Food wait times can be very long. Order first then go shopping! Good value compared to Din Tai Fung Dan Dan noodles, but of course, the atmosphere is not as good.

LHK Noodle Bar

I visited this location on July 15th, 2013.To begin with, the service was less than welcoming as the wait staff didnt even bother to acknowledge my party of 8 when we walked in; they merely stared at us until we took the initiative to claim our own table. As we seated ourselves, one of the employees walked over and literally tossed some menus onto the table. The thoughtless service continued as they merely took our order without bothering to make us feel welcome in the establishment.Secondly, I could actually excuse this sort of treatment from a privately owned restaurant because they dont really have anyone to hold them accountable to their actions, but what happened next is inexcusable for any one in the food service industry:ROACHES. NOT ONE, BUT TWO OF THEM. My party and I were alerted to them when the table across from us started screaming, with one of the patrons jumping out of the booth as one of the roaches had crawled onto her skin. Both of the roaches were large, at least 1inch long, and were probably what most people would classify as Oriental cockroaches (google them if you need more information); they are large, disgusting roaches.Well, the first roach that was swatted landed on the floor and ran underneath another booth. The second one ran from the table top and into another booth as well. The table who encountered the roaches went and notified the staff immediately and left in a hurry, no doubt because of their horrifying experience. What makes this situation even worse was the RESPONSE OF THE STAFF, WHICH WAS NOTHING; NOTHING AT ALL! Eventually, both roaches came out of hiding and went back to the first booth where they came out of, no doubt to finish the Chinese food that was left by the family that ran out of the building. My table and I alerted the staff that the roaches returned and not a single one of them even bothered to come over to the tables to try and kill these disgusting creatures. Eventually, other tables started to notice the two roaches and started complaining as well. FINALLY, one of the waiters comes over and says, oh its ok, its ok, were good, were good. BUT, he doesnt even try to kill the roaches! He merely chased them around and when they ran under another table to hide he gave up and just went back to work! Now, I have been in the restaurant industry as an employee and a Manager for over 15 years. I will tell all of you people who arent in the industry a simple but harsh fact: ALL RESTAURANTS HAVE PEST PROBLEMS; the key however, is how that restaurant handles it. Quality restaurants have a solid pest control program in place and you will almost never see a pest. However, places like THIS ONE where the employees dont even seem to care theyre in the presence of food and guests tells me that this is a regular occurence in their establishment. What other sanitation and safety matters are they also ignoring? Its very easy to get sick at a public restaurant if the staff isnt careful about the food theyre handling and the pests that are about the place.Additionally, heres another reason to stay away from this place: there was no hand soap in EITHER THE MENS OR WOMENS restrooms, which invariably means that the staff may not be washing their hands after using the toilet, or perhaps theyre not washing their hands at all.For the sake of your peace of mind as well as your HEALTH, I strongly recommend not eating at this establishment unless, just like the staff, you dont care about disease carrying cockroaches served with your food either...

My family and I use to go to this place a lot a couple years back and I finally revisited today. This is a great Vietnamese & Khmer restaurant with a lot of variety on the menu. Ive loved everything Ive tried from here but especially their stir fried noodles.Today I tried the chou zhou noodles (hu tieu nam vang) which is one of my favorite foods. You can order the soup or dry version, but I opted for the soup. I usually go to another spot nearby for this, but its not bad from here! Its cheaper (only $10.50 including tax) and doesnt include the intestines/liver, but the broth was so good. The pork was delicious and so tender. It also does not include green veggies and only had bean sprouts. For the price, it was a really fulfilling and delicious meal. I really enjoyed it, and it stayed hot until I got home. This space is huge, I dont think there is ever a wait. Also dont be fooled and think there is just street parking because they have their own parking lot in the back.

Just not good. Ordered a soft-boiled ramen egg. It was a standard hard boiled egg. Um, I can do that myself at home. Got the orange chicken. The chicken was thoroughly dry. I can also do that myself, but better. Got the shrimp wonton noodles. The shrimp wontons were tasty. Im pretty sure the noodles came from a box. I was hoping this place would be as good as Pure Thai next door, but its just not good at all.

Menya Ultra
8199 Clairemont Mesa Blvd M, San Diego, CA 92111, United States
For a place that has a line before the venue even opens, offers no comfort outside for the long wait times, isnt very comfortable on the inside, is littered with grammar mistakes on their website and other materials, and is conflicted on whether it should be calling itself Menya Ultra or Ramen Ultra: youd expect that the food would have to speak for itself. They make it very obvious of listing their accolades big and bold on their large window display as well as the entire back page of their menu. Yes, the ramen is excellent, but is it the best place Ive had? Considering that the long wait is the most stressful part of the experience for me, I wont be jumping at the chance to come here again. I dont have much experience with ramen, but there isnt really anything this place has to offer any more than others Ive been too. In fact, when it comes to the menu, it offers far less in the way of appetizers than other places. The quality of the ramen is great, but I cant say its significantly better than what Ive had before. There is a digital sign-up sheet on the outside of the venue that txts your phone your current wait time. It said our wait time was initially 36 minutes but we didnt get seated until 50 minutes. The hostess seemed concerned with moving as quickly as possible. She did not have the most booming voice so when she came out to call the next party, you cant be distracted otherwise you may not hear her; and she seems to only call your name once and if you dont answer, she moves on. Waiting and wondering if we had missed our chance was by far my least enjoyable and stressful part of the whole experience. It seemed that any parties greater than three were subject to discussion with the hostess as to how to accommodate and the looks on the customers faces seemed to indicate that significant sacrifices were to be made. Once we sat down, things moved very quickly and we were back out the door in about 45 minutes though we didnt feel rushed and I even ordered their single dessert. We filled out the order sheet ourselves and the waitress transcribed it very systematically on her own which proved that they have a very quick food prep time as our ramen and appetizer came out at the same time and only a few minutes after we ordered. All of the food was excellent and the staff was very nice. I wish there was more of a selection of appetizers and desserts, but its clear that the ramen is the focus of this place.

RAKIRAKI Ramen & Tsukemen
4646 Convoy St #102-A, San Diego, CA 92111, United States
This review is based on a one-time experience. Yasai, Raki Raki, and Matsuoka are all the same establishment.Ordered the tantanmen vegetarian ramen and shiokaze roll. Food was decent, 3.5/5, but rating this place low because of how concerning the hygienic practices are. wouldnt eat here again.- Witnessed a server step on food on the floor, pick it off the underside of her shoe, did not wash with soap and water or sanitizer, proceeded to handle clean utensils for customers.- There is a bucket that they keep ON THE FLOOR to store the towel which is used to clean tables with. See picture for details. Never saw the towel replaced despite being used on multiple surfaces.- The soy sauce/condiments are stored damn near on the floor and next to trash can (so many dirty shoes kicking up dirt...) and thats what they use to serve to customers.- Restroom was not clean- Same towel used to wipe down dirty chair, and *then* the table top.- I was handed a dirty spoon- Wooden lids used to cover ramen bowls are not washed in between serving to customers. They just take the lid off after serving to you, and put it back into a basket with other used wooden lids, then reuse that same lid when another bowl is about to be served to someone else. I saw dried up food/sauce on top of my lid when my food was served.Yeah so the place was pretty dirty. Servers were nice though. But the food isnt worth it to come back again when there are other options in the city.

The definition of legit pho in San Diego. We recently discovered Pho Hoa after lets just say, were huge fans. When you walk in, you can definitely tell this establishment has been here for long time.No thrills. No BS. Straight up, I can already imagine that this place has been a local pho shop for many generations of clients. During the entire time of our meal, we saw multiple people walk in and out with boxes of take out orders. It was an insane consistent flow of clients. I couldnt help, but smile at this small local business thriving during this global pandemic. If youre new to pho, just get #1 or #2. If youre extra cautious, pho with beef balls is also a safe starter bowl as well.I ordered #2 and it was delicious. Very, very generous with toppings, meat and noodles. I had little to no complaints here, as each bite was insanely addicting. I couldnt help, but continue eating, spoonful and after spoonful. Pure authentic broth.Yes, the area is outside your usual San Diego neighborhood. Yes, it is a bit rough. And hey, the place isnt glamorous either. But if youre looking for some legit, authentic pho, I definitely recommend checking out Pho Hoa. Ill be back for sure!

Pure Thai & Vegetarian Cuisine
3704 Voltaire St #105, San Diego, CA 92107, United States
BAD quality and service! We used to love Pure Thai, but after today we will not be returning...Veggie Gyozas came cold, Papaya Salad overly spicy (for being #3 ...and we know the scale), and Avocado Veggie Curry lacked flavor with some pieces of the eggplant being NASTY (we literally had to spit them out in disgust). When we politely shared the feedback with two separate waitresses who asked about our meal, both independently made the excuse that they were “busy” (which they were not... and even if so that should not be a valid excuse) and that they would “try harder next time” - to which we kindly replied that there won't be a next time.Pure Thai just lost some previously very loyal customers and evangelist who had brought many people to their restaurant. SAD!They did not even care enough for the manager to come speak to us!Most of all, we are disappointed because we used to love Pure Thai so much, but that was the last time and we will not be going back.
