frosted mug - nice touch
Asian Market
3056 Del Monte Blvd Suite 100, Marina, CA 93933, United States
Terrible service. Staff working there was unpredictably rude. I was standing behind a lady, and the man working at the cashier bluntly pointed at me and asked me to stand at a different position to line up. While I didn't know the difference of two positions I stood(cuz there was literally no one after me), the worse thing was that don't accept discover as a form of payment. After I tried using another Visa card, the cashier guy just yelled at me “PIN!PIN!PIN!” as if I don't know how to enter my PIN. It turned out that my Visa card has expired, and I politely asked him if they take Venmo/PayPal. The man again pointed at me and yelled “you have the wrong card” without answering my questions. I just stood there for a second, didn't know what to do and finally had to leave. I wish they had better customer service.
New Korea Restaurant
300-D Carmel Ave, Marina, CA 93933, United States
Koreans are known for their warmth and hospitality. So it was a rude shock to the system to come across such awful awful manners. Arriving at 8.02pm after a 2 hour journey, we entered the restaurant which clearly posted that they close at 9pm. A family of 5 ahead of us had just been seated. When our party of 2 asked to be seated - we were told sorry we cant have you dining in after 8pm. Somewhat shocked since it was literally 2 mins after 8pm when we entered, we politely asked since its only a few mins after 8 and we had just driven 2 hours to get here if they could accommodate. In face we said we would be happy to eat quickly since we knew they closed at 9pm - the man at the cashier countered yelled absolutely not as we would take 2 hours to eat. If you want to eat you can get take out At this point, I told my partner that we should leave - Im sorry I dont believe in finding bad business and least of all people who cant display common courtesy. We then drove to another Korean restaurant in Monterey by this time it was 845pm. Almost as if god was trying to make a point about good human beings - the owner of this restaurant, Wonju, was the completely opposite of New Korean. She welcomed us in even though they close at 930pm and when she found out my partner was Korean, we suddenly felt like we were in relatives kitchen. The food was served with love, and she came over to talk to us and we had the warmest conversation about family and food. Both my partner and I were just blown away by the owners hospitality confirming what I said about Korean restaurants and their warm hospitality. We also said that we both have had the privilege of eating all over the world - yet weve never seen anything close to the likes of how poorly we were treated at New Korea restaurant. Dont be fooled by the Yelp ratings - just sort it by lowest rating and youll see that consistently this restraint and its staff have no regard for basic courtesy. Like I said if someone wants to treat you poorly - why would you want to fund that? Find a real restaurant and local business owner who welcomes you and truly wants your business.
Mendocino Farms
4724 Admiralty Way, Marina Del Rey, CA 90292, United States
A great place to grab a quick bite, Mendocino Farms offers a la carte sandwiches and salads made with locally sourced ingredients. My favorites are:Kurobuta Pork Belly Banh Mi: The pork belly is caramelized and has minimal to almost no fat. The housemade pickled daikon & carrots help cut through the richness of the meat. Jalapeño adds a nice bite and the cucumbers a cooling effect.Vegan Dosa: A different approach to a Masala Dosa, this one is wrapped in a whole wheat tortilla, or as I call it a Mexican Roti. Similar flavors are at play with coconut curried cauliflower mash and Tamarind and mint chutney. Braised jackfruit adds a meaty texture and fills out this vegan dish to make it filling.Kale Caesar: A salad that doesnt feel like punishment. Hearty kale is mixed with tender butter lettuce and crisp romaine. The lemon Parmesan vinaigrette packs flavor without weighing this salad down. Crispy wheatberries, red onions, grape tomatoes, and avocado add dimension. Add chicken if you need extra protein.PB3: this one is on the secret menu and only occasionally available. Gooey, crunchy, salty, sweet this is the holy grail of a peanut butter sandwich. It has house made peanut butter, bacon, crispy apples, caramelized bananas and honey roasted almonds all on panini grilled bread. Its decadent, its messy, and elusive but if its available it will not dissapoint. Also any sandwich can be made into a salad, ask for their dressing recommendation. They have yet to fail me. Call ahead or visit their website for their sides and soup selection. Everything is made fresh so running out of an item is a possibility. If you are dead set on getting something and its later in the day its worthy calling ahead.Beverages include craft beer, Pucks made with real sugar sodas, lemonade, juice and milk for the childrens menu.Indoor seating is limited, large groups may need to split. There is outdoor seating but it is shared with the other eateries.
Pho Lucky Noodle House
266 Reservation Rd, Marina, CA 93933, United States
In my opinion this is the best Pho on the peninsula ( it’s all about the broth!). There are 15 different Pho dishes, including a vegetarian option. The summer spring rolls are delicious and there is a wide range of noodle and rice dishes as well. They don’t rush you out, even when they are busy. It’s in a very old shopping center/ strip mall and you might not stop here unless someone told you about it. Well I am telling you, you should make a point to stop in for a meal.
Im Thai Cuisine
3170 Vista Del Camino Rd, Marina, CA 93933, United States
Im Thai Cuisine is one of those rare places that got it right. For us, the balance of great food, good ambience, and great service along with genuine interactions from the staff and owners, puts a place on our list of places to return to.Although a smallish casual space, the entire venue is warmly appointed and lends to many aspects of rich Thai culture that is welcoming and peaceful. There are booths and tables that can accommodate quite a few.The menu is diverse, lending to the western palate, but there is plenty of traditional Thai faire to choose from. We have now sampled a number of noodle and rice dishes, each surpassing our expectations, and every appetizer has been fresh, and incredibly delicious. I could easily have had a meal of small plates, simply based on appetizers! There is a full section for vegetarian/vegan meals on the menu, and the way in which they cook their tofu is awesome. The highlight of our most recent visit was the Pineapple duck curry. Having a Thai person in our party, they had high expectations, and this was one of the best curries he had eaten here in America. It was superb. I cannot really describe it. Just go eat it.There is an accessible bathroom and accessible parking and a ramp outside. Warning: There is a smoke shop nearby and a lot of 10min parking in the lot also, which seems to lead to many drivers being unaware of the accessible crossing and almost running people down! Weve witnessed it twice. People seem to be in a great hurry. Perhaps there is another reason, but it wont stop us from going back to Im Thai Cuisine!
