Pizza Guys

Was in a hotel in the area and found this place by browsing on Google Maps. Never had it (or even heard of it) so I clicked on their link. They offer online ordering which is always a gamble but I decided to try it anyway. The order was 10 boneless, 6 regular wings, crispy chicken salad w/ranch, and a 2-liter of Diet Pepsi. Clicked finish and it showed an estimated delivery time of 45 minutes.Right around 35 minutes, the dudes at my door. I paid cash and shut the door. I quickly realized he forgot the soda so I caught him before he got on the elevator. He seemed to slightly panic and said it wasnt on the computer but he looked at the receipt in his pocket and it was on there, so he left to go after it...I was starving but had nothing to drink so I stuck the salad in the fridge and waited the 15 or so minutes until he returned before I started eating. Further disappointment ensued...I opened the salad first and realized immediately that this was a garden salad - full of all the nasty healthy stuff I dont like - not the chicken salad I ordered. I was too hungry to call them so I picked all the olives and onions and peppers out and poured the packet of ranch on. I took a bite and was annoyed that the ranch was warm, even after it had just sat in my fridge for 15 minutes. Ugh. I open the 2 liter and yep, you guessed it...warm. Lovely. I ate about half the salad and threw the rest in the garbage. I opened the boneless wings and had to giggle at this point. It was a 10 piece although 2 of them were about the size of a quarter. Haha! This has gotten comical at this point. Then finally I opened the 6 piece and they were fine. Of course not very warm by now but thats understandable. Ok, so weve proven that maybe theyre able to deliver with such quickness because they pay absolutely no attention to the order before delivering it. Or perhaps because theyre a pizza shop, they only know how to get that right? Who knows. As far as the actual taste of everything? The salad was your basic salad and Im sure wouldve been fine if the dressing wasnt so warm and there was chicken on it. The wings all tasted good but were nothing unique. To top it all off, I added Please bring itemized receipt in the comment section. Didnt get it. Thankfully I was able to access it online so work will still cover it.Overall Im obviously gonna tell you to avoid this place but maybe youll have better luck than me. I wont ever choose them again but to each their own.
Papa Murphys Take N Bake Pizza
220 E Yosemite Ave, Merced, CA 95340, United States
Horrible experience. I initially ordered three pizzas. All of them are supposed to be their largest size which they told me was the family size. I said okay and began placing the order. One of the orders was to be gluten free and cheese-less as my neighbor has a severe Dairy and gluten allergy. When I came to pick up the order, I noticed that one of them is a completely different size. When I inquired a why, they told me then that their largest gluten is only a medium. So when I asked why was the order change, they said it wasnt. then when I asked to see the slip for the order, sure enough it was written down as a family size gluten-free, but nobody had the common sense to call When they changed my order without notifying me. Then I find upon arrival home that they still put cheese on it. This is completely unacceptable As you have one job when it comes to making pizzas and you did it wrong. Most of the employees here have only been here for a couple months at most and are horribly trained. I am also a member of the military that offers a 50% discount from corporate. It has been accepted here numerous times but for whatever reason the discount rate tends to change because nobody is familiar with policies and procedures because theyve only been here for a while. I asked about it, the employee stated she had never heard about such a thing for as long as shes been working here and wouldnt honor it anymore. When I asked how long that had been, her reply was two and a half weeks shes been there. I dont expect any discount because of that and I am proud of my service. What bothered me was her attitude and disrespect for a regular customer that was inquiring. Skip here and go to the Bellevue location. This place doesnt deserve your service.
Taco Bell
1440 Martin Luther King Jr Way, Merced, CA 95340, United States
Gonna have to start off by saying to come by during happy hour. Great freezes over here. The perfect balance of blended ice and sweet syrup to hit that summer hot spot like no other. And at only $1? You cant lose. Unless you become addicted and cant stop drinking at every hour of the day, in which case you can lose... Yeah, but its a good deal on happy hour. The boxes are usually a super easy and great combo too, you get drinks, special items, and now you can even opt out the items for different meat choices or choices entirely! Its super easy on their new automated order machine. Just swipe your card when youre done and theyll call your order. It takes just as long as ordering in person, but you dont have to be embarrassed when looking frantically at the menu for 5 minutes even tho youll pick the same thing you usually order. Its a no pressure decision! At least on where to go for lunch/dinner (and or breakfast) You got this.
Taco Bell

The people that work here make it worth it. The food is Taco Bell, the people are always amazing. Ive had conversations ranging from favorite hot sauce to hometown news to the weather to someone getting married. Some of the most pleasant people a Taco Bell had ever been graced with.Edit 6 Years Later (Visited again on 7/9/2023): My first review still stands. This Taco Bell is still staffed with the friendliest people. Ive moved out of town, but I was in town visiting family and stopped by for lunch. I didnt recognize anyone, but the vibe was still there. Everyone was a joy to interact with, they seemed to be having a good time and everything was running smoothly. As far as food goes... I dont know what makes this place so good at what they do compared to other stores, but the food quality is better than any other Taco Bell that Ive been to. They dont under-stuff or make their food messy (most of the time the food looks like it could be right off the menu picture), nothing Ive had there has been stale or not ripe enough, none of my orders have ever been wrong or missing items - in fact, moving away made me realize how much of an outlier this Taco Bell is. If anyone from the store sees this - you guys rock.

A new Indian restaurant with Halal meat is clearly mentioned on the menu. The service was good. It was clean. As a conservative Muslim who cares about healthy foods, and an Indian food lover, Im happy because I didnt see any alcoholic beverages inside the restaurant. So, I was able to dine in and order a soft drink beside my food. They have a very delicious chai (an Indian type of tea with milk). The staff were very nice and welcoming, answering my questions about food. This will be one of the restaurants to which I will go many times in the future.

Exceptional Halal Dining Experience!I recently had the pleasure of dining at an outstanding Indian restaurant in town, and I must say, it was a truly delightful experience! From the moment I walked through the door and noticed the prominently displayed Halal حلال sign, I knew I was in for a treat. The staff at this restaurant exemplified professionalism, warmth, and genuine hospitality. They went above and beyond to ensure that my dining experience was exceptional, guiding me through the menu options and offering helpful suggestions. Their attention to detail and dedication to customer satisfaction were truly commendable.Speaking of the menu, the selection of dishes available was extensive, especially for those seeking halal meats. It was wonderful to see the halal sign right alongside the non-vegetarian options, giving me peace of mind and making it easier to navigate the menu. The range of choices was impressive, and its clear that this restaurant understands and caters to the diverse preferences of its customers. After much contemplation, I decided to order the tandoori chicken and garlic naan. Let me tell you, it was a flavor explosion that transported me back to my first encounter with this cuisine. The tandoori chicken was perfectly cooked, tender, and bursting with authentic Indian spices. It had been nearly a decade since I last savored such a delicious dish, and this restaurant exceeded all expectations. The garlic naan was a delightful accompaniment to the tandoori chicken. The bread was impeccably cooked, with just the right amount of garlic flavor. I couldnt resist savoring every bite, and it left me craving for more.It was evident that this restaurant takes pride in the quality of their ingredients and the meticulous preparation of their dishes. The price, quantity, and overall value for money were truly satisfactory. The bustling atmosphere, filled with contented customers, was a testament to the popularity and consistent delivery of fresh, delectable food.I am beyond thrilled to have discovered this gem of a restaurant, and it has instantly become my go-to destination for a finger-licking culinary experience. I cannot wait to return and explore the myriad of other food options available on their menu.If youre a food enthusiast looking for a remarkable halal dining experience, I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant. Trust me, you wont be disappointed. From their diverse halal options to the welcoming staff and incredible flavors, this establishment truly excels in every aspect.Kudos to the entire team for creating a memorable dining experience. Thank you for bringing the joy of authentic Indian cuisine back into my life!
Yummy Thai
2961 Beachwood Dr, Merced, CA 95348, United States
Quite the stand alone location for its kind. Met up with a couple people here who really enjoy the food here eating it two days in a row. It's a small establishment and it's an old building so I didn't expect much for aesthetics. The menu comes as a single slab of particle board which I thought was neat. I ordered the “angel” wings, fresh milk pork skewers, and steak salad. I never understand places that serve appetizers and entrees at the same time. The “angel” wings aren't the angel wings I'm familiar with (stuffed chicken wings). They were just fried chicken wings drizzled with a sweet chili sauce. It was OK. The fresh milk pork “appetizer” came out as a full on entree on a big platter served with rice, cucumber slices, and dipping sauce. More sweetened meat is all I have to say. The dipping sauce was also sweet. The steak salad was decent but the chili lime dressing was also… you guessed it! Sweet!!! This is why I stay away from Thai restaurants. My party seemed to enjoy their orders. One ordered and recommended the steak salad. The other ordered beef laap with sticky rice. The server was polite. Complimentary water comes with a hint of lemon in taste which I found refreshing. This place IS decent if you enjoy Thai food catered towards westerner palate. It's just not for me. Thai food in general. I would like to try their curries but I'm guessing it's going to be too sweet for my taste buds as well. One of my mates said this place is the only Thai restaurant that doesn't shutdown midday for a few hours. Little does he know Bangkok Thai in downtown also does not anymore. I have my biases when it comes to Thai food. Definitely give this place a try. My party seemed to really enjoy it.
Gateway Pizza-N-Subs
1220 V St, Merced, CA 95341, United States
Just tried the pizza for the 1st time tonight. I have lived in Merced for many years and have tried all the pizza places, but wanted to try something new. I searched pizza on google and saw this place had really good reviews except for 1 review where someone said the owner was really rude.I ordered a small pizza and a few subs which were all incredible. The subs are delicious and the pizza is outstanding. It is really authentic and delicious. I live on the north east side of town off bear creek, but it is definitely worth the drive. I was thinking since the restaurant isnt in the best side of town it might be a little dirty inside when come to find out it is very clean inside. I will be going back soon. I am unsure who would write a review stating the owner is rude when in reality he is a very nice person after talking to him. 5 star!!!!!
Pretty Good Burger

I've driven past for the last 20 years or so and finally stopped in. On my travels I'd pass this store and always say to myself “I need to check this place out” Sunday about 5:30 I did just that. With the love of my life at my side we looked over the sandwich menu..for my love is was the Ribeye sandwich, I choose the Southwest chicken sandwich. The Southwest chicken was tender slices of chicken, pepper jack cheese, chipotle aioli on a soft roll. The Ribeye sandwich was layers of the most tender ribeye I have ever tasted, it was accompanied by mushrooms and bell pepper. The beauty of the Ribeye is its simplicity. The meat was the star and the mushrooms and pepper played a supporting role.My Southwest chicken was delicious however the Ribeye Sandwich was off the Hook..The new owner Andrew came out and chatted with with us for awhile. He's a very nice guy who took time out to explain the different meats and cuts of steaks. We purchased some bacon that looks so beautiful.(We've yet to break into the bacon) but I'll update once we've done so.You get what you pay for at Wolfsens.Good luck on your new venture Andrew ‼️(He's not going to need luck folks)?
El Capitan Hotel

We had two rooms, one for me and my husband and one for my two adult sons. We were visiting family in Merced. We had a room with a king bed and the boys had a room with two queen beds. If we stay there again, we will upgrade to a suite (it was only a few dollars more).Pros: The staff was very friendly and there was valet parking. The lobby area was comfortable to sit in. The rooms had a vintage feel (it was recently remodeled) and was pretty. There was a refrigerator in the room (microwave upon request). A coffee/tea station and a pot to warm water. Both the coffee and tea were in bags you placed in the cub and then poured water in the cup. Our room also had a retro record player with 4 records to choose from, and a vintage style phone. My husband enjoy the 24 hour fitness center. It is within walking distance to restaurants and shopping. The boys Queen room had a nice size bathroom with a vanity.Cons: Our king room was extremely small. No closet, but an area next to the coffee/tea station to hang clothes. No vanity in the bathroom, so no place to put toiletries. The shower had a rain shower head and no water pressure, not a full door on the shower, it was a half door so lots of water on the floor of the bathroom every time you took a shower. The bed was a king, but it was squeaky. The sheets were fine, so I think whatever mattress cover they were using was the culprit, but made for a noisy sleep - every time you rolled over or changed position - lots of noise. No desk in either room, there was a cut out in the dresser with a chair, but once you sat in it, no one could get around you. The walls were thin - we could hear the person in the next room talking on his phone and could understand what he was saying. He banged on our wall when I was talking to my son on the phone (I do not talk loud). They charge you a $500 deposit on your room in case of damage in addition to the room charge (so that was an extra $1,000 we were not expecting). So for 5 nights, we were charged $1,400 for the king and $1600 for the queen. The $500 per room is refunded when the cleaning staff lets them know there were no damages. I totally understand putting a $500 hold on the card, but not charging my card. My mom made the reservation and thought she paid for the room in advance (her Christmas gift for us). So I was surprised when they charged us. She went to the hotel the day after we checked in and had the charge transferred to her card, but was told it would be 4 to 5 days for the charge to be taken off our cards.Overall, we enjoyed the hotel, the staff was amazing, but do think the rooms and bathrooms should be larger for the money.
