ReMix Asian Kitchen & Ramen
9450 Stockdale Hwy, Bakersfield, CA 93311, United States
I miss them so much. They were hands down my favorite restaurant and I don't know where they went!I went to Remix to celebrate, to eat, to feel better, to unwind, to prepare, and to feel welcomed: it was a place where I felt at peace as if the food was healing. You can't pay enough for a place or people or food that makes you feel that way.Flame and Fire, O Ramen, Hon Ramen, Bentos, Vice Roy, Frugatties, and Hungry Hunter can't hold a candle to Remix and now that they are gone eating out isn't the same. The pork was always nice and thick pieces that were so tender they'd fall apart on your chop sticks! The broth was always creamy yet light and perfectly seasoned! The egg was always so well seasoned, and perfectly soft and creamy! the noodles!!!!! The noodles were always perfect and never ever slimy. Not to mention the staff: I loved talking with them, and they always remembered my wife and I, even if it had been several months: they always seemed l humble, and when I was at their table, I felt like I was welcomed by everybody, the owner would tell me about Japan and where he got his inspiration, his sister always remembered our orders, the young lady that worked the counter and cooked was always quick and very tidy, and the older woman who cooked knew how to make the food PERFECT and together their food and their restaurant made me smile. It's been a little over 3 months since they closed, maybe longer, so I finally broke down and went to O Ramen and it was so bad I nearly cried! The noodles were slimy, the egg tasted like smoke, the pork was as thin as deli meat, and the broth tasted like buttermilk!!! Not to mention my chicken katsu was so over cooked that the meat shriveled inside the breading. Maybe that's traditional ramen, I don't really know, but it tasted processed and over cooked.Remix I miss you and your whole family: it makes you guys who you are, and it makes you the best: even if you don't have a line out the door every Saturday night. Please come back, Bakersfield needs you!

Wife and I came in today to eat. We arrived right at 11am. A family was already seated at one of the booths near the window. We could hear a worker in the back scooping ice. We patiently waited for 20 minutes. I said hello loudly a couple of times. We never saw the employee. We were hungry so we left to go eat at another restaurant. This may be a good place to eat. I guess well never know. Both my wifes Life 360 gps location app and mine; with real-time time stamps confirms my time frames and the truth / accuracy of this review. Along with both of us sending texts to our family that we just arrived and those have time stamps as well and also sending texts that we were leaving. I have no motive to be dishonest. So, the owner saying my review isnt truth is about all I need to know about this business. They wont own up to or apologize for their mistake. Also, I would argue that only 8 minutes is too long to wait just to be seated when it isnt busy. Even though it was 20 minutes. I originally asked my wife not to post a review. Now Im reconsidering that decision.

We have no idea why this place is not overly crowded. Its really hard to find authentic and good tasting Asian food in a small City like bakersfield. But alas we have found it! The Thai food restaurant is a place to make a destination on your travels or if youre a local you should certainly take time to come here yourself. You have not ever experienced spice until you have tried any of their spicy food. For a spice lover my spouse had the medium and was about in tears! We love to the vibe that the restaurant itself procured from the declarations and the music going on in the background. Once again very surprised that we were the only ones in the entire restaurant. They had quite a few takeout orders coming in. Our service was actually very quick, he believed this is because they put their sit down customers above takeout customers. This is something to value in todays restaurant industry. We hate it when we have to go into a restaurant and sit there for 2 hours when the takeout would have only taken 15 minutes. The service was above par with the friendly staff who was not overbearing.
Thai House Restaurant

So this is my fourth time coming to this restaurant and last!! the first 3 times coming i had no problem and the food was very good, but unfortunately this time the waitress was very very rude to me and my family we were the only hispanics at that time i dont know if this was a racist action or what, but she was responding rude to us and final thing she charged us $19 dolars because we came in a group of 5 adults and 2 kids! She says the groups of more than 5 or more they charge a sitting fee that its expecify somewhere on the menu!!! Sorry but for me this is totally crazy since you are already paying for food and service and they have to be prepared to received people kindly and paying to eat inside the restaurant for my opinión its completely crazy!
Moo Creamery
4885 Truxtun Ave, Bakersfield, CA 93309, United States
I've been to this location to dine in and ordered out, I've never had issues, I've had to wait for pickup orders a couple of time but that's never been a problem, I like their food . I eat their food about 3-4 times a month. The food is great, but the service is poor. My experience today was poor. Idk if they are short staffed but I had a pickup order and needless to say that my order was incorrect. I was given a paper bag and half my order was missing, unfortunately I didn't realize this until I got home. So I had to call the location. One of the workers answered, she was polite, she stated that I'd be transferred my call to the person that took my order, so I was placed on hold. After a couple of minutes a gentleman came on the line and I told him my issue and he was very polite and apologized for his mistake and I politely told him that it was ok, because I knew the place was swamped because I noticed when I originally went to pick up my order the first time around. The gentleman on the call offered to make the missing order, he offered to deliver it to my home but he stated that it would take I'm about an hour tho because they were super busy, I told him that it wouldn't be necessary to deliver and I would be there to pick it up. He was very polite and thanked me for my patience and said he'd give me a complimentary token for the inconvenience. He stated that my order would be ready in 20-25 minutes. After waiting about 30 minutes at home, I went to pick up my order for the second time. My order was ready when I arrived, unfortunately idk if again there was another communication issue but the gentleman at the counter was trying to charge me$$ for the chips that were placed with my order which I'm guessing were the offered as a complimentary token for my time and patience according the gentleman whom I spoke to on the phone, because of the mistake that was made to my original order. I explained that the chips were not part of my original order and explained the whole conversation I had on the phone with the gentleman I spoke with to the gentleman behind the counter, the gentleman behind just looked at me in awkward silence and what felt like a long awkward pause, clearly he didn't know if to continue to charge me for the token or not. I nicely asked him to remove it because I honestly just wanted the order I paid for, I didn't need the complimentary token that was offered and now clearly I'm being charged for. Not very complimentary in my agenda but I didn't ask nor expected free food. The whole reason that I'm actually writing this experiment on here is because, my experience was a little embarrassing and awkward. I walked out of the location feeling like I was the one that made the mistake. I will definitely not be ordering online for a while. Bad experience teach us good lessons. For the readers, I recommend you dine in.
O Ramen
5139 Ming Ave, Bakersfield, CA 93309, United States
I would guess this a fusion restaurant. But it combines Asian cuisines. I had a ton katsu. Which was served on pan fried udon with some amazing sauce. It was pretty good. But when I was full it meshed together into this extreme delicious-ness. I couldnt stop eating it. OMG it was so good.
Soy & Spice Cafe
4725 Panama Ln suite d-13, Bakersfield, CA 93313, United States
Excellent food preparation! What they offer is authentic. Great staff, helpful and friendly. Standouts are the pad Thai, drunken noodles, salt and pepper combo, and yellow curry. Comparative to other restaurants offering this pan Asian cuisine, they hold their own with lower price, higher service and quality of the dishes served. Will return often.
Vallarta Supermarkets
8200 Rosedale Hwy, Bakersfield, CA 93312, United States
Vibrant, colorful, expertly-themed: If Disney made a Coco-themed grocery store, this Vallarta is the incarnation.I hadnt realized the previous store had vacated, so I was surprised and intrigued when I saw signage for a new Vallarta a few blocks north of my house. While Id visited another location of the south east side of town, killer photos on the Instagram account for Vallarta corporate piqued my interest to pop inside.Once inside, I was greeted with themed decor, sweet treats and fresh flowers. Made to order guacamole stand came next, truly a one-two-punch.Then to the left, a land of seemingly infinite prepared foods. Grab & go rotisserie chickens, hot rice & beans, fresh tamales, and even made-to-order taqueria style options. I was overwhelmed, and hadnt event scratched the surface of the store. The fresh guac and house salsas are killer. My favorite is the house Habanero, but be warned: Im a fan of spicy and this stuff is as hot as I can tolerate before those involuntary hiccups kick in!Im running out of wind here, but suffice to say this store is wonderful. The grounds are clean and well kept, the employees are friendly & kind, and whether you want to prepare a complex meal with fresh meats, seafood and raw veggies, OR have a hungry family that needs to eat prepared food NOW, Vallarta has you covered.Pro tip: my family has been buying uncooked tortillas from the refrigerated section of Walmart for years, which are awesome; however, the house-made cooked tortillas from Vallarta are superior in my opinion.-Aw
Tofu House Korean B.B.Q.
5550 California Ave Ste 106, Bakersfield, CA 93309, United States
I drive by this place every day and have been wanting to try it. We finally went in and had a great experience. I ordered Veggie Fried Rice, my friend got the Veggie Stir Fry with Tofu and a side of white rice, and we split an order of Orange Tofu. The serving size was huge but I swallowed up that whole bowl... My friend veggies looks so good too but I didnt taste them. The orange tofu was excellent and I definitely recommend getting that in addition to you order. It wasnt to battered(I feel like some orange tofu dishes are heavily battered and fried) and the sauce was of course great. We got this little set up of pickled veggies and beans and other things. We honestly didnt know what they were for or how to eat them. But it was food... so we just ate them haha and it was great! I asked our server if she could explain but there was a little bit of a language barrier, but she just said what they were and we got the gist, just eat it. Anyway, I think I found a great new restaurant that I want to go to more often!!!
Great Castle Chinese Restaurant
410 Union Ave, Bakersfield, CA 93307, United States
Wow. So I used to like this place. I always felt like they were wonderfully rude. I figured it was a cultural thing. But wow I see so many reviews of how they demanded a tip. It happened to me. Im the wrong one. I think they figured that out. Anyway the food is OK. I mean the lady that serves stinks like cigarettes always. The waiter literally brought me soda and boxes thats it. Is the water even potable? I stopped in spur of the moment with my wife. I had exact change. So I didnt tip. Mind you Ive been there with my entire family of 7 several times eand we leave a generous tip. Now I thought nothing of it. The waiter comes up and says you dont tip? Wheres the tip? I was like what? Then the stinky cigarette lady, who smokes inside the restaurant by the way against California health code, yells at me across the restaurant in front of other customers its for the service this how he makes his money! So I guess its my responsibility to provide a livable wage to their employees not the employers. How embarrassing for them. Anyway they should be ashamed of themselves. Rude & disrespectful. I CAN NOT trust then with my food. I will never go back again. Also they were openly discussing about selling the restaurant for $3.25M but yet were so demanding of a tip on a simple $30dinner for two ppl. Honestly worst experience Ive ever had at a restaurant. I felt it alot of it was based on my race. We should not support a business that treats customers that way. They forgot that we shouldnt be treated as customers but as guests. Nasty bathrooms. Nasty silverware. Nasty tables. Nasty service. So disappointed.
