Spa eatery with poolside service at the beautiful Terranea Resort. The atmosphere of the Spa Café is quiet, spa-relaxing with indoor seating, including a small bar. The outdoor space is the real focus of the café, a mixed variety of comfy seating types surrounding a beautiful spa pool with great views of the Pacific. A sign indicates the spa pool is only for spa guests, but we understood that the café serves any walk-in visitor. We ate here three time including indoors table, outdoors table, and poolside, both as a spa guest poolside (fantastic spa facilities) and as a walk-in visitor. The service inside and outside is a small team of hospitality staff who seemed overly busy, usually attentive and efficient, sometimes forgetful, and at least once dismissive—service was really hit or miss. The bagel ‘n' lox was a generous pile of salmon on a perfectly toasted bagel but lathered with way too much lox (that quantity of lox should have been served on the side). The guacamole and salsa with chips was very fresh and generous—best dish we ate there. The fruit and cheese plate was generous and very good with lots of tastes, but the cheese was served in way-too-large blocks (difficult for plastic utensils) and there were only two cheeses, not three as advertised. All the fruits were great quality. The spa cocktails were good but light on the pour, and the beer was not chilled well. The use of paper plates/bowls, plastic utensils, and plastic cups were not appropriate for the quality of the spa and for the food/drink expectations of a luxury resort. I'd rate the value as low; the prices are too high for the quality of the presentation and service. Overall, the quality of the service, food, and presentation do not match the quality of this exceptional spa and resort; I'd really love to see the Spa Café elevated and believe it could be with an eye on extending the normal Terranea excellence into this café offering.

Disappointed last 3 trips here.. always out of basic staples..Inventory Control not efficient as their colleagues down the hill. Out of rice altogether, breakfast patties, waffles. ..I was lucky they had 2 smoked trout left.I work in the Valley and the Westside and visiting Pt Vicente whales. It seems this super spacious TJs is well spread out and enjoy browsing and the shopping experience but think will stick to my crowded Westside locations. I do have a place and pop in the Riviera location but has bad parking. but is always well stocked..no issues..Someone may argue oh..it takes awhile for trucks, suppliers to get up hill..C mon, if Amazon vans can get up there, inexcusable..Ive shopped at TJs since the early 80s in La Canada /LA Crescenta area and still patronize them, but please do something about keeping inventory in check.I also had to wait in line more than 10 minutes. Why? Finally, a young lady approached and opened and rang me up ( mustve saw on the cameras). The traditional bell didnt ring. Aah..missed previous great customer service. The young male checker took his time yakking with an older couple bagging their groceries. It was unbelievable and very inconsiderate on both the customers and the cashier. If you want to socialize with customers, please do so outside the store, not on other customer s precious time.Bottom line: open another line - you see us on cameras!Hope my 4th future trip will improve..thank you for reading. The older guy cashier with the thin hair is always nice and genuine. These younger ones could be peppier qand friendlier but whatever.. they seem friendlier down the hill and I frequent a lot of them.
Ko-Ryu Ramen
29505 S Western Ave Suite 103, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275, United States
We tried this restaurant one week after it opened. We tried the garlic pork ramen at the Ko-Ryu in Torrance ealier this year and found the fiod to be superb, so we were excited to try the same dish here in Rancho Palos Verdes on Western Ave.As we entered the restaurant the restaurant was filled to near capacity. The inside decor looked great. The Staff was very friendly and helpful. We ordered the garlic bomb ramen. Previously we ordered the same dish from the Torrance restaurant on Hawthorne Blvd.We are pleased to say the taste and presentation were just the same. This is very good news for Ko-Ryu.The soup was robust with rich flavor. The noodles were properly cooked and the pork?PHENOMENAL! tasty and tender. We also ordered Takoyaki balls which had a piece of octopus inside. The taste was okay, one Takoyaki ball had no octopus in it. Overall, we would rate the Takoyaki ball a 5.Overall experience was very good!!If youre in the mood for ramen, come try this place! We will be back foe more!
Nara Thai Cuisine
28368 S Western Ave, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275, United States
This used to be my absolute favorite restaurant in all of san pedro, back when it was called tanawin thai bistro.since the new owner has bought it the place is a mess. She refuses to hire any wait staff, ostensibly to save money .several times now I have gone in and sat down and waited between 15 and 20 minutes without being acknowledged by either the owner or the teenager working behind the cash register.I understand she is very busy and its hard to run a restaurant. The least you can do is acknowledge your customers when they walk in the door and say I will be right with you.Yesterday we walked in and the girl behind the register was on a phone call looking at her computer for 20 minutes. She never once looked up. She never once acknowledged any of the customers. The owner was in the back plating all the dishes.Basically there is no host or hostess. There are no waiters. There is simply the owner and a young girl behind the register who has no customer service skills. The food is still fabulous. I love this restaurant however I will not go back anymore because I cannot get any service. Will someone, anyone, who reads this review and likes this restaurant please let the owner know shes punching below her weight. The food is still good. She could easily run a good operation if she hired one person to work the floor.Shes basically trying to be the chef, the line cook, the owner, the waiter, the hostess, and the manager all at once. Will someone please call the team from kitchen nightmares.

If you're looking to dine somewhere that genuinely takes pride in the care of their customers for an unforgettable full package dining experience where you feel catered to in the highest regard & leave feeling truly satisfied & in pure bliss with a lasting impression, Mar'sel is THE place for you!Karla has been an absolute standout & gem at Mar'sel. Her attention to detail is off the charts which sets her apart. She represents this restaurant extremely well with being so accommodating, outgoing yet highly professional, & in a league of her own. It's all of the little things & she constantly delivers outstanding service. Her timing is always spot on & she goes the extra mile to ensure it's an enjoyable experience start to finish without missing a beat.No other restaurant has the same level of consistency with their ENTIRE staff being top notch from their kind & professional managers, knowledgeable bartenders, friendly hosts, exceptional team of servers, attentive server assistants & runners, & everyone doing their part, including the helpful kitchen staff & incredible chefs behind the scenes making such beautiful & delectable meals for a memorable dining experience!Although yes, sometimes the portions lean more on the smaller side with a higher price point, the food itself is always very fresh & the chef specials are frequent enough to always make the menu feel new & exciting which also gets swapped out to accommodate what is best seasonally! The view is obviously spectacular & stuns in any weather, you can taste the passion these chefs have in the cuisine prepared alongside a dynamite cocktail menu, the ambience is superb both in their outdoor & indoor section,, but really it's the dedication of the Mar'sel team that makes this restaurant the best of the best in LA.Thank you Alex, Ben, Bryan, Cenobio, Chris, Desiree, Diego, Erica, Felix, Jade, Karla, Kiké, Kimberly, Horacio, Ishtvan, Istvan, Jeffrey, Jesus, Martin, Maxwell, Shannon, Sang, Steven, Terry, Wes, Chef Abby, Chef Antonio, Chef Blais, Chef Fabio, Chef Julia, Chef Justin, Chef Nallely, & the countless equally amazing others of the Mar'sel team for always making Mar'sel such an above & beyond, special, & welcoming dining experience! Every single person is immensely appreciated!!!

Tucked away far into the Palos Verdes peninsula, this shopping center is special to me because of 2 things! One is the Subway sandwich shop here. So you say whats so special about that? Two words: The View!! Order your sandwich, and then dine outside on the patio. And youll be enjoying your $5 footlong, with a multi-million dollar view in front of you! If youre really smart, youll time your visit to coincide with the local sunset time!!!And second, do some shopping at the Trader Joes before heading back home! This one is special because its hardly ever crowded.

Ive been to two of these little cafes and I prefer the one that is in Malaga cove. The difference I found is that the one in Malaga cove gives you the feel that you are in another country its very cute and the courtyard is nice and you just feel like youre at a little cafe in France or something its really really nice. The one in Palos Verdes is also nice but you know youre in Palos Verdes and its very busy and the street is right there so youve got cars going past you and 50 miles an hour and then the light turns red and youre reading their exhaust if youre sitting outside. It is however nice to sit outside because you can see the ocean and on a nice day you can see Catalina which is a treat. The food was equally good at both locations however I think the service was better at the Malaga cove location. Possibly because the one in Palos Verdes was very busy and it seemed like the clientele in the Palos Verdes location were a little more rude and giving the servers and the wait staff a little more attitude and hard time. I felt sorry for the poor cashier She look like she was about ready to drop. I could hear people behind me complaining and just generally being unpleasant so I felt very sorry for her and I actually came in and gave her a tip in addition to leaving a tip for the server.

Fantastic Asian-inspired meal at the beautiful Terranea Resort. Service was extremely friendly, fast, and efficient. The indoor part of the restaurant was smaller than expected with a busy, lively, and casual atmosphere; outdoor seating faced the resort pool and a cove on the Pacific beyond. The menu was packed with interesting choices. The salt and pepper calamari as prepared perfectly, just the right texture with only mild breading and spices. The eggplant and okra stew was a surprisingly complex mix of flavor with curry and coconut foundations. The Peking duck fried rice was as good but rather ordinary. The octopus is crispy on the outside and firm on the inside with a beautiful charred exterior...wonderful! We loved the $3 kimchi side—great value for great food! The miso whisky bread pudding was a spectacular mix of sweet and savory and kind of a surprising desert for this type of restaurant. The half-priced bottle of good sake (happy hour) was an extra bonus, especially paired with a good Japanese beer. Reservations highly suggested. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Burattino Brick Oven Pizza
29701 S Western Ave #103, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275, United States
Waited over an hour and a half, did not even get to try the pizza. This place obviously does not need business, it has a line out the door, but that does not give them the right to treat customers like garbage, waste customers time, or not correct their mistakes.Went to try out this place with my family after seeing all the good reviews, only to be disappointed with horrible service.Placed my dine in order at 6:16pm, ordered 2 pizzas, salad, and drinks, was told it would be about a 30 minute wait. The cashier that took our order passed by and said our pizzas were in the oven and would be out shortly. When we hit about the 45 minute mark, I asked about our order and was told it was coming up.When we hit the 1 hour mark, I asked the same cashier for an update on our order and was annoyingly told wait, that she would bring it out when was ready.1 hour and 20 minutes of waiting, I asked if I could at least get the pepperoni pizza for my 10yr old son that had not eaten. The staff looked confused and said they were working on it.After 1:30 minutes of waiting, giving this place several opportunities to correct the situation they had created, but feeling like they did not care about me or my familys business, I had enough and asked for a refund.I asked the person that appeared to be in charge for the refund and he asked confused if I had received any of my pizzas, even though he heard/saw me asking the cashier several times and was right next to her when I did.Instead of trying to fix any mistakes and make my order right, this place failed several times even though I was calm and patient the entire time. It is very disappointing that a family would be treated like this just because an establishment is very busy and is obviously doing well financially. We were so hungry we drove down a few blocks, found an In & Out Burger and even though they were busier than this place, they took care of us in a timely manner and saved the day!
