Panera Bread
800 W San Marcos Blvd, San Marcos, CA 92078, United States
This location has tons of seating, but arranged in a way that it doesnt feel crowded. Has that darker cafe feel but most of the tables have lights overhead so it isnt uncomfortably dark to study in. There is plenty of parking. At dinner time the parking lot was a bit crowded due to a special at Chipotle next door, but the restaurant was not too crowded.Today I got the YouPick2 - ceasar salad and French Onion soup. Both were delicious! My food was ready just as I was sitting down (though to be fair, for soup and salad they didnt have to do much!).My only complaint is that there arent very many outlets (and theyre all near doors it seems, which gets chilly!). Being near San Marcos High and Palomar college, with lots of student floating through, this would be a good improvement.
Panda Garden

This is my first time visiting a Sub-marine store. Friendly folks behind the counter that greeted me when I walked in and were available to take my order right away. Very large number of subs to choose from and you can of course customize. There are 3 sizes to choose from with the medium sandwitch slightly larger than a subway. They also have chips, fresh baked cookies, bottled drinks and fountain soda although they are only Pepsi products. All in all a clean place, with a nice sized dinning areawith prices comperable (for medium sandwiches) with competitors.
Eugenio Italian Ristorante

Eugeno Italian Restaurant in San Marcos, CA. Wow, what a wonderful find. This Italian restaurant is truly special. Appertizes, entrees, and deserts are all special recipes you do not normally find in a small, intimate neighborhood restaurant. We truly enjoyed the:Calamari ( fresh, tender, and plentiful )Special garlic bread ( made with a special bread that takes two days to rise )Lobster bisque ( a large bowl of savory bisque with floating croutons and cheese )Salmon capachio ( fresh and delightful)Veal pamagnano ( two huge cutlets in a wonderful meat sauce with pamagnano cheese with pesto rigatoni on the side. Veal comes with roasted potatoes and vegetables or a side of pasta.Lasagna (one of the best meat sauce recipes I have ever had)The desserts were wonderful. Creme brulee and tiramisu were fantastic. We took home plenty of everything for our next days lunch.Remember to make a reservation as seating is limited. ¹Dont hesitate to try Eugenios Italian Restaurant.Anna and Tim will take care of all your meal needs.
Hyuga Sushi
844 W San Marcos Blvd, San Marcos, CA 92078, United States
Horrible! Horrible! PLEAAAAASE STAY AWAY from this Horrible Place. We arrived at 4:15 pm ordered right away. Get this Ladies and Gents, my wife and I ordered TWO ITEMS, yes not 5, not 3.... TWO ITEMS... We didnt order appetizers oh my goodness... and we waited for almost TWO HOURS and we left with our table and stomach still empty. Although we are pretty hungry, we like to give restaurants fair chance thats why we waited but then when they dont even check on you to make sure youre okay or at least apologize for the wait we decided to leave. So when my wife went up to talk to the server and told her that we can no longer wait. She didnt even checked if the order is ready, beg us to stay or at least apologize sincerely. She just said okay cancel order. Quite unprofessional and rude.My advice to them is... If they cant handle a lot of customers then just let them know right away that dining in is no longer available. At least customer is aware that the wait is going to be long and if he/she wants to come back later they can, or if they decided to wait.. well its on them. Believe me, if they only did this system I wouldnt even give them a bad review. I wouldnt just be fine with it.I also noticed that the Itamae (Sushi Chef) just prepares food that are to go. They dont know how to prioritize orders! Again this is a horrible place, we will never go back and will never recommend. If I could give 0 star I would....
Aria Restaurant
1650 Descanso Ave, San Marcos, CA 92078, United States
We enjoyed everything about Grill House Cafe and are so glad they are in San Marcos! We had the chicken + koubideh combo and the meat was so tender and flavorful plus the rice was perfect. My son had the lentil soup which I plan to get next time. My husband and son also had the cutlet sandwich which was yummy as well! The new restaurant decor is beautiful with many special touches. And the warm and friendly service rounded out our first time there perfectly so we know well be back soon!
Sushi Huku
727 W San Marcos Blvd #105, San Marcos, CA 92078, United States
Ive been going there for about 4 years now and I love the place. The environment and the people are upbeat and always chill. Good reggie always playing, and Jay, Woo, and Pete are always there to hang out with. Its the only place where when I was done having my sushi I went bowling with the sushi chef, where else can you find that? Its like a family there and when you come you welcomed in. I love the place so much its the last meal I have before going to Iraq, and thats been twice so far. Its the first place I stop every time I get back from Iraq. I make it a habit to go at least twice a month. I suggest getting sitting at the bar so you can chat with Jay, Woo or Pete. They will always be nice and talk to you and are happy to answer any questions you have on the sushi that is being made. I would call or arrive early on Friday and Saturday so that way you can get a seat, its a smaller place and so it gets packed quickly. If youre waiting to get in do what me and my friends do and get a hacky sack circle going (if ya see it happening its probably me). If youre into getting your drink on they have a selection of beer and saki, and we always do saki bombs every time I go there so ask about them. The prices are average, not insanely high like some places Ive been to, I always go with the all you can eat and then get whatever else on the side and usually end up spending about $30 - $35 on myself. I highly suggest having the dragon roll, crunch roll, rainbow roll, and caterpillar roll. The sashimi has always been good, I love the salmon and tuna. I recommend huku to anyone, Ive taken plenty of my friends (also marines) who have never had sushi and they love it. I cant wait until I get back from this deployment to go there again its that good. Several of my friends, one from jersey and the other from vegas and they both said it was the best sushi theyve ever had, and there freakn sushi connoisseurs. To wrap it up the place is freakn awesome, great food, good environment, awesome chefs and decent price.
Chick-fil-A
587 Grand Ave, San Marcos, CA 92078, United States
I think its safe to say there is a love affair between In N Out and Chick Fil A. This is 1 of 4 set ups where they are extremely close if not neighboring each others restaurants. Its also kind of interesting to know that the employee satisfaction at each is extremely high. They literally arent just pretending to be happy. When they are busy during a rush this parking lot is a pile. Too many places crammed into this corner and the only other open entrances is way down on the other end. Plus with the 4 way stop and the gas station entrance it almost makes me want to eat at Jersey Mikes. Its really just the line up to the drive thru for INO blocks CFA and all that blocks everyone else. Here is the kicker, say you walk up they have an exit specific door right by the registers, that doesnt make sense, unless its so busy the drive thru is backed up and then the inside is backed up.Bathroom is small and kind of darkly decorated. I know its a bathroom at a kind of fast food restaurant, but its a very different vibe than the dining room. Not so stark bright white like I was expecting.Pretty large dining area with well proportioned seating, I hate places where you have 4 chairs and can only get 3 trays on the table, plus the flowers are such a nice touch. Décor is more agreeable to me than any other fast foodery.First off their grilled chicken is spot on tender and perfect and I usually get the club, not for the bacon...They now offer some other cheese options like jack and swiss instead of the standard provo. The pickles under the bun always bothered me, but they are totally willing to put them on the side along with the lettuce which is all too often way too big a piece. Their prices are a little higher than most, but the quality in chicken and breading is really top notch. The chicken tortilla soup is kind of meh, prefer the standard chicken, but even that is thickened too much or perhaps Im more used to home made or even the more brothy souplantation style. I love how they use the newer Heinz dip packs for ketchup and are still more than willing to give you sauces, but just not out there for the rampant abuse we all know. They do need to step up their bacon game. Waffle fries to me are better for face stuffing because of the speed at which you can get the starchy goodness in your face, love the skin on and you get way more sauce on them.Sweet tea is the only way to go, frankly its one of those drinks that I exclusively eat when I do BBQ and when offered I always get. Its not a Socal thing at all and to stick with their tradition I do it.Service is excellent, it always is. Ive never had a bad experience here and though not open quite as long as INO to me it gets the nod over them more often than not, all things equal.
Nachos Taco Shop
681 S Rancho Santa Fe Rd, San Marcos, CA 92078, United States
Driving around I saw a long line for Taco Johns and Taco Bell. I stopped here at Nachos, where they have take out and also spaced out places to done in. I ordered Garlic Shrimp plate that came with a salad, rice, refried beans and guacamole besides a pan fried jalapeno and your choice of corn or flour tortillas. You also get pico de Gallo, green or red salsa on the side. The food was phenomenal and the personel was friendly and courteous. I had the cinnamon sugar cookies as well as the chocolate ones and they are also some of the best I have ever had. I am so pleased! Why go to a sub par place when you can get the real deal with no waiting in line!!!!
Banh Mi San Marcos
706 S Rancho Santa Fe Rd, San Marcos, CA 92078, United States
French Baguettes at a Vietnamese restaurants. Well to be fair this place is all about the sandwich and less about say Vietnamese food. The equivalent to the po boy. Its a skinny French baguette filled with assorted meats, daikon, jalapeno, carrots and a buttery mayo. After years of latenight Lees in Orange county I was craving something a little closer to home. Lees has the distinction of being open late, really late and having a large menu of inexpensive, what I call snacks, 1 is never enough. This is not lees, they are larger, meatier, but for some reason I still prefer the daikon and slightly less expensive version from Lees. I like the larger, softer rolls they use here and man do they slather on the buttery mayo. It either masked the jalapeno or the jalapeno was weak and didnt complete the flavor experience. I love how their #1 is just a combination of 4 other sandwiches. Came out pretty quick and just a part of a ducket more expensive they get the leg up on the bread alone. The shop is small and they offer a clear noodle soup which sounded interesting, probably not pho, but something else. Ill be back, I must make the menu my own.
