Julias
1180 Forest Ave suite f, Pacific Grove, CA 93950, United States
This was an incredible find for my wife and I while vacationing in Pacific Grove. Ive been vegetarian for many years, and Julias has become my favorite vegetarian restaurant! The food is fresh, very flavorful, and presented wonderfully. The locally sourced wild mushrooms were the star of the show. The staff was so friendly and knowledgable and we felt like we were visiting at a friends house. The location is very small, so at peak times expect a wait!

The Old St. Angela Inn

I stayed at the Old St. Angela Inn a couple of weeks ago as a solo traveler and had a simply wonderful stay. The room (Whale Watch) was very clean and attractive... featuring a working gas fireplace, large bathtub with jacuzzi jets, and -- best of all -- a delightful balcony with a view of the ocean! My bed was extremely comfortable. It is a lovely older building, and another reviewer described it well as being like going to stay at your cool Great Aunts house. It does have all the modern amenities you will need! (No television, but thats ok...who needs tv when you can walk a block away and be mesmerized by a colony of harbor seals? Bring a tablet and stream things on the wifi if you need a tv fix. ) The included breakfast every morning was absolutely delicious and filling. The location is great, too... about a ten minute walk to the world-famous aquarium. But the greatest thing about the Inn is host Angela and her team. Angela knew I was traveling alone and unfamiliar with the area, and took lots of time to make me feel welcome and give me great advice and tips for things to see. (She even had a couple of discounts to area attractions, so you should ask her if she has anything available when you stay there!) Angela always made sure coffee and tea were available, even late at night or early morning, and also provided a few light snacks through the day. She and the other staff really aim to please... when I made an extremely last-minute decision to go whale-watching one morning, Angela and the young woman working in the kitchen whipped together a delightful brown bag meal for me to take with me. They did this in only about ten minutes, and Im very grateful for their flexibility, kindness, and hard work.If you want to stay in a beautiful, clean, historic B&B with delicious food and a host and staff who genuinely look out for your comfort and happiness, then look no further. The Old St. Angela Inn is the place. THANK YOU ANGELA FOR A WONDERFUL STAY! :)
Lucys On Lighthouse
1120 Lighthouse Ave, Pacific Grove, CA 93950, United States
When I walked in, I was greeted by a friendly waitress. She seemed nice and on her A-game. I ordered the Asilomar, which was a bacon wrapped chili dog with cheese sauce and jalapeños, and the Ollie, tater tots with a sprinkle of green onion (why the green onion? Who knows). Once I received my order, it looked kinda good, but it really wasn't. I was clueless on how I should approach eating it. The bun was very soggy. I picked up the dog and it all fell apart and plopped back into the boat. It was very sad. I took a bite anyway because I was hungry and what do you know, no flavor... The dog it's self was kinda greasy, I got a small hint of beef but that was it. I saw the bacon but the flavor was nonexistent. The chili was probably the worst part. No flavor, bland, you name it! I took a closer look and saw that they used canned tomatoes...That's a no-go. Canned? In a restaurant? You gotta be kidding me. The cheese sauce was subpar, no real flavor. It was all just sad.The tater tots were pretty subpar too. I buy the Great Value ones at Walmart and those taste better than these!! $8 for this? What? I can get a bag for like $5 and it'll last a good week tops! Why the green onion? It's not healthy food so why bother adding it? The green onion did not taste fresh either. It tasted as if it was just sitting there for a few hours, precut, waiting to be sprinkled on some subpar tots. Disgusting.Overall, the food was not to my liking nor were the prices. $12 for a subpar hot dog? No thank you. $8 for some subpar tater tots with a sprinkle of stale green onion? Nope. If you like subpar food, this place is for you! I will say the service was nice, but that's all this place will get. The addition of live music was nice too so that's why I'm rating this place 2 stars. If you want a good place with good food and atmosphere, you need to work more on the most important aspect: the food!
Taste Cafe & Bistro
1199 Forest Ave Unit 5, Pacific Grove, CA 93950, United States
I go out to eat every weekend. I love to cook mostly fresh food and no smothereing sauces So when I eat out I love a good taste bud shock with something new. I east almost everything except cow tongue. LOLI dont skimp I alway have appetizer then a salad and an entree. Along with a drink or two but never more.We finally visited Taste Cafe & Bistro. We were greated very nicely at the door given choice where to sit.Service right away was pleasant. The food I had escargot which was tender in a butter sauce. Not heavy or salty or garlicky. It was very tasty I do prefer a bit of garlic but that is personal taste.I then had a very fresh Cesar salad but not soaking in dressing which is great. I could have asked for more dressing if I wantedDinner well I never had rabbits and explained that I would like to try it and since I eat almost everything I wouldnt feel bad if I didnt like it. But this is where Sue our server stood way out. She very well explained the differant taste and very nicely said if I didnt like it to tell her right away and she would get me something else. Not that was a very amazing offer but I couldnt go wrong. So then the end of the story I liked everything they servedThe big question youre all looking for is yes I will go back again to see if I get the same wonderful service and food that I had before. I would also try other things on the menu.We all have our own personal tastes so I would feel comfortable to ask for a special spice or different twist on something they serve. Will see next time .. Thank you for making my first experience at your restaurant pleasurable
Ttobongee Chicken
1184 Forest Ave Suite E, Pacific Grove, CA 93950, United States
After picking up my son from his school, my family went to this restaurant today (April 21, 2016)at 5:00pm. The lady who is the owner of this restaurant took our order. She was serious, no greetings from her but we started to make conversation with her asking how old is her restaurant and she answered back 4 years old. After 5 to 10 minutes our food was ready and that was great! My wife ordered spicy pork and while eating she found a hair and I suggested to show it to the lady. The lady said, it was not a hair but it was a ginger thread. So my wife went back to our table and our son wanted to see it. Our son made a comment like this Its really a hair Mom! Right there and then, the lady grabbed all our plates and glasses of water and said with an angry voice. Okay, you dont have to pay!. We were so shocked. We were not even finished with the food. And me and my son were still eating as we have a different order. I would say that this woman who claimed to be the owner was so RUDE in handling the problem like this. My wife said to her, my son is still finishing his food and were not done yet! But she continued acting being rude with no manners infront of us, especially infront of our son. I never experienced a server most especially an owner of a restaurant to be so rude and with no character. This is my message to the owner of this restaurant: I am an Engineer and my wife is working in a hotel for almost 15 years. And if you think that we just came to your restaurant and complained just to have a free meal SHAME ON YOU!
Seven Gables Inn, A Kirkwood Collection Hotel
555 Ocean View Blvd, Pacific Grove, CA 93950, United States
Truly, the stay of a lifetime! I cannot wait to come back on both a couples trip, and a girls trip and have recommended Seven Gables to all of my friends who have inquired as to my pictures, where is THAT??I stayed in the Cypress room which was absolutely unbelievable. I enjoy sipping coffee on the massive window seat and looking out at the ocean. I sincerely could not believe how beautiful the room and the view were. I enjoyed daily runs on the bike path right across the street, and at Asilomar state beach (a quick 1.5 mile jaunt down the street). The particulars: the room was beautifully appointed (cozy robes, extra blankets, water, etc) and spotlessly clean. The bed was very comfortable and the inn was very quiet--this room is along the street and I didnt hear any noise aside from a few creaks one expects from a very old house. The parking was perfect--I was driving in, nervous about this and literally parked outside my room every day. They have a small lot but I never used it because street parking was plentiful.Thank you for a fantastic stay--I cannot wait to come back!Quick addendum--Ive seen other reviews complain about the breakfast: I found it plentiful and there are TONS of places within walking distances if you dont like it/want a huge breakfast. The lack of A/C posed zero problem to me--I was coming from New England and sweating in Cali the moment I got off the plane, and was not hot for a single minute at Seven Gables. If you sincerely need central A/C Id suggest booking somewhere that isnt hundreds of years old ;)
Michaels Grill & Taqueria
1126 Forest Ave, Pacific Grove, CA 93950, United States
LOVE THIS PLACE! (The location in Pacific Grove) I always order the blackened shrimp tostada platter and theyre very generous with their side of avocado that comes with it. Occasionally Ill order the blackened shrimp quesadilla with no cheese - I just ask if they can add guacamole in place of the cheese and they kindly do so (NO EXTRA CHARGE). That deserves all caps because it seems like most places these days wont allow you to swap things or if you do they nickel and dime you. So I really appreciate when a restaurant is fair with their customers. If someone omits an item due to a food allergy or health preference, they should be able to sub something in place of that (within price reason) I know avocados are not the cheapest to find so the fact that they do that swap without a hassle is GREATLY APPRECIATED and is another reason why I respect this place and return almost once a week.P.s. I know most people think What is a quesadilla without cheese? but trust me when I tell you that this modification is just as delicious! and definitely a healthier option. Very generous portions and always great customer service!
La Mia Cucina
208 17th St, Pacific Grove, CA 93950, United States
Many, many things wrong and odd with this restaurant. No idea how it has such a good rating. This may not be huge deal to others but the pricing was a little extreme. Twenty five odd dollars for a plate of noodles and tomato sauce? A little ridiculous. Nine dollars for lettuce, 8 croutons, and flakes of cheese? The food was mediocre at best and definitely not worth the price they were put at. Split pea and ham soup absent of any ham whatsoever. Lettuce clearly rotting and then covered in what was basically ranch to try to hide it. Then comes the odd. The table was covered in two layers of cloth and underneath a foam-leather table with holes and rips. The restaurant didnt have a bathroom and instead used the neighboring apartment buildings bathroom. The service was decent but they were over polite and friendly to the point of being completely unnatural. One of them walked by me with a good foot between us and she said excuse me and apologized several times. When she walked by again she did the same thing. Sidenote: The starter bread is not free. I have never been to an Italian restaurant that the bread was free. It simply felt that many corners were cut and that they were trying to suck your money away.Edit: Actually I believe there is an explanation for the good reviews. All the customers were extremely friendly and talkative with the staff. I believe that because of this connection they are either biased or were served better foodI would like to say before I am accused of lying or something that these are my personal experiences, observations, and deductions.
Petra Restaurant

Fabulous place. I live three hours away and I come to this restaurant every chance I get. This is an owner owned (family) business and they work extremely hard for perfection. I order the vegetarian platter and it has samples of all their delicious food
