Ikes Love & Sandwiches
648 W 5th St, Chico, CA 95928, United States
Honestly used to love this place. The sandwiches are still decent (not as good as they once were), but the incompetence of the employees is out of control. Placed an online order for 3 sandwiches, picked them up and got home to find they were completely wrong. Yes they were busy, but when I tried calling to give a heads up that wed be coming back for the right order, you have to know the extension or a persons name just to be able to talk to a human. Pressed 1 and there was still no answer, but we did get a call back from someone that wasnt actually in the store, but confirmed my order and said they would pass the info along to make the correct order. I drove all the way back downtown, wait about and pick up my correct order. I checked in the car this time before leaving for home to be certain and 2 of the 3 sandwiches were still completely wrong. They fixed one, but not the other 2. For reference we had ordered a Hunter Pence (turkey, bacon, avo with extra cheese the first time there was no bacon or avo) on French, a turkey, ham and salami on French, and a kids turkey on wheat...after the second pickup, the Hunter Pence was correct and we got a ham on wheat and a chicken with barbecue sauce on white. No idea where the disconnect happened but its just a big bummer when you spend $40 and end up with food that wont be eaten. Wont be making a return visit, unfortunately.
Broadway Heights California Cuisine
300 Broadway St, Chico, CA 95928, United States
Over priced. Hi Scott, Im responding to your request. My wife and I entered your establishment and got a glimpse of the slate board listing specials. The greeter met us immediately and seated us in a back corner apart from the main restaurant, a location where there is a big chunk of floor damage. We looked at the menus and the server arrived. We asked what the specials were as we didnt get to fully read them upon our entry. She told us what they were and we both decided on the specials; a tri tip, sandwich and a bruschetta chicken sandwich. The server asked us which type of salad we preferred so we told her. There was never a mention that the salads were separately priced or that the type of salad would cost extra. We both ordered Iced teas. We expected our bill to be around $28. Once we received our bill we were surprised to find that the salads were at an extra cost and that the medium sized, never refilled, teas were $3.25 each. The total bill was $38.50 not including the tip. I can say that the proportion size of the sandwiches were quit acceptable, being good sized. However, I was not impressed with the small amount of tri tip steak that was provided. I estimate maybe around 2 to 2.5 ounces n total. The illusion of the large sandwiches resulted over the size of the bread.
La Comida
954 Mangrove Ave, Chico, CA 95926, United States
People always ask why I like La Comida. And its actually a long answer that very simple. First, I have known the family now for over 20 years. I started working there in 1998 and worked there for a couple years. Growing up in Chico, La Comida was definitely a staple in every familys menu. Back when I was growing up, going out to dinner was more of a treat than an expectation. And I remember going and standing in line and always hoping we would get the tables near the back because I thought those were the coolest. So once I got a job there I was ecstatic. Back then the old man was still alive and my junior was running the floor like a madman and he was amazing at it. And every single person in this town, multi-generational groups of people, all know Jr very well. Im sure you could hear the stories of how many people he has watched grow up and have kids of their own and even kids of Their Own. So today when I went in there during this quarantine to pick up my to-go order with my mask on and saw an empty a part of me was sad. But again, a familiar face. Is I walk in the manager, bill, is still there. La Comida is and always will be family-oriented. Their food is amazing. Especially for the price you pay. They are giving you good food at a great affordable price. These days when you cannot get a meal for one on a food delivery service for less than $20, I went to La Comida and I got a meal for 3 for $21.32 out the door. And in this world today, thats amazing in my book. I love La Comida, I love the entire family that owns it, and if you havent eaten there you should. Always five star restaurant in my
Taco Bell
757 East Ave, Chico, CA 95926, United States
Food is old cold and still hardly eating thing in the chalupa all the chalupa is is a stout to Luther bread. Bathrooms are so absolutely foul that I really did not want to use it. Urine and toilet paper inside the toilet garbage overflowing empty garbage cans. The bathroom is absolutely disgusting. The food is cold. The taco shells are still the phone line has been busy, Cant get ahold of one person and this is not the first time having a problem with this location. This talk about on East avenue and the other talk about on asplanade absolutely suck. I hate going to these locations because the food sucks. The service sucks. The facility sucks nine out of 10. The orders are incorrect. I am now at the point as a former taco bell employee, I absolutely hate going to Taco bell. It is absolutely foul inside and out. I HAD TO TOSS $20 WORTH OF COLD AND STALE FOOD!!!! I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED AND ANGRY. The chalupa was so stale that it caused physical pain to my jaw. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS LOCATION. SAVE YOUR MONEY, TIME, AND BODILY HARM BY CHOOSING SOMEWHERE ELSE TO GO. I truly wish I can give a 0 star rating. They also need to hang up their phone instead of leaving on the busy line. Been trying to call for 20 min.EDIT::NOW I GET WHY THE FOOD IS NASTY. THEY ARE TO BUSY BEING ON THE PHONE FOR AN HOUR. I STARTED CALLING AT 10 PM. IT IS NOW 11:06 AND THE LINE IS STILL BUSY. CONGRATULATIONS EAST AVE TACO BELL, THEY FIGURED OUT HOW TO IGNORE CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS.
Papa Murphys Take N Bake Pizza
1305 Mangrove Ave, Chico, CA 95926, United States
The store was dirty, they employees looked stung out and unhappy and they made my pizza wrong. Then the manager (an Indian lady), tried to convince me otherwise, saying the pizza came w those toppings (she doesnt know what goes on that pizza). Then when I told her I order this same pizza at least once a week and told her the correct toppings she changed her story and told me they were just trying to be nice... (by adding toppings that I didnt ask for and dont already come on it!?) She was lying and didnt want to acknowledge theyd made a mistake and dont know the menu. She was kind of ridiculous the way she kept side stepping/backpeddling instead of being truthful. I ended up taking the pizza anyway and let her know it was an inconvience for me to have to pick out the unwanted toppings and that she should take steps to avoid this. Should be common sense but she definitely did not give me the impression she was aware of this. The cherry on top was that (gluten free) crust was also dried out and stale. Will not go back ever...Id rather drive farther a better store and actually enjoy my food and the service/experience.
Bacio Chico
1903 Park Ave, Chico, CA 95928, United States
Bacio catered our wedding in late October of 2018. We live out of state and I was only able to meet with the Bacio staff once before our wedding for a tasting. It is because of Bacio that I was not a total wreck leading up to the big day. They know exactly how things need to flow and keep everyone on track (guests and vendors). They communicated with our venue on layout and set up and made sure that my vision came to life. Their staff were so attentive, they met my husband and I with champagne when we arrived at the reception and a plate of appetizers that we would have otherwise missed. Every time I sat down, if I didnt have something in my hand, their staff would ask if I needed anything. Speaking of food, WOW, it was amazing. Three months later we are still talking about how good the food was and what a magical day we had, which is in large part due to Bacio. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.
Farm Star Pizza
2359 Esplanade, Chico, CA 95926, United States
When Farm Star is on this is some of the best pizza Ive ever had hands down! Great interesting toppings that pair really well, nice crispy crust with good flavor. Some of my favorite pies to order are nanny goat and pilgrim but really they are all great and you cant go wrong. Oh and the sweet heat salad is not to be missed either. They also often have a small selection of quality craft beers on draft.Areas for improvement:Occasionally, he crust can be soggy in the middle of the pizza. Im not sure if they are trying to pump out pizzas too fast but it would be great if they could bump up their quality control to prevent this. Its definitely more common on veggie heavy pizzas which give up a lot of liquid in the oven.Lastly, over the past couple years they have been pushing hard to schedule music in the restaurant. I feel like this is a stretch and ends up decreasing the quality of the experience. The acoustics are terrible in the restaurant and it ends up being impossible to even walk through the restaurant as it is really not that big of a space. If they had a different layout perhaps it could be better but my advice would be to avoid the nights they have music unless that is really what you are going for.
Live Life Juice Co
220 Broadway St, Chico, CA 95928, United States
This place is amazing! Last week I walked over to Merriam Park to just kind of check out the buildings and get a little exercise and stumbled across Live Life Juice. Now I consider myself a somewhat healthy person because Im battling with type one diabetes which requires me to eat healthy and get exercise for better control of my disease. On top of that I have Celiac as well, my point being it is VERY difficult for me to go out to eat pretty much anywhere. When I discovered that everything was vegan, organic, and gluten free! I could not believe my ears. My absolute favorite juice so far is the oh my greenness. Food fav so far is the Thai Zoodle Bowl, I swear I could drink the peanut sauce! Then the key lime cheesecake. Not only are these items delicious on their own, but I can have them without having to worry. The ingredients are right there on the sticker nothing else, no added sugar, nothing. I will definitely be back. Everyone there was so kind, and clean. I could see multiple people cleaning and wiping down surfaces in the brief moment that I was there. You have my business, and I cant wait to try other items. Thank you so much for being there I am so excited that I found the spot!
Papa Murphys Take N Bake Pizza
2485 Notre Dame Blvd Suite 440, Chico, CA 95928, United States
Pros:- 25% off promo code via text- Respectful, friendly employees- Great tasting food- Easy parkingCons:- Extremely high prices for food that I have to cook at home- Poorly trained employees- Long wait time after placing order via website (30+ minutes)- No salad dressing included with an $8 saladThis was my first time ordering from this Papa Murphys location in Chico. True to form for all of the Papa Murphys in Chico the interior of this pizzeria was 10 degrees hotter than outside, and dirty.I arrived to pick-up the four items that I had ordered and was handed just a pizza. The employee then stared at me after handing me my pizza so I had to ask for my Scratch-made 5-Cheese bread (and then again for the marinara dipping cup), my Smores Bars dessert, and my garden salad. It was like the employee had no concept of fulfilling an online order. There was no salad available so I had to wait while one was made. Prices are extreme for take-n-bake items, especially considering the price of natural gas to cook my items at home. Charging for a small packet of salad dressing(s) for a salad that costs $8 is insulting. My advice is to sign-up for their text messages where you will routinely get 20%, 25%, and 30%-off promo codes which is the only time that Papa Murphys is remotely worth the price. The Chico location on Eaton Road is the best, followed by the Mangrove location, and this location being the worst.
Papa Murphys Take N Bake Pizza
14 W Eaton Rd Suite 120, Chico, CA 95973, United States
2nd Edit: Went on a Sunday morning and picked up a pizza. Started driving away but I stopped to check it because it looked off. The mushrooms were very dark and when I opened the plastic wrap I could smell rotten mushrooms. When I touched one it was very slimy. I took it back inside and the guy working looked upset, kinda angry and grumpy. I just said I dont know if you noticed but these mushrooms are slimy. He looked really embarassed and said hed remake it. The remake was pretty quick and it was ok. I know he remade it and didnt just pick off the rotten mushrooms because he set it aside and it was still there when I picked up the remake from a different employee. Glad for that at least!Edit: Review changed after bad service. Woman who always made esp delicious pizzas, made me a terrible one and was rude. She wouldnt even make eye contact when handing me the poorly made pizza. It felt intentional, did not appreciate the attitude after being a consistant customer who was always polite and kind to all the employees.Clean store, good customer service and fresh ingredients. The pizzas are always good, but the lady who works in the morning makes them especially delicious! I always drive a little further to go to this location because the one closer to me (on mangrove) is a mess, lol!
