Veggie Lee Restaurant
1169 W A St, Hayward, CA 94541, United States
It's not often I can go to a restaurant and order everything on the menu. I usually have to scan the menu for something plant-based or at least pescatarian. At Veggie Lee, a vegan Chinese restaurant, the sky's the limit. The restaurant also accommodates the practice of some Buddhists who eschew garlic and onions. Those ingredients are not included in any of Veggie Lee's dishes and that fact is clearly marked on the menus.I have ordered Veggie Lee offerings through delivery service many times. I have only eaten in the restaurant twice. On this visit, I ordered from the lunch menu. My rating is more a reflection of the limited wheelchair access within the restaurant than the food or the service. My dining partner and I ordered pot stickers as an appetizer. The filling was wonderfully textured and flavorful. The outer shell was soft and crisp. I could have made a meal of potstickers and may do so in the future. We had hot tea with the meal and I heartily recommend the citron honey tea, a cold drink I've had with many Veggie Lee delivery orders. My entree was preceded by hot and sour soup. The spicy soup with small tofu chunks was an unexpected delight and prepared my palate for the entree, vegan sesame chicken.I ordered the vegan chicken with brown rice. It was so tasty. The flavor and texture made me want to be more adventurous and try more items on Veggie Lee's menu in the future. The sesame chicken entree came with broccoli. My years of plant-based eating have led me beyond broccoli. It was well-prepared, but I'm not in love with broccoli any more. Sorry, broccoli. It's me, not you. We also ordered green beans. The crispy green beans were packed with flavor, but were salty in spots. The disappointing part of my dining experience occurred when I had to use the restroom. The spaces between tables and booths are narrow. As long as waitstaff wasn't taking someone's order, I could clear the pathways in a small manual wheelchair. The barriers started when I left the dining area and approached the hallway to the restrooms. There were high chairs for children stacked at the beginning of the hallway. I could barely scrape (and I did scrape) by. With a larger wheelchair or mobility device, I wouldn't have been able to access the restroom without asking for help. Asking for help to the restroom is not something adults enjoy doing. The sink in the ladies room is far, far away from the counter edge. I had to lean far, far forward to reach it. That isn't something I can do all the time. The thought of having to leave the restroom without washing my hands is not a good thought. My recommendations to the restaurant to improve accessibility (because I'd like to come back) are to 1) consider replacing the sink and counter with something that isn't set so far back or, at least, give customers the option of using hand sanitizer in an accessible location within the restroom; 2) consider replacing restroom doors with ones that aren't so heavy; and 3) please, please, please move the high chairs.
Ghazni Afghan Kabobs & Restaurant

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Ghazni Afghan Kabobs, and I must say, it was an absolute treat for my taste buds! From the moment I stepped foot into the restaurant, I was greeted with warm smiles and a welcoming atmosphere. The menu at Ghazni Afghan Kabobs offers a delightful array of traditional Afghan dishes, but it was their kabobs that truly stole the show. The succulent, tender pieces of meat were seasoned to perfection and cooked over an open flame, resulting in a smoky and irresistible flavor that I simply couldnt get enough of.One of the standout dishes was their Lamb Kabob. The meat was incredibly juicy and infused with a harmonious blend of spices that brought out its natural richness. Each bite was a burst of flavors, leaving me craving more with every mouthful. The accompanying fluffy saffron rice and fresh salad perfectly complemented the kabobs, making for a well-rounded meal. Not only were the kabobs exceptional, but the service at Ghazni Afghan Kabobs was outstanding as well. The staff went above and beyond to ensure a memorable dining experience. They were attentive, friendly, and offered insightful suggestions on menu choices. Their genuine passion for the cuisine was evident, and it added an extra layer of enjoyment to the meal. The ambiance of the restaurant was inviting, with warm lighting and tasteful decor that exuded a cozy and authentic Afghan vibe. It was the perfect setting to savor the delightful flavors while enjoying the company of friends or family. If youre a fan of Afghan cuisine or simply looking to try something new, Ghazni Afghan Kabobs is an absolute must-visit. Their dedication to quality, friendly service, and mouthwatering kabobs make it a standout dining destination. Whether youre a meat lover or prefer vegetarian options, this restaurant caters to all palates.Overall, my experience at Ghazni Afghan Kabobs was exceptional. The combination of delicious food, attentive service, and warm hospitality made it a dining experience I wont soon forget. I highly recommend this gem of a restaurant to anyone looking for a remarkable Afghan culinary adventure.
Ikes Love & Sandwiches
28549 Hesperian Blvd, Hayward, CA 94545, United States
No mayo, mayo substitute (dirty sauce) has undisclosed ingredients. Does have chili. Charged me for Italian dressing (oil and vinegar ( traditional on a sub so why the up-charge?)). Most stuff has some sort of chili in it so little flavor. Unlikely to return...Thanks for replying. I contacted you with more detail on your site. Heres what I said:You responded to my google review and asked me to contact you to discuss how we can improve so here it is.You could not up charge me a dollar to get what is a standard part of a sandwich. Especially when you do not offer the condiments I would like. You could provide a reasonable amount of meat on what was a basic turkey sub with avocado and bacon. My sandwich had no bacon at all, perhaps a ounce and a half of turkey, way too much lettuce, hardly any tomato, and couple of thin strips of onion. Although the quality of the french roll was just right, it became a shredded lettuce sandwich with hints of other flavors. Not worth the $15 I paid for it. If I had had more time on my short lunch break I would have brought this to the attention of the manager at the store, but as I was eating in my car on the way back to work all I could do was a quick google review.Glad you got someone looking at them, but as you dont have a menu one can read efficiently (designed more for a sit-down restaurant rather than a counter based sandwich shop) I couldnt find anything that was appealing to my tastes and you seem to have a divergent idea of what makes a good sandwich and no space for a person who prefers flavor over fire. It seemed, as I stood there trying not to obstruct the short line I was in, that there was nothing on your menu that did not have your dirty sauce on it, and no way to know what was in that condiment. When I asked, the kid at the counter told me it was mayonnaise with spices. I asked what spices and he said that policy prohibited him from saying. I asked if it had chili in it I was told it had a little. A subjective statement that, in that past at other restaurants, has made food inedible for those of us who prefer flavor to having our mouths set on fire. Putting capsaicin in any product without indicating it assumes an acquired taste has been acquired by everyone and so narrows your potential market. Some people never learn to substitute the burning pain of chilies for the flavor of actual spices. So, to respond to your wanting to know my experience and that We want every guest to feel loved, respected, and appreciated and we want your visit to be satisfying.Dont rush my decision, provide a menu that is easily read and deciphered in a line at a lunch rush, balance the amount of ingredients so it not 30% bread, 50% iceberg lettuce, and little else. Make some standard condiments available (and without an up charge (e.g. oil and vinegar, mayonnaise)). Then you might have a place I will go to.

I am always a pro supporter to our brothers and sisters who are working hard to serve us halal food. And always complain about people who try to say any negative review and asks them to be patient instead and try to give another chance. But today I was extremely disappointed from Ghanzi Afghan Kebob house. We were invited to my friend's baby welcoming party. I am the one who suggested Ghanzi kebob after all what people said (before Ramadan) about their food/catering. And I was planning to do my daughter's birthday party there after Ramadan and thought it will be a chance to try it. Their charging price was 30$/person and we were a party of 70 ppl. I will just state what was on the menu and will leave it up to you to decide if that was a fair amount or just way over charged!-Green salad in a plastic container with barely sauce drizzled on top. Basically a dry salad-plan white rice-mushed rice with some veggies that you can't see because it was all over cooked and very mushy (same as the rice I used to make for my daughter as a baby)-a some kind of sauce maybe curry ??♀️with tiny little pieces of chicken mainly wings- chicken/beef kebob (were hard to chew) and there is a lady that serves u two pieces of each ?♀️-some kind of mixed okra and potatoes. My husband and I used to own a restaurant (not anymore) and that is basically not even close to what we used to serve for our brunch buffer for 13$!!! Yes 13$$$$$ I come from a restaurant business background and this food that was served (looks like it was cooked last minute just to fill up the bar) definitely not worth a 30$/person. When you say afghani restaurant paying 30$ you would expect more variety ( manti, qabli rice at least with carrots and raisins, the eggplant dish not sure what is called and some kind of bollani at least!). I am extremely disappointed and embarrassed as an the one who suggested the place to our friends. I understand it's Ramadan, everyone is working hard but also as costumers we expect to get what we pay for. And enjoy a good experience. I wish the owner would read this review and try to improve in the future because all what I can say he lost 70 customers just today because every single person was disappointed!Forgot to mention more to the story. The reservation was confirmed couple days before and a deposit of 300$ was paid and asked the owner/manager to send a menu (never did) called the place many times the last two days no body answered. And yet finally today someone picked up and they actually forgot about the reservation today! Claiming that we never called two days before ?!! Huh? I mean 300$ paid as a deposit? Lets say we forgot to call, you would never check to say that those people paid 300$ and never called? After going back and forth and we were terrified because we actually have 70 ppl expected to come. And we can't change to a different restaurant same day on a Saturday! they gave many excuses and each one was throwing it on the other manager (not professional and disorganized). It was 11 am, So they claimed its last minute and they can't make everything on the buffet! Well Azan is around 8pm ! Its hard to believe that they can't make more items. And what got to my nerves is that they had someone stand next to the kebobs and serves only two pieces each!!! Kebobs were the only star of the buffet and this is a private party not your regular buffet! The manager who was today was absolutely not welcoming. Whatever the scenario is, Wether we agreed on food or not, confirmed before or not …. A restaurant should not serve this kind of food for a 30$ per person!

Best pizza I had here in Hayward! I've tried so many places, and this is the best so far!! Good deals without reducing the quality of food you get.I had mine delivered, so I am not sure what the atmosphere is like at the shop.I love the Hawaiian and Supreme pizza~ and the chicken wings are great too!Review EditI ordered again today, 12/11.Just a Large Hawaiian pizza this time.I have to call them to send thw pizza again, cause they called me, and I dis not answer, so they took the pizza back to the store.I received the call about 7 mins after placing my order, so I did not expect it to be that fast, and the caller is not using a number with Hayward's area code, so did not answer it.I don't answer calls feom unknown numbers, plus, they didn't even leave a message. They called 2 consecutive times, so I thought it was a persiatent scammer.I waited 20 mins after my expexted delivery time before calling the pizza place for an update... and they didn't even try to reach me again between those times. My order arrived for another 35 mins after I called... which is supposed to be the correct waiting time... so I don't really get why the driver is already at my place 7 mins after I placed my order... and I didn't even hear a knock at my front door.So that's why my review went 2 stars down.If you're going to the store to order though, that would be best.

I cant believe there wasnt a line out the door at 1:00 because the food is this good. Eat here as often as you can before this place gets too popular!Lalos himself was working the grill and greeted me immediately when I walked in. My food came out quickly. I ordered carne asada, al pastor, and quesabirria tacos. Everything was so hot and fresh and expertly presented. Lalos obviously cares about the food he makes. He came over and asked me how everything was and chatted with me for a bit, which has never ever happened to me at a taqueria even though I speak Spanish. Dude gives a damn and it shows. The most important part of a taqueria to me is the salsa/hot sauce. If the salsa isnt spicy or theyre stingy with it, I dont care how juicy the asada is or how big the portions are--Im out. Luckily, they brought out three different huge bottles of homemade hot sauce with my order so I could have as much as I wanted. And the red sauce was hot thank God. No tomatillos or other filler. Heavy on the chiles. They had a La Victoria style orange sauce, but like the replicas I have tried to make at home, it has the look but missing something in the flavor. Luckily the red sauce was so good I didnt even bother with the others. Gimme the hot stuff. It was a little hot and stuffy in the restaurant because it was 1PM in August. The air conditioner and fan drowned out the music. Having said that, I brought a book and had no problem reading while I ate. There was another couple who looked like they were on a date and they seemed comfortable. I dont want to say this is a you should order your food to go atmosphere because it was so delicious fresh out of the kitchen. Im a fast eater so who cares.Ill be getting my tacos here from now on!

I, too, had lunch with a friend on the 19th. There were so many things from which to choose, I will take time to study the menu before I return :-). I enjoy vegetarian and meat dishes, so I will have even more options. The main dish we had was a Lamb curry, but we also had Puri Bhaji, Samosa Chaat, and Garlic Naan. We both had leftovers to take home, so we were able to continue our enjoyment. The staff, and I believe one of the owners -or a manager, were very attentive and encouraged feedback; to me, that is very important as it shows that patrons are important and part of the road to success in a new restaurant. I have already recommended the restaurant to friends (and my neighbors). Thank you.

Excellent food with tasty sauce and tender meats (we had chicken and lamb). The vegetarian Thali was also very tasty and unique. Great and attentive service from our pleasant server making us feel very special. We were politely greeted as we entered the restaurant. We appreciated the welcoming and warm atmosphere.

We did cater korean food from this restaurant, and it was amazing. Every employee loved their food. They offer special cater menu if needed. Some portions were for vegetarians, and satisfied vegans as well.
Papaito Rotisserie

Overall disappointing! The food and service. The Rib was seriously undercooked and tough. This wasn't just cooked medium they we quite raw and difficult to even cut(even with a real knife. The Chicken was well cooked and flavorful though. The asparagus, Brussel sprouts, and potatoes were all under cooked and not well seasoned. My kids liked the brown rice but I found it kind of Mehhhh. We all found the chocolate ricotta pudding not very tasty either. But it was also our first time trying this so it may be good for someone who is familiar with that dessert. There were 2 things we all unanimously agreed we loved. The cheesy corn dip even though we had trouble splitting the 5 plantain chips they gave us between 3 people and the Porchetta. Those were the only redeeming factors that got them the 2 stars. I decided to give this a try after seeing a thread where several people recommended it. My daughter was being released form the ER we had been there all day and were hungry and tired. I ordered ahead online. It quoted a 30-45 minute wait for pick up. I got the confirmation at 5:14pm. We went and picked up her prescription and headed that way during rush hour from San Leandro. When we were almost there at about 6pm I got a text saying my order was just now confirmed and it would be ready at 6:21pm. We were goi to be a little early so we waited in the car. When we finally went in we were told it would be another 10 minutes that ended up turning into much longer we didn't get the food until about 7pm more then twice the time quoted. On the way my kids urged to me just cancel and get something closer because they were hungry. I assured them I had ordered far enough in advance it would be ready so we won't have to wait like we would starting an order somewhere else. Boy was I wrong! They were friendly and apologetic of the wait. I didn't complain at all even though I was quite tired and frustrated that I had no idea there was a delay until I was basically there and even then it was much greater than even the text said. Things happen and I try to be understanding. I paid over $100 for this meal and it is extremely disappointing to have dealt with such a wait and still gotten undercooked food. If I would have stopped somewhere on the way I would have spent far less money, probably gotten something familiar we knew would be good, and been home almost an hour earlier from an already hectic day.
