Gen Korean BBQ House
2721 Seaglass Way #3260, Oxnard, CA 93036, United States
This place really put me in the tough spot to write this review. My husband and I came from LA county and we might be used to with real Korean bbq in Korea town,That's why this place quite a disappointed.First of all the ban chan or side dishes,That was the first things suppose to be on the table with varieties of yummy veggies, pickles, salad, kimchi etc. doesn't matter you'll eat all of them or not because that's How Original Korean people do when they eat Korean bbq but with this place you'll have to order those side dishes with your server,They'll not bring it unless you ask for,Which I have never experience this in any Korean bbq place I've been to.I understand they might try to save cost by not wasting those left over side dishes but it's just not How Korean bbq place suppose to be.Meat quality was not great but wasn't bad either,I would give them a OK quality. The most disappointed item I would have to give it to “Thin Slice Beef Brisket” Though.Normally when you put this kind of brisket on the grilled it would almost melted and when you eat the texture should be soft and melted into your mouth but the brisket here was tough and chewy,Which this was my first time I had a slice brisket that was this hard.Another things I have to talk about was the tofu stew soup. They serve in a small bowl with a plastics spoon just like what you get from a cheap buffet.I have never seen any Korean bbq place does that! It will usually serve in a hot stone bowl,So it will remain hot for a while but the soup taste wasn't bad,It's was another a OK again. The best things on this visit was staffs,They are all so great! Make sure we got what we want,Grilled had changed as much as we want,Every time someone walked by they're always make sure we're doing ok,Love it! So the stars was basically for the service.Overall in my personal opinion,This place wasn't a great or awesome Korean bbq but it's wasn't bad either,It was OK.Will we come back for a second time when we're in the area? We'll have to think hard about it.

This place brought memories of my trips to South Korea. The way they make their spicy pork had me reminiscing about the wonderful times we had with the mother-like Korean lady that would treat us like her own children. Best Korean Restaurant in Oxnard!

Decided to stop here while in the area. First off, the parking spaces are very limited for this plaza, which has quite a few businesses on site. We walked in and got greeted and seated right away. The lady took our order, and she was very friendly and patient with our kids deciding what they wanted to eat. Now the food, I ordered the Chilaquiles divorciados with chorizo and over easy eggs. Parts of the chorizo were burnt completely, and I got scrambled eggs instead of over easy. My wife ordered their salmon Benedict, and they were served with a mountain of hollandaise sauce, and it was too chunky. My oldest ordered a side of fries. Well, it seems like they hand-picked each fry, very small amount for the price of a sidenif fries, and they sprinkled way too much salt on them. My youngest ordered an apple juice, which he never received. Overall, the food had an okay flavor, but unfortunately, we wont be returning here.
Kanaloa Seafood

I had the fish and chips and it was ok, white flaky fish that wasnt tough or fishy tasting but has a strange sweet kind of taste. So I asked what kind of fish it was I was told it was SWAI.Now I know why it tasted weird, Swai is a bottom dwelling trash feeder and Its one of the cheapest white flaky fishes you can find.I dont understand why a local fresh fish restaurant would be selling this farm raised junk when theres plenty of fresh local fish that people would love to eat. The SWAI left a Nasty taste that wouldnt go away! And apparently there is no other choice for their fish and chips. My other problem was the smell of the place, both inside and out!And I know that kind of comes with the territory but maybe theres something that can be done like better ventilation on the inside. Just saying. If Youre looking for some decent fish and chips you may want to just go to Andreas, they have three or four different kinds of local fresh fish and chips on the menu and theyre all good.
Asahi Market
660 S Oxnard Blvd, Oxnard, CA 93030, United States
This store has recently changed ownership- The owner also has Santa Cruz Market in Ventura Midtown. So hes experienced and has updated the store mentioned in other reviews. Some Lebanese/ Middle Eastern items are sold in the back corner (which used to see housewares, home goods)One thing I want to comment is on the items available, newer items etc. They have really increased the amounts of sauces, condiments which are necessary for specific Asian dishes. This store is one of the few to have the Huong Foy (Green Rooster) Sriracha sauce. Stock up while still available.Edited update:Instant noodles-- They are boosting up on Buldak Fire noodles. You can always get individuals of these at 99 store to try flavors. They have Chapaghetti Jajangmyeon (black bean noodles). I did see Neoguri ramen Nongshim brand. and now I saw a variety of Sapporo Ichiban.I wish they would bring Bibigo for frozen dumpling and other items. They are the most popular Korean brand- also sold in Costco, Target and Winco.Instant noodles-- seem to be less brands variety-
Heritage Square

Heritage Square Phoenix is one of those unique city areas that keeps its history alive. It is amazing how much is being done by the Heritage Square Foundation to preserve the historic buildings and get the tourists and general public acquainted with the history of Phoenix.Upon entrance, I found the Heritage Square Visitor Center (a former Carriage House) to be of great help to visitors - besides educated and friendly working staff who welcome you in, they offer an excellent info display, free handouts, visitors guides and maps of Heritage Square Phoenix, - all this is so informative and helpful when you walk around the area.Of course, on the premises of Heritage Square theres a very famous, historic Rosson House Museum that offers tours, the Teeter Carriage House (now it is one of the popular Royal Coffee Bars in the area), another old, but modernised structure is Baird Machine Shop (today it is a Pizzeria Bianco), and a gorgeous, open-air Lath House Pavilion that was completed in 1980. Nearby, theres a prominent Arizona Science Center that runs many programs in educating children.

Pricey, but beef bugogi was the best since my fave Korean restaurant closed in LA. No grizzled or fat, just tender beef.Ramen was outstanding as well.
