Bonchon Pleasanton
2725 Stoneridge Dr Suite 109, Pleasanton, CA 94588, United States
First time visiting Bonchon....here are my impressions:1. service is good...attentive and friendly.2. food:a)edamame for appetizer was a rather small portion, enough for two people, but not much there. What shocked me was they charge $6.95 for what amounts to be a $0.50 serving. Other than salt, was rather bland, so how can they justify that price?b)Japchae-very delicious...I enjoyed this dish. Having said that, the portion was rather small....not that much meat, yet, the price was $15.95. Not a great value at all in my opinion.c)Bull Dak: this was freaking spicy! I mean, really, really spicy! But the flavors and textures were good, and the portion size was generous. But be prepared....this one had my lips on fire for an hour after the meal!3. the rest.....a)the plastic cups used for beverages looked like they were bought at a yard sale...extremely crazed (plastic had fine cracks all throughout). b)the acoustics in the restaurant were terrible. Everyones voices seemed like they were yelling, and the waitress actually turned UP the volume on the sound system, making the soundscape sound terrible between very loud music and peoples voices echoing all over the placec) we asked for a takeout container as we had leftovers...they added $0.30 to our bill for the takeout container!!!!! I had never heard of this in my entire life being charged for a takeout container!!!So, in conclusion, I dont think I will be returning. I think the food is very overpriced, and I did not enjoy the environment....they really should look at adding sound absorbing materials to address this. And stop charging customers for takeout containers...that is insulting.

Curry Leaves Bistro
6003 W Las Positas Blvd, Pleasanton, CA 94588, United States
A Penang style Malaysian restaurant. They provide standard menu and daily specials. I have only been here once so I cannot give complete judgement. I did order three items hok kein mee, mee goreng and nasi lemak with chicken randang. The mee goreng was the best dish out of all them .the hok kein mee was ok. I would give it 3/5. The mee goreng 3.5/5. The chicken randang with the rice and sambal would give a 3.5/5. I feel the chicken randang the gravy could have been reduced more give it a thicker base. Flavor wise it was on the milder side when it comes to aromatics. Put more dishes and aromatics in the base. The owners are very sweet and kind. I did feel like I was in a street side restaurant in Malaysia when I walked in. I think this place needs to be a bit more bold in terms of flavor. The recipes are authentic but they can amplify the same flavors more with a bit more aromatics and herbs. For example the mee goreng use garlic chives instead of spring onions. Garlic chives are more traditional. Satay was not on the menu. I think that should be standard in any Malaysian restaurant as a starter. I think as a weekly special introduce some malaysian fish beef curry or ikkan bakar or crab pepper. I know the owners are Malaysian and they can definitely be a bit more adventurous and bring their soul into their food and set a unique brand for themselves. There was nothing on the menu that stood out to me from other Malaysian restaurants in the bay area. That is why I ask you to use local California sea food and introduce Malaysian style sea food dishes. This place has potential to do much better and I think they can with a bit of risk.

Dragon City
824 Main St, Pleasanton, CA 94566, United States
Although the staff was really nice, the food just wasnt up to the level of a 3 star review, so we sadly are giving it 2 stars. Dont know how its averaging 4 stars with this quality of food, but I guess its the typical most residents out here dont really know what good Chinese food is situation.Did an online order and delivery option. Long delay from submitting the order to a confirmation email. So long that I emailed the help email address on the website about it. No delivery fee for orders over $25, which is a huge plus. The delivery guy came fast and was very nice. I tipped him the max 20% the website would allow me to tip, because it was a holiday. But he didnt bring plates, napkins or chopsticks that Id asked for on the order.Hot and Sour soup was the best of the items we bought. Id say it was better than Panda Express but not nearly as good as Andy and Yus. It was just bland. It needed a little more hot or a little more sour or a little more of both. Otherwise, the consistency was on par.Bland is the best word to describe the food here. We got veggie chow fun and the noodles were mushy and overcooked, as well as the vegetables. We got the food so quickly from the restaurant, there was no excuse for it to be so overcooked. For the first time I can remember (at least 20 years), I put soy sauce on the food due to how bland it was.Chicken with vegetables was the same. Bland. Chicken dry and overcooked. Veggies also overcooked, missing that wok fried crunch that is expected for Chinese meals. We had been so excited at the reviews about a place we had never tried. We ended up very disappointed. I would say that if Andy an Yus is closed and you absolutely need your Chinese food craving handled, you may be satisfied with this place. But for us, this will be our first and last experience.Owners: You have a very nice staff and Im sure you have the capability to use higher quality food, spices and proper cooking techniques. Please bring the quality level up to standard.

SOZO Sushi
2835 Hopyard Rd, Pleasanton, CA 94588, United States
It was our first time at Sozo Sushi and we are glad that we tried it. I randomly selected this place from Google Maps when my daughter told me that she was craving for Japanese food.Just to set expectations, this place may not be Japanese owned and operated. Just for some who are experts on Japanese sushi and expect it to be a pure Japanese sushi experience. I am not an expert but after going to many Japanese sushi restaurants the quality of how they cut the fish and ingredients on dishes are different. However, it does not mean that the quality at Sozo is bad. It is the opposite. The fish are fresh, the portions on the sashimi are generous. and all the cooked food that we ordered are delicious! In addition to salmon and toro sashimi, we ordered beef sukiyaki, tempura, and grilled squid. Most importantly, we love the staff! It felt like family welcoming us. Everyone was friendly and welcoming and the service was very, very good!We will certainly eat here again and I highly recommend it! Try it at least once, you will not regret it!

Gold Chopsticks
3170 Santa Rita Rd Suite A-11, Pleasanton, CA 94566, United States
Discovering Golden Chopstick in Dublin, California, was a true culinary revelation. The absence of a noteworthy Chinese restaurant in Stockton led me to venture all the way to Dublin, and it defined an experience beyond expectations. While its undeniable that the prices lean towards the higher side, this is justified by the demographics of the location. Investing around a hundred bucks for four dishes might seem steep, but the portions are not only substantial but also incredibly delectable. The flavors are a testament to the care and skill invested in the culinary artistry. What truly sets Golden Chopstick apart is not just the food but the outstanding service. Maggie, our gracious host, ensured every aspect of our dining experience was impeccable. The attention to detail in making sure the food arrived piping hot, delicious, and ready was a testament to the commitment to customer satisfaction. Now, lets delve into the gastronomic journey itself. The Mongolian lamb was a symphony of flavors, each bite offering a delightful combination of tender meat and robust spices. The Lovers Promise lived up to its name, providing a divine experience that tantalized the taste buds. The salt pepper fish was an unbelievable culinary adventure, elevated further by the addition of a homemade chili sauce that allowed for a personalized spice level. When I come across something that defies a conventional rating scale of 1 to 10, and ventures into the realm of extraordinary, Golden Chopstick undoubtedly falls into that category. This is not just a restaurant; its an experience that deserves a permanent place in your phonebook, contacts, or even a business card for seamless and delightful orders. Prepare for a genuine surprise with each visit to this culinary haven.

Gobi Mongolian Grill
4811 Hopyard Rd #1, Pleasanton, CA 94588, United States
We are 30 minutes away, but this is the closest good Mongolian BBQ to us.Our family loves good Mongolian BBQ, and this is excellent. We really like fresh pocket bread/flat bread BUT this place does NOT have bread. I like a cold one with a spicy bowl, but it also does NOT have beer or wine. Nevertheless, it gets 5 stars. It does have unlimited, self-serve, white rice and excellent self serve unsweetened ice tea. The ingredients available are superior, fresh, plentiful, and with a wide variety. You get to pack the bowl yourself (including the meats). The sauces are also top notch (and include a variety of spicy options). Dont miss the topping tray (hidden just PAST the cooktop - including spices and sesame seeds)!I am a very big boy, with a hardy appetite, but one (really packed) bowl has always been more than enough for me.We are expert architects creating stable bowls many inches over the edge, so the inexperienced, timid, or famished may want to take advantage of the two bowls deal. The ambiance is a clean and pleasant 1980s strip-mall joint, quite acceptable for Mongolian BBQ. This is self-serve, so service is not much of an issue, but the cashier and cook were great each time we have been. The chef often does not speak much english.Another review referenced specific chefs on specific days...it seems this is no longer the case. BUT some chefs DO use substantially more water than other chefs. Ask cashier, or watch one bowl cook, before adding your sauces (double sauce for large water chefs).

New India Bazar
3160 Santa Rita Rd, Pleasanton, CA 94566, United States
New India Bazaar is our grocery store of choice for all things Indian. We moved to Dublin recently from Sunnyvale and one of the things we missed was an equivalent of the India Cash and Carry store on El Camino. The few Indian stores that we visited were almost lacking in some thing or the other. Not so with this store. This store features fresh vegetables and fruits and also a variety of read-to-eat Indian stuff (refrigerated and other dry stuff). Plus the great part of this store is that it is clean and big, something that most other stores in the immediate vicinity lack. Shopping is easy here. As is everything in the Bay area, weekends are perhaps a wrong time to be in this store given the huge number of people who come here, but weekdays are a breeze. The staff is helpful and polite. You almost have everything you require and cant recollect a single instance where we wanted some stuff and we could not get it.Apart from groceries and readymade stuff-to-eat, this store also has utensils that anyone growing in India is familiar too. The store can improve in stocking these utensils, but then in all the months that I have been there, I have never seen anyone buying these utensils so perhaps the management is aware of this.In short, if you are looking to buy fresh groceries, pulses, grains, flour and other Indian food, this is the place that you want to go in the Dublin-Pleasanton area. I am fairly certain that you will not be disappointed. The only thing that I am not sure is cost and how they compare it to ICC. But then again, most of our grocery purchases that we do once a week is limited to a few 10s of dollars. Frankly, it doesnt matter whether we save or lose a buck or two.

Hopyard Village
3015 Hopyard Rd, Pleasanton, CA 94588, United States
My brother in law picked this place. I was in town, and asked him to have lunch with us. He and I had steak tacos, my husband had a Philly cheese steak. Everything was great. Our waiter was on top of our beverages, and cleared the table promptly. We kept an eye on how busy they were, because we wanted to visit, but not impede their business. I would go again.

Kura Revolving Sushi Bar
2725 Stoneridge Dr #113, Pleasanton, CA 94588, United States
As someone who has been to the location at Convoy San Diego, this location is a huge disappointment. We were a party of 4, checked in at 9pm, and was seated at 9:30pm. First thing I noticed, is that the table and seats were not wiped down properly, there was residue from the last customers. Next, the server that brought the drinks, soy sauce pan, and wasabi basically threw or dropped the items on the table. Next, there was another server that explained how things worked, also told us that the tablet would stop taking orders at 9:45. As there was basically no food on the belt, we had to use the tablet. And not only that, it also limited the orders we could place. At around 9:45 the tablet stopped working, we wanted to order more food but nobody came to check on us for a while so we pressed for the call button. We noticed that the servers went to the other tables to see how other customers were doing, but seemed to just disregard us. It took them about 10 minutes when we called out to one of them passing by before they noticed us, and we asked if we could order more food, that same server who told us the tablet would stop taking orders at 9:45pm, said the kitchen closes at 9:45pm, and the only option by that time was to get the bill, so not only was she going against what she had told us initially. She wasnt being apologetic at all, she wasnt even making an effort to somehow make it a better experience for us. It just makes no sense to still be taking customers at that point, if we only have 10-15 minutes to eat. Where is the courtesy reminder? How do we even get to enjoy this? Apart from the horrible customer service (the host also had very dramatic long leopard sort of print of nails which is the first time Ive ever seen in a food service environment), the quality of the food just cant compare to the SD location. The nigiri rice broke off. The overall experience was just horrible, we would never come to this location again.

Fiery Shanghai
2717 Stoneridge Dr #103, Pleasanton, CA 94588, United States
We were in town for some shopping and stopped by afterwards. The restaurant was busy and we didn't have to wait long at all to be seated. We were promptly asked if we wanted tea or something to drink and given menus. I don't speak mandarin and the owner was able to communicate with us in English and some Cantonese. There are a few Shanghaiese dishes we are familiar with and have had elsewhere so we wanted to compare: the Shanghaiese flat noodles (“Leen Go”), the hot and sour soup, the dumplings in chili oil, and the beef meatballs (Sze Tze Tau), and the red bean dessert (almost like a flatbread). The food was good and came out in 5-10 minutes (soup, noodles, beef, dumplings, dessert). Certain dishes like the dumplings were a bit salty (not uncommon with northern cuisine), but the food was flavorful. I don't think the one star reviews are legit and they are a bit off base and harsh. The restaurant was clean, the food was good, the price was a bit pricey but not out of range for Bay Area pricing that I've had at other Asian restaurants. Our 5 course meal for two came to $65.There was selection here that isn't available elsewhere. Not a single reason for a one star review. Contrary to another review the food isn't Americanized; the restaurant was full of Asian people (I have yet to go to a Chinese restaurant that is Americanized that has a full house of Asian customers; thats like finding a Chinese Unicorn). This is worth a try people so that you can make a decision for yourself.
