Chins Szechwan - Oceanside
4140 Oceanside Blvd, Oceanside, CA 92056, United States
The first Chin's I went to was in Encinitas. I had no idea there was a Chin's close by to where I live. I was really craving salt and pepper shrimp, which authentic Chinese restaurants usually make it very delectable. Hot and crispy is the best. Chin's does not have salt and pepper shrimp on their menu, but I thought I'd give it a try by calling and asking anyways. I called and spoke to the host/front desk person, and he was so kind and friendly. He said they don't make it, but he knows exactly what I am requesting and will have the kitchen make it just for me. It won't be exactly the same as I want it where the shell and head left on rather the shrimp shell will he peeled and no head. I thought I'd give it a shot and try. I also ordered the Schezwan Eggplant. This dish is one of the top dishes I like from Chin's. It's so tasty! When I went to pick up my order, the host I spoke to over the phone was there. Just as he was on the phone he was so kind and provided amazing customer service. I really like how he showed me what I ordered to make sure it's what I ordered. There was one other employee who mentioned “it smelled so good,” and she didn't even know they made that. I love how the host and I joked that my my salt and pepper shrimp order is from the secret menu and only made by special request. I love add some spice to my food. I almost walked out the door without asking for the chili oil sauce, and the host remembered to ask me if I wanted that. Yes please! My order also came with rice. The shrimp did not taste like the usual salt and pepper shrimp dish, but it worked.Due to a great customer service experience and the food being delectable, I would recommend going to Chin's again.

Tasty Pot Oceanside
1058 Mission Ave, Oceanside, CA 92054, United States
If I could give 10/10 stars, I would. This is the best restaurant in the entire shopping center, and probably the best Asian food in Oceanside. The food was superb. We got the kimchi pot, “very spicy” (the spice lever was on point), and the veggie pot, not spicy at all, shared between 2 adults and 2 children, and had a whole serving of leftovers for tomorrow. The server was excellent and walked us through the experience with ease. The tv in the dining area was playing videos of a woman in Asia cooking authentic food with American pop music playing over the speakers. The atmosphere was fun and inviting. Well worth the money and the time. I'm already looking forward to returning. *Plus, this is an amazing exchange for the previous tenants of this location, different type of food and with whom we always had issues. Thank you so much for taking over this spot of the building and bringing your food and vibe to Oceanside!
The Plot
1733 S Coast Hwy, Oceanside, CA 92054, United States
Honestly, my biggest complaint about this place is that they arent closer to east county. ??♂️ But Id definitely spend half a tank of gas to come here again. ? I came with my Dad and this was his first full vegan meal and hes a steak n potatoes, midwestern boi so I was eager to see his reaction to it.*THERE IS A SMALL PARKING LOT BEHIND THE RESTAURANT THROUGH A CHAIN LINK FENCE WITH A BLUE SIGN TO THE LEFT OF IT THAT SAYS THE PLOT* Dont miss it like my Dad did, mkay? ?Got there and a decent dinner service going on. Quickly sat by the hostess and greeted by our lovely server (Jen was it? ?). Ordered a couple drinks and the taköyaki kind of hush puppies. My Dad ordered kombucha (which hes never had before) and actually enjoyed it (I mean, whats not to like ?). The hush puppies were off the chain! Warm and slightly crispy outside with a soft and flakey inside paired with a cold slaw that offers an awesome contrast of sweet/salty, warm/chilled, soft/crunchy, and some zip in the flavor as well. A very well balanced starter! Dads opinion - he liked it! Off to a good start!Next up, we both ordered the fresh heart of palm stir fry. This dish was amazing! And my Dad loved it too! The presentation had a lot of pop to it - although I wouldve liked smaller pieces of the yellow pickles; they were a little tough to cut and large slices (gorgeous garnish tho). The dull butter knives had a hard time getting through the pickle. BUT definitely not a reason for me to ding them, this dish was still on point! The contrast is texture was awesome! Plenty of crunch and chew. Flavors were spot on as well. I usually add some sort of sauce to most restaurant meals but this one didnt need it! I was full by the time I was nearing my last few bites but I couldnt stop. So I sit here type this overstuffed. #NoRagretsAt the finish of the meal we were offered desert but I was trying to make peace with the fact that i couldnt even finish my beer, I was so full. But our awesome server brought us two complimentary wellness shots that were a very potent blend of veggie/fruit juices and couple dry pepper types.Let me tell you people now, Ive taken some wellness shots in my day and I thought I could handle whatever they threw at me. But I was not prepared for that one. That shot was one spicy boi going down and for minutes after. But yo, that was still delicious tho. ?All in all, this place was great! Ill have to find some time and someone to take to this spot when I can! Definitely worth the drive!

Guahan Grill
4259 Oceanside Blvd #104, Oceanside, CA 92056, United States
The food of my (moms) people! I havent had Chamorro cuisine in a long time and this is one of the few times Ive had it out since Ive only really had it homemade.Ive somewhat had this place in mind and Im happy I finally got the chance to try them out.ITEMS ORDERED:Locals Deluxe (w/ mac salad & pork spare ribs)Chamorro Style Fried Chicken (w/ mac salad)EmpanadaTASTE:All the comforting feels for me as I ate my way through all the different items. I already had certain flavors in mind of how specific items would taste and the dishes all pretty much fit that.I had to go with the pork spareribs instead of the chicken option since I always enjoyed them as a kid at all the Chamorro parties. I was already expecting flavors of soy sauce and vinegar in an almost too strong way and these ribs were just that, in the best way. I say too strong because I think if you have never had these, you might at first find it a little too flavored, but once you get a bite with some red rice, its all good.Red rice is a staple with this cuisine and works well with any protein. The vibrant color is more dramatic than the flavor since its more subtle with just notes of salt & garlic I like to think. The mac salad was simple & good. I like the nicely sized portion of it compared to what you get at the Hawaiian chains these days. Compared to the mac salad at Hawaiian places, this is much less sweet. Also, I was surprised to not see potato salad as an option since Im more used to having that side dish more.I dont believe Ive ever had Chamorro Style Fried Chicken but Ill say its comparable to fried chicken, minus the breading part. So the crunch is not there, but also comes across less heavy. The Empanada I always view as a specialty item since since whenever Ive had it before it was in limited amounts and it always ran out. Its basically a nicely flavored shredded chicken mixture inside a crispy shell. Im use to a little more spice, which these werent, but they still were so good. Great freshly fried texture.SERVICE:The one girl who both took the order and brought the food out was very kind and friendly.LOCATION & PARKING:They are located in little shopping plaza which includes an IHOP with lots of parking so you shouldnt have a problem with that. Youll get all the warm, island feels inside with the woody interior and Chamorro styling.Im partial to this cuisine since I had it so much as a child. If you are looking for a comforting meal or something new and pretty approachable be sure to find your way to Guahan Grill.Cheers!
Thai Table Time
1910 Oceanside Blvd STE D, Oceanside, CA 92054, United States
This is a great little Thai restaurant with some pretty good dishes. We ordered the following dishes:1) Glass Noodle Salad was super flavorful and it really hit my Thai salad craving. A great dish to share!2) Pad Prink Khing. My cousin chose this dish bcs she's had it before at the restaurant and thinks it's pretty authentic. It was my first time having this dish and I loved it! I will definitely be looking for this dish at other Thai restaurants in the future.3) Pork with Basil. Not what I'm use to so it was disappointing. Too much random vegetables made it more like a “chop suey” and you couldn't taste much of the basil. The pork was well cooked and vegetables were fresh.4) Pad Thai. I liked that they used the skinnier noodles bcs usually it's the thicker noodles. It saucier than I prefer and bcs of that the noodles weren't as “al dente”. The flavor and taste was still good though.5) Duck curry. No picture bcs they forgot about this dish & when they brought it out, we just tried it and forgot to take a photo. I thought it was ok. I felt like there was no strong curry or coconut flavor that I was expecting. I felt like the duck was not fresh but like day old or something. I wouldn't order it again but my cousin's husband loved it.6) Thai ice coffee is bigger than most restaurants and stronger (ie. Less evaporated milk). I had to have them add more milk but still could've used more. I enjoyed it nonetheless and next time would really like to try the Thai Ice tea.Overall, yes I would definitely come back to this restaurant when I'm in town to visit my cousin.
SONU BBQ
3744 Mission Ave, Oceanside, CA 92058, United States
It was our first time eating at SONU, but it definitely will not be our last! We were seated very quickly (hint: arrive early!), And our waiter was extremely fast with service the entire night. The proteins and veggies were fresh and amazing. The cook top was replaced frequently. We never ran out of anything and it all tasted amazing. Obviously becareful with kids because the grill is hot and within arms reach, but let them join in and help cook. They be needless at how fast everything come, you can use the time to teach about differences in cooking styles, and how to know when something is cooked enough to eat. Seeing is believing! Here are a few tips Id suggest.- Make a reservation or get there early. I didnt realize how busy it was, but when we left there was a line out the door and around the building of people waiting.- Let your grill cover get hot before you start cooking and request a new grill cover between every order.- You cant go wrong with any of the proteins or veggies. Pork belly takes longer to cook and the octopus is whole. Unless youre an octopus expert it can be chewy so maybe go with the shrimp instead.- The point is to enjoy some social time while youre cooking. Try new foods and have a blast!
Gaja Korean BBQ
2693 Vista Way, Oceanside, CA 92054, United States
One of the things I love about this place is the robot service. Ordering through the iPad is incredibly convenient, and the robots swiftly delivered the food to our table. It added a unique and futuristic touch to the dining experience. The pricing is very reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food. I found the food to be of high quality, which made the dining experience all the more enjoyable. The restaurant provides ample seating and has a great atmosphere. The comfortable seating arrangements, combined with the lively ambiance, created a pleasant and inviting environment to enjoy the meal. Additionally, they offer a digital queue system through Yelp, allowing you to join the queue before arriving or walk around while waiting for your table. This added convenience is a definite plus. However, one area that could use improvement is the inconsistency with the robot service. While the majority of our orders were delivered by robots, there were instances where staff members brought out items or removed food from the robots themselves. This inconsistency took away from the novelty and efficiency of the robot service.Furthermore, I noticed that the bathrooms had an unpleasant odor. It was quite noticeable and detracted from an otherwise positive dining experience. Improving the cleanliness and addressing the smell issue in the bathrooms would greatly enhance the overall customer experience.Despite these minor drawbacks, Gaja Korean BBQ remains a highly recommended dining option. The exceptional robot service, reasonable pricing, delicious food, ample seating, and inviting atmosphere make it a standout choice for Korean BBQ enthusiasts. With a few improvements, they have the potential to become even better!
Teri Cafe - Oceanside II
3809 Plaza Dr #101, Oceanside, CA 92056, United States
Our family recently had the pleasure of dining at Teris Cafe in Oceanside, and I must say, it was an outstanding experience! The food was delicious, the service was exceptional, and the atmosphere was charming and inviting. What makes Teris Cafe particularly special to me is its rich history in our local community. I Can remember eating this in high school 20 years ago and thinking then and even now, this is a really great place to eat. The restaurant has been a beloved fixture in Oceanside for over 50 years, serving up home-style comfort food and warm hospitality to generations of loyal customers. In fact, Teris Cafe is one of the oldest family-owned and operated restaurants in the area, and it has a reputation for being a must-try destination for anyone visiting the town. But beyond the food, what really sets Teris Cafe apart is the warmth and personality of its staff. From the moment you walk in the door, you feel like youre part of the family. Its no wonder that so many locals and tourists alike make it a point to stop by Teris Cafe whenever theyre in town. All in all, I highly recommend Teris Cafe to anyone looking for a delicious meal and a taste of local history in Oceanside. Whether youre a longtime fan or a first-time visitor, youre sure to leave feeling satisfied and happy.
