They are always friendly & the food is always good. Considering I mostly eat meat & this is the only vegetarian restaurant I eat at hopefully that tells you about the food. It is still one of the few places to eat in Joshua Tree so if its not summer expect a wait & be patient.

Tasty food in a wonderful environment. Keep in mind that they have a rotating menu, so check their website to see what they're currently offering. Also, there is no takeout & avoid coming when you're short on time. I enjoyed David's winter noodle bowl & the coconut curry is a must try! My husband loves the vegetarian burrito and the Vortex Burger. I appreciate that their prices are more reasonable than other establishments. Love walking around the grounds before eating here.

Cliffhanger Guides - Joshua Tree Rock Climbing ...

December 2012 ReviewThis was the second time we have climbed with Seth and it was even more amazing than the first time. We planned a four day trip with Seth and my fiancee, with one day to be spent climbing with Seth and Sabra to work on our individual technique as we climb at very different levels. Seth and Sabra also helped my fiancee conspire to plan his proposal. Seth was extremely patient with me as I still find rock climbing with actual rock a little nerve racking, We have very high hopes for this trip and it did not disappoint at all Seth was able to help us with our technique, teach us about leading climbing, tying notes, placing gear and all the other techniques necessary to be able to lead climb on our own. The personalized attention was the best part of the experience Seth was able to find climbs that I found challenging while still making it also challenging and fun for my fiancee, I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to get into outdoor climbing, work on their outdoor technique or brush up on rock climbing at all they are amazing!-------December 2011 ReviewCliffhanger Guides are Amazing! Rob and I booked a full one day with Seth and had an amazing day. Rob and I had very different climbing skill sets and Seth was able to pick climbs that I was able to do and that were able to challenge Rob which is exactly what we wanted. It was our first time outdoor rock climbing and we cant wait to go back, we have both done some indoor rock climbing, but it is completely different, and the climbing at Joshua Tree was amazing! The day was more than I could have imagined, we were able to friction climb, crack climb, repel, and down climb (most of which I could not do before the day started). Seth was able to plan a great day for us and teach us about lead climbing techniques, friction climbing techniques, crack climbing and general climbing tips which was amazing, he is a great teacher, the only thing I could have asked for was the sun to stay out longer so we could keep climbing. What an amazing day we cant wait to go again!

Really delicious sandwiches! Everything was fresh and high-quality and I especially appreciated the vegetarian and vegan options. An excellent choice if all seated restaurants in the area are too busy to get a table or if youre getting something for the road.

I came in today around 11:30am with my 4 year old daughter and placed an order for a pepperoni pizza. We were offered to sit at the counter so my daughter could watch the chef make our pepperoni pizza. There was only one other table as they opened at 11am. The chef and the person who had seated us both struck up a friendly conversation and quickly asked her if she would like to make her own pizza. I was shocked and amazed at the offer and my daughter was thrilled. They quickly got a small piece of dough out for her and floured the counter we were sitting at. My daughter took over with enthusiasm and the chef guided her in rolling out and stretching the dough into a pizza crust. She was over the moon getting a pizza making lesson. While her crust didn't wind up much different from the ball she started with, she had a blast and I got a great family video. They put her crust onto a peel and asked her if she wanted sauce (enthusiastic ”yes!”) and any toppings (“just cheese”) and they popped her creation into the pizza oven. I will never forget what they did for her. Talking with the chef he said he enjoyed doing this for kids because nobody did it for him when he was growing up and they designed the counter top with this idea in mind. I am sure they cannot do this for everyone, but I think showing up when they are not busy and asking to sit at the counter is your best chance.I chose this place as it seemed to be among the 4 restaurants with the best reputation and the pictures looked pretty good. Talking with the chef, they clearly take pride in their work and put love into the pizza. The sauce made with imported san Marzano tomatoes is tasty, and the oregano they use is quite tasty.I will certainly be back here if we come back to Joshua Tree!

I was lured into this restaurant, thinking it had a charming local vibe. I decided to order a chicken Caesar salad to go. Although it took half an hour to prepare, I assumed it was because they were grilling the chicken fresh in their one-chef kitchen. I didnt worry too much about the wait. After driving for about an hour and a half into Joshua Tree, we decided to stop and have our lunch. To my disgust, when I opened the salad, it was absolutely repulsive. More than half of the lettuce was black and slimy, and there was no trace of chicken whatsoever. What a complete disregard for customers and health violation. The restaurant should be aware that to-go orders are often intended for guests entering the park, where no food is available. So at that point, I had nothing to eat. I promptly emailed the restaurant, including pictures of the unacceptable salad, expecting to receive a refund since we couldnt return to the parks entry point. Unfortunately, I received no response from them.It is sickening to think that such an establishment would take advantage of unsuspecting tourists. I strongly advise avoiding this place at all costs.

Horrific Accusatory Combative Heartless StaffAllison V, Sabrina along with Derek that are the staff at this coffee shop treated me like I was a stealing criminal in front of my children & other consumers. I stepped inside with my two toddlers and two ladies, after four people walked out. As I was standing inside with my two girls, I began to put their sweaters on, it was a chilly day. My husband had just passed me their jackets that he grabbed from our truck. The male employee Derek starts screaming, 4 at a time and the rest need to get outside. My husband left immediately to be respectful of their rules. It was understandable, its a tiny place. I asked Derek if its okay to finish putting my daughters sweaters on. Derek said, yes, after you do that YOU can pay for the merchandise YOU stole. I looked up at him and said, what are you talking about? Derek along with others continued falsely accusing me saying I stole water. I said I have no idea what youre talking about. Im trying to put their sweaters on to get outside & even offered for them to search my bag to prove a point. Allison started screaming again at me to get outside dismissing me, harshly hushing me up, & wouldnt let me get an answer as to why I was being accused. She wouldnt let me ask questions in my defensive & continued demanding me to get out dismissing me. The fridge was never once opened. If they had checked camera footage they would have seen what a damaging accusation was made. I told my daughters to go standby the water which in my daughters eyes was the fridge, because thats where their water was stored. They waited there for 2 seconds as I quickly grabbed their sweaters from my husband at coffee shops door two steps away from their water fridge & began putting their sweaters on them. I have no clue what was going through that employees mind. Any of their minds for that matter. It is bizarre considering my two arms were being used to put my daughters sweaters on their bodies. I dont have a 3rd or 4th arm/hand to open the fridge door & steal a water. Im not an octopus or a magician. It wasnt physically possible for me to do what I was being slandered for. Thats why im flabbergasted, hurt, & really dont know what gave them that impression. Im in shock they started yelling, screaming, & accusing me in front of others customers, & my children. Along with treating me poorly telling me to get outside when I quite literally had done nothing wrong & had stolen nothing. When I called to get the owners name I hung up & was going to wait, but then Sabrina the supervisor calls my phone back & I answer to her yelling & harassing me at the top of her lungs adding in threats. I will press charges. She refused to give me the owner of the coffee shops information. I called the police & made them aware of what transpired. I will be taking further legal action for the defamation mistreatment I endured on Easter Sunday in front of my children. The slander & false accusation I received from this place was extreme when they had no reasonable trustworthy information, or be sufficient, in themselves, to affirm a belief, that a crime was being committed. They were heartless, delusional, unprofessional, & disrespectful people. You do not want to support a place like this. They lack morals and ethics. Most importantly common decency and kindness. The fact that they accused someone of stealing that they had no proof of stealing is beyond me. This place should be shut down if they dont replace the staff. What a sad vile environment to have in such a beautiful town.Im genuinely curious to see the character of the owner. They handled and misjudged the situation to the highest extremity for no reason & were proof-less. I hope they feel remorse for the emotional distress they caused from their foul behavior. Its UNACCEPTABLE!In a world where you can be anything, be kind.

Ill start with the food here is good. I tried other food in the group I came with and it was good. That said, lets discuss the experience. First I left a phone number for my party and was told a 1 hour wait. When they called 30 mins later, they said I didnt answer. I had no missed calls and seemingly had reception but they blamed it on bad reception in the area. Okay, thats fine, but then they seemingly blamed me but said they would get me seated as soon as possible which I appreciated.Once seated, we were ready to submit our total order. It took about 15 mins or more for a waitress to come by to take the order. Once there, I asked what she recommended thinking she might suggest what they were famous for or what many people might order. She stated she liked hell tacos and her BF liked the tuna sandwich. I thought, not exciting but maybe the tuna is something unique so I ordered it. It wasnt. The pancakes are good. The burger is good. The huevos rancheros are good. What the waitress recommends is not. Go with your gut, I should have but I love to see what the local recommend at a restaurant to explore something new and great. Not great.Other than that, it was pretty typical as most restaurants are. Not a lot of space, feels like a diner and the wait staff is a little gruff. I kind of liked that gritty aspect of a diner but disappointed in the lack of effort all around otherwise I would give more than 2 stars. Just to note, 3 stars is good, which should be the minimum. Good food, good service, good ambiance. 1-2 out of 3 is 1-2 stars.

If you are staying in the Yucca Valley or Joshua Tree area and are looking for a place to order catered food, this is your place. I went to Yucca Valley for a wedding, we VRBOd a home for a group of 8. We saw that there were not many choices for restaurants in the area. We were already paying a premium for the house and didnt want to travel around for a place to eat each night. I pre-ordered from Bruces place and it was the best decision. We ordered the Taco Bar for one night & then the BBQ for the next night. Even ordered hot dogs & hamburgers for the picky kids. They loved them. They gave us condiments, plenty of BBQ sauces, lots of homemade chips & salsas. The taco shells were homemade, everyone raved about the food & we even had plenty to take home.Their online ordering was easy. I spoke with their coordinator several times on the phone and their email communication was almost immediate. When I go back to this area, I will be ordering food the same with them.
