Superhot Hot Pot & Korean BBQ
210 Hope St, Mountain View, CA 94041, United States
Great meat. I recommend the American Wagyu. For what you pay for, it is really worth the money. But the best part was the desserts. Especially these buns with condensed milk as well as the Pumpkin Mochi. Also the service was great. Our Server Osvaldo always came near our table which was very convenient for when we wanted new things or had a question on how to eat something. Not to mention he was super polite. In conclusion this is the first and probably always will be best Korean Restaurant I have been to.
Gen Korean BBQ House
2540 W El Camino Real, Mountain View, CA 94040, United States
I recently dined at Gen Korean BBQ in Mountain View, and it was by far the worst experience Ive ever had at any Korean BBQ restaurant. Here’s a detailed account of my visit:First, the service was absolutely abysmal. My drinks were never refilled despite the empty glass sitting at the edge of the table, which should have implied it needed a refill. The server, Long Phong Jeff, seemed overwhelmed and lost. He made three separate trips to our table, each time finding multiple items that weren’t ours. The food runner was consistently delivering food to the wrong tables, adding to the chaos. As a Muslim family, we dont eat pork, yet they repeatedly brought pork to our table. This was extremely frustrating and disrespectful, especially after we made it clear from the beginning. The server told us they had run out of most beef items, leaving us with limited options, mainly pork and tasteless chicken. We were told we could only order one serving of beef bulgogi at a time, and even that ran out before we could order more. The real disappointment came when we found out from the server that they had no beef left except for beef belly. We were offered to upgrade to a premium menu, which included more beef items, for an additional $20 per person. Despite our terrible experience, they refused to offer any sort of compensation or discount for the upgrade, even though we were seated without being informed that the majority of the beef items were unavailable.Additionally, the dining area was extremely smoky, which was very concerning as we had our 1-year-old daughter with us. It was the first time we had seen it that smoky inside the restaurant. Im sure theres a way to make it less smoky, but it seems the current management does not know how to handle this issue.Devin, the manager, claimed he had been in the position for less than two months and clearly had no control over the restaurant operations. His inability to manage the food supply, train the staff properly, and handle customer complaints was evident. He tried to pass off the responsibility to the general manager, which was highly unprofessional and disappointing. To top it all off, Long Phong Jeff forgot to bring us a refill for our Dr. Pepper and seemed confused throughout our meal, making multiple mistakes. Despite his efforts, the service fell drastically short of acceptable standards. For anyone considering dining at this Gen Korean BBQ location, be warned that the management is inexperienced, the service is disorganized, and you may end up with limited food options despite paying a premium price. Devin, if youre reading this, I hope you take these comments seriously and make necessary improvements.Order #2083159 - Station #0T3 Table 20Service and performance rating: 2/10 (only because the server tried, despite failing).Side Note to the General Manager:Devin mentioned that he had direct contact with you during our entire conversation and that you were informing him live on how to handle the situation. This was a direct lie to my face. I know you would never do that. The way Devin handled the situation was highly unprofessional, and I trust that you would have managed it differently and made things right immediately. I would appreciate a response from the owner or general manager to this review, including a contact number for a better debrief.Date of Incident: May 18, 2024

Bonchon Mountain view

Who thought Korean and fried chicken was a good idea? If orange chicken still has some Chinese as in American Chinese, I cannot find a shred of Korean in Korean fried chicken. But style or authenticity is not at question. It is the taste that breaks the deal.Looking at the display sheet on the window and the bar-set interior, I already knew that this was a Korean fusion kind of deal, a gen-Y hangout place, i.e., not a family eatery. (With which region this is fusing is unclear.) But my daughter is presently infatuated with everything Korean. It was a bit crowded dinner time, so we settled at the bar. I ordered a salmon avocado ball mainly based on ingredient list. It is a sheet of salmon wrapped over some other ingredients (nothing particularly Korean). The dish looks more baked than fried. The sauce is cheesy and sweet; there is certainly added sugar in the internal materials, too. Overall, the only good thing about the dish is presentation. My daughters fate was worse. She thought her tteokbokki was a traditional dish, as delightfully described on the menu. But the whole thing was so sugary that she didnt finish half of it. Needless to say, this has ruined her hope of getting anything Korean out of this place. (And engrained a fear of Asian fusion for some foreseeable future.)If you want a downtown venue to hang out, drink some rice wine, and not having a meaningful conversation, the place is very clean, seating is more relaxed than in many Asian eateries. But if you want to have a meaningful meal that does not numb your taste buds with sweetness, or want to have any kind of Asian experience - or simply want a good meal, Bonchon is not a bon place.Oh, what is that about not having meaningful conversation? The absolutely absorptionless interior is so loud that you literally have to shout to the waiting staff who leans to within two feet (60 cm) of your mouth.

Meat OK. Appetizer and tofu soup sub par, will not go again. Was not served barley tea, which I thought as default for Korean restaurant.

Kind of a cross between fast food and a regular sit down restaurant. Good Japanese/Korean food.
Trader Joes

Really helpful staff and great prices, but limited product choices in some areas!Ive called in a couple times to check on pricing and availability of some products since they dont list stuff online, and every time Ive called, the associates would personally go find the products I was asking about and get back to me. I really value the time they take to do this, since I like to make informed choices about where to buy my groceries before heading over to the stores.TJs is usually the cheapest out there, and I know Im getting great quality products at such low prices. Especially love their organic nuts collection, which is cheaper than buying bulk at Whole Foods! One place WF does work out cheaper though is specialty flour section (like almond and coconut flour). They also use really cute packaging for their products, another motivational factor to purchase here, haha.Only downside I would say is that they dont always have as much variety. For example, I wanted a single carrot this past weekend, but they only had the bagged ones which had too many for someone who just cooks single-serve meals for just themselves. They also sometimes run out of fresh produce at the end of a day, but Ive only had that happen on me once out of the more than 20 times Ive been here since moving to the area recently.
Chicken Gs
1414 W El Camino Real, Mountain View, CA 94040, United States
I am a fried chicken freak. I must try it wherever I go. I was in Mtn View on Friday, and I had to stop. I only like bone in chicken, and they do sell that-- although it was difficult to communicate this to the person at the counter. So, I didnt want any side dishes, I just wanted 2 pieces of fried chicken. This took a while to get this across, but I was finally able to order a 2 piece order of chicken for $9.49 (ouch). I waited about 15 minutes and the chicken came out super hot and fresh. The breading and spices are amazing. It has a unique flavor, but not in a bad way.Well, I was so excited that I wanted to share this chicken with my Wife, so the next day I returned with my Wife and I attempted to order 8 pieces of chicken without the sides and this counter person either did not understand English or was just a jerk? He just kept pointing at the menu and would not listen to me. I explained to him that I bought chicken without sides the day before. There were two other employees there that could have assisted, but they just stood there staring at me. I finally gave up and ordered the combo dinner. It was $44!! The chicken is great but most of the staff are clueless. I spoke to my daughter about it and she said that the staff were really rude to she and her girlfriends when they visited there. Due to the crazy high prices and odd staff, I will not return.
Nijiya Market Mountain View Store
143 E El Camino Real, Mountain View, CA 94040, United States
Called at 9 am to see when their restaurant opened. Male employee on the phone said the restaurant opened at 8:30 am. I drove and spent precious gasoline looking for hot food at their restaurant, only to be greeted by a sign that said the restaurant was open at 11 am. I asked the attendant at the restaurant cash register and she said the restaurant was open at 11 am. The cashier said the one who takes the phone calls is the manager. I called again to see why the manager of all people would lie to me about when their restaurant opens. The female manager who received the call not only defended the previous misinformation from their employee, they also did so with a downright shoddy excuse. She said that Nijiya calls the refrigerated ready made bento section the restaurant and the actual restaurant the hot deli. Thats a hot excuse right there. Their own restaurant cashier referred to the place as a restaurant. Who in their right minds would say call and aisle of refrigerated onigiri a restaurant? The blatant lie and general unapologetic attitude of the managers working at Nijiya, who apparently lie to customers for fun, has destroyed my trust for this business. Unfortunately I cannot, in good conscience, buy goods at this place again.
