Hinata Japanese Steakhouse, Sushi & Bar

Go to place after a wine tasting trip with friends who live in Fairfield. We shared orders of Gyōza and Fried Tofu, I had the deluxe sashimi and sushi boat, my friends shared a super spider roll and a travis air force base roll. Sapporo for me and Sake for them.My meal came with some fresh Wasabi, something Ive never had before, and that I will ask for at japanese restaurants from now on. It was delicious, with the kick you expect from Wasabi, but different as well.

This place was very rude to my disabled grandmother over the phone. My grandmother called in to make an order for pick up. She asked what rolls had no cream cheese or dairy (shes lactose intolerant). They woman on the phone acted confused and then said You come in and order in a very dismissive tone. My grandma informed her that shes disabled and wanted to order for pick up since she cant drive or walk in herself. The woman on the phone then said no we have nothing with no dairy This is a LIE. their menu is online. We asked again and she said no again very rude and hung the phone up in our face.My grandma is to old and sick to be rude. So this was very hurtful and saddening to her. All she wanted was some darn sushi. If you want to support a place thats rude to old sick grandmas go ahead. If you want to visit a place where the resurant workers are to lazy to take an order over the phone go ahead. As for me Ill go to one of the other many sushi restraunts in fairfield. Because if its that hard for them to take an order on the phone only God knows what else they find hard in food prep.
Teriyaki House

Got off work and had a craving for Asian food. I found this place by searching up local Asian restaurants. I never noticed this place before so I had to try it out. Its a basic hole in the wall restaurant, nothing flashy about it. Its COVID times at the time of this writing so I did appreciate the large hanging plastic cover dividing the kitchen area from the rest of the restaurant. Also, it was takeout only. The staff were nice and took my orders quickly. I was also very happy to see them cooking my meal upon ordering so I knew it would be hot and fresh.I ordered fried gyoza and shrimp tempura as appetizers and a deluxe combination plate with teriyaki beef, shrimp, and spicy chicken. A buddy of mine also ordered a plate of pork teriyaki. The gyoza and shrimp tempura were both very crispy. The tempura was good but I felt that the gyoza had much better flavor, especially when dipped in the accompanying sauce. It was sticky and sweet and just a hint of spice. My combo plate was good for the most part. The shrimp were on the smaller side and depended on the sweet and sticky teriyaki sauce for most of its flavor. The teriyaki beef tasted good but was a bit dry. The spicy chicken was really good. The crispy breading locked in the juiciness of the meat and the spicy sauce was savory and flavorful, not too spicy. My buddy really enjoyed the pork teriyaki and after tasting it, I felt it was the most flavorful of all the dishes.I had a craving for Asian food and I feel like this restaurant really satisfied that craving. It wasnt the most amazing Asian food Ive ever had but its filling and delicious. They cook the food upon ordering so its going to be fresh and their teriyaki sauce is really flavorful. I would come back again to satisfy cravings.

I ordered 3 rolls 2 California rolls and a Crunch monkey. The crab in the California rolls were BAD/ tasted old and fishy. I called to speak to the manager who wasn't there, left a message… never got a call back. I called back a week later, because I was going to order again, but first I wanted my issue addressed and with the manager, who actually answered the phone. The manager said my message was probably thrown away, that's why she never called me back. Then the manager started explaining how they had been buying low quality crab meat and just switched to crab that's better quality; however they don't make their crab everyday! They make it every other day. I said well I expect to have fresh crab or fish in my sushi, eating old crab is disgusting. The manager was rude and said she wasn't going to help me or do anything, she wasn't going to make fresh crab just for me… and she said don't order or come back ever again. Thank you manager I will never come back to eat the worst sushi ever again. No, this is definitely not worth my money.

Great take out Sushi, they are really good about special requests. Ive tried all the sushi in the area and this is my go to for take out. I usually order ahead on the phone and they text you when its ready. They have a huge menu with several vegetarian friendly options and everything I have had from there was very fresh and tasty. They are usually pretty busy whenever I go but pretty quick for the volume they do, they tend to quote a longer wait time but it ends up done early. The people are super nice and never mess up my order. my wife (who is not a vegetarian and eats the stuff with fish). Also loves their food. They have non sushi options if youre trying to get your sushi fix with someone who doesnt do sushi or isnt in the mood.Im a vegetarian and love vegetable tempura cut rolls, its not on the menu but once I explain what I want they are happy to make it and dont seem put out about it the way many places do. Vegetable tempura cut rolls are a great way to give vegetarians more options using stuff all sushi places already have but for some reason most sushi places treat you like an alien asking for something crazy, you make vegetable tempura, cut it up and throw it in a roll, its the veggie version of a crunch roll, most places give at least a bit of attitude if they are even willing to make it, but not these guys. They may seem a little confused but once they know what you want they happily do it, and do it well. I think its $2 extra over a veggie roll, which seems very fair.I wish more sushi places were veggie friendly, there is a great vegan sushi place in San Francisco and they have a line down the block and are booked from opening till closing, they have a full menu of special vegan sushi rolls and their food is super next level. That may be a little too much to expect around here but I would love a short vegetarian menu with a few special rolls but short of that, a place that will take special requests and not treat you crazy for wanting something veggie with a little crunch is very nice to have.

Suisun Valley Wine Co-Op
4495 Suisun Valley Rd, Fairfield, CA 94534, United States
I took my visiting friend from Italy to the Suisun Valley Co-op this past Saturday. It was my first time there, although I had visited Suisun and Wooden Valley wineries in the past and found I liked them. It was a very convivial atmosphere from the first few minutes. Other tasters were having a good time and raving about the wines. We ended up drinking over 10 different wines from local wineries and were just delighted with most of them. Pat and Doug, generously poured and answered all our many questions. Their two little dogs were playing with the toddler on the floor and everyone was having a great time. I think we stayed for two hours and the time just flew by before bought five bottles of wine.( Dont miss the Sunset Barbera, it is fantastic) A local resident in the tasting room offered a lift to the nearby Mankas Corner Steak House which we accepted rather than drive over the limit. After a delicious meal at Mankas, we Ubered back to our car and had a good ride home where we agreed that it was our best tasting room experience ever!
Pikul Thai Bistro
1305 Gateway Blvd e5, Fairfield, CA 94533, United States
This place is pretty good. It came as a Google suggestion and I decided to give it a try. The wife loves thai food and usually gets green curry but opted for the pumpkin curry. I love drunken noodles and decided to get that. My 2 year old will generally eat any type of fried rice so I decided to go big and get the crab fried rice because I was curious and it is a signature dish. I got all this to go so I apologize for the pictures because I was lazy and didnt want to stage the dishes.I just had a quick taste of the pumpkin curry but it was flavorful and creamy like any other curry. Decent spice but nothing crazy. I cant really judge the dish definitively because I didnt do much more than a taste. The wife said it was good and would get it again. However, for the price, she would go to out usual thai spot.I had the drunken noodles and it did not disappoint. Spicier than I am used to but nothing crazy. The fresh chili was welcoming and the noodles were delicious. There was nothing special about the chicken and it didnt taste as if it was marinated in anything. The side salad that it came with had a small container of creamy dressing. Similar to the mayo based dressings you may find in some Japanese restaurants. I wasnt a fan of the salad or the dressing and found it kind of odd in my to go box. Also, the heat of the dish wilted some of the salad. Other than that, there are no complaints about the quality of the food. The crab fried rice was delicious but I would have appreciated larger chunks of crab. It wasnt lingering with a fishy taste and the other ingredients had a chance to shine through. The carrots were unexpected but the kid LOVES them so it was a plus. A little expensive but worth to try at least once.
