My favorite Vietnamese restaurant in SGV
Golden Deli San Gabriel
815 W Las Tunas Dr, San Gabriel, CA 91776, United States
Update:Reopened a week ago. My favorite Vietnamese restaurant revamped the interior and added plexiglass divider between tables. The interior looked fresh and clean. Nice dining environment. The food is just as good as before. They are not as busy though. Maybe many people still dont know that they are open yet.I ordered the broken rice with BBQ pork, shrimp paste and egg roll. Although the rice was not broken rice, but the whole dish was good. I loved the egg roll as Golden Deli still uses rice paper for egg roll skin while most other restaurants use regular flour wraps. Using rice paper is the authentic way for making Vietnamese egg roll. The service seemed to be much better than before the pandemic. At least the people were dressed in uniform now.I also noticed parking spaces were easy found now. If you like Vietnamese food, should definitely go dine in and support the restaurant.End of update. My go to restaurant for pho. We probably go there at least once a week. The restaurant is clean and the service is great. They have all the regulator Vietnamese dishes you would find at the original golden deli restaurant in San Gabriel. My favorite dish is ribeye steak pho with tendon. The soup is very authentically Vietnamese. This place is packed during lunch and dinner. Put your name in yelp waiting list when first come into the restaurant. Parking is either in front of the restaurant or in the back. Also try their spring egg roll, one of the best in LA.
Saigon Eden
980 E Las Tunas Dr # C, San Gabriel, CA 91776, United States
One of my favorite Vietnamese restaurants in SGV. Although the inside decoration is quite dated, the foods here are excellent and authentic. Service is very good too.On Las Tunas and San Gabriel’s Blvd, Saigon Eden is conveniently located across from one of the established shopping and eating centers in San Gabriel. I have been coming here for years but haven’t had a chance to write a review. With an extensive menu, you can practically find any types of your favorite Vietnamese food here. I come mainly for their pho ( beef broth noodle) and Banh Cuan( Vietnamese rice roll with pork). The pho here is excellent filled with extremely tasty beef broth. The broth produces a beefy - hours-long bone boiling - taste caressed by the seductive scent of star anise, which is the beauty of this dish. The levels of taste- fresh herbs, satisfying beef, hot broth, spicy shots of Jalapeno and siracha, sweet-salty-smokey hoisin, and al dente noodles made their pho a perfectly done dish.I tried their Pho Kobe today with the same broth. The Kobe beef was not as tender as I had expected. The noodle and the broth were still excellent.I didn’t ordered their Banh Cuon today as I wanted to try their Banh Xeo ( sizzling pancake). Over all, this dish was not too bad. The skin on the Banh Xeo was a bit thick but the portion was very big. I had to pack half of it to go.This is definitely a place to get your favorite Vietnamese food. Saigon Eden has them all.
Pho Filet 2
2643 San Gabriel Blvd, Rosemead, CA 91770, United States
Good Vietnamese restaurant. The price is reasonable compared to other pho restaurants. They are one of the few Vietnamese restaurants that offer com phan (family meal plan) for 2, 4, and 6 people. The family meal for 4 includes catfish & veggie sour soup, braised catfish in a clay pot, salt & pepper shrimp, cabbage & shrimp salad, and fried tilapia fish. There is a small parking in the rear. Service is friendly.
Pho Ngoon
741 E Valley Blvd, San Gabriel, CA 91776, United States
Rt Ngon!Still dont get the play on words with the extra o in Ngon (meaning delicious in Vietnamese), but oh well.Horrible location but expectedThis isnt a surpise in the San Gabriel valley but offer a small lot and be sure to know that everyone will park illegally. Ive been in this parking lot a lot now that Boston Lobster has opened next door so Ive seen the horrible parking situation. People double parking behind other cars and illegally parking in places that arent for parking. Typical Asian situation. Park on the street and avoid it allPho is the StarI like that the menu is condensed down to just a handful of pho selections but I am saddened that they dont have my go-to bowl Pho Tai Nam. Boo. Nonetheless the Pho Dac Biet (meaning Special) is a nice solid bowl of Pho. The broth is pretty good but I would say the meat is a little too fatty. Also had the Bun Thang. Its rare that a restaurant has this so I had to get it! Pretty darn good also! Its a good spot to get in and out of quickly for a good bowl of Pho with a decent Cafe sua Da also.If you know of a better pho place around please let me know! Been looking!

Com Tam Kieu Restaurant
633 S San Gabriel Blvd #112, San Gabriel, CA 91776, United States
First time seeing red rice at a Vietnamese restaurant and so glad we tried it. The rice itself was so so so flavorful (not fried like the gentleman specified, the rice is cooked with seasoning instead). I've been looking for a Vietnamese restaurant to get good noodle patty plates, and I finally found it. I love being served with a pile of fresh herbs and the noodle patties were cooked well (not too soft or soggy) and the charbroiled chicken and charbroiled pork were also so good. The service was good (friendly and attentive when needed, and the gentleman kindly made suggestions) and the bathroom was pretty clean. The fresh coconut was also very refreshing. We're highly satisfied with their food options (felt like legit Vietnamese food for sure!!) and kind service and cleanliness. Will go back to try their noodle with pork bones!*$30 minimum for credit card transactions.
Pho Ga District
#, 3119 N San Gabriel Blvd J, Rosemead, CA 91770, United States
This place is a cute little gem in strip mall on San Gabriel Blvd. The menu is fairly simple with a few appetizer, rice plates, and noodles in each category. We shared the egg rolls and bahn cuon which were both very good. The rice paper wrapper on the bahn cuon were soft and fresh. The ground meat and mushroom inside also tasted delicious. The white meat or bologna on the side was just okay. The egg rolls were fried perfectly and served with fresh lettuce and cilantro.I ordered the duck and bamboo pho, which I havent seen in other Vietnamese restaurants. The soup was a simple chicken broth, however the canned bamboos flavor was very overpowering. It is definitely an acquired taste.Overall I would come back for the egg rolls and bahn cuon but probably stick to the pho ga.
Sunrise Noodle House
3219 San Gabriel Blvd, Rosemead, CA 91770, United States
This is a Shantou family run restaurant. They speak English, Vietnamese, Cantonese, and some Mandarin.Their Hainan Chicken Rice (the rice is cooked with chicken broth, come with choice of house made dipping sauce) and the Spicy Vietnamese Beef Noodle Soup are the signature dishes on the menu along with some Cantonese and Vietnamese favorites: shrimp wonton in egg-noodle soup, deep-fried spring egg rolls, pan-fried daikon / radish cake, and fried rice dishes. The fish balls are fresh but are not chewy enough. They serve complimentary dessert. The taro soup with tapioca and coconut cream is tasty. The parking is at rear, suffice for this 48- seat capacity restaurant.

Friday 5/31/24 Dinner at King Com Tam in San Gabriel. Craving for meats in broken rice. Ordered the grilled chicken, nem, shredded pork skins, and steam eggs. It’s delicious and hit the spot.David YoungRestaurant EnthusiastFriday 12/15/23 Dinner at King Com Tam in San Gabriel with my friend-colleague Erwin. Introducing him to eating Vietnamese green leaf wraps with 10+ different meats. Is so savory, light, and refreshing. It so delicious without the bloating from eating too of meats and carbohydrates and even have rooms to have a large durian smoothie at Lee’s sandwich.I recommend trying this restaurant for their green leaf wraps.—————This is one of my favorite restaurants for Vietnamese broken rice with grilled meats. The foods are so delicious and reasonably priced. There are many dishes on the menu where I can come numerous times and still haven’t try everything on the menu. The service staffs work fast and are limited in English. The restaurant has remodeled a few years ago and now has a more modern decors and good air conditioning system. I still return to satisfied my cravings. I highly recommend this restaurant.David YoungRestaurant Enthusiast
