Bliss Cafe
778 Higuera St ste d, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401, United States
I was not a fan of Bliss. The staff was friendly and seemed to care about their job, but the food just left something to be desired. I ordered the Smiling Dogs and was disappointed, the bun was delicious (and the vegetables were crisp and fresh). But the seitan really needs work (too airy, poor flavoring), as well it was cut way to small for the bun and I felt like I was being ripped off for the price because of how small the meat was sitting in the bun.I also got the soup of the day, a lentil variety, and it was gross. Way too many lentils, very little broth, no other visible vegetables, and really shouldve been called a stew. On top of that it was very grainy, and was flavored poorly; I felt like I was eating sand flavored by dirt. As well the bowl was filled poorly (it was pouring over the lip of the bowl), and was supposed to be a cup of soup not a bowl.My partner got the Tempeh Rueben, which she liked (mostly because of the bread), and felt the same about the soup (which she also got). Neither of us ate more than a few bites of the soup, it was just so unpalatable. As well I was not a fan of the atmosphere and was especially confused by the Disney chess set in a very Hindu-themed place. It seemed very out of place. It also smelled like patchouli, which may have been other guests or the store itself; patchouli is a smell that I really do not like.I was going to give this two-stars, but decided on three because the bread was delicious, the staff were very friendly, and with some texture and flavor work the food could be truly great.
Novo
726 Higuera St, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401, United States
Came all the way from Los Angeles for work and wanted to find a place with great food and atmosphere before heading back, happy to say we definitely found it with Novo. The restaurant and food were amazing. Our server AJ definitely helped with great recommendations and giving us plenty of time to choose and enjoy the atmosphere. We were served delicious sparkling water to drink while looking through the menu.I started my evening with the Blueberry sage Mule & my girlfriend tried the strawberry martini. We ordered the chicken lettuce wraps as the appetizer with the Novo soup of the day for myself and the salmon bisque for her. These were absolutely delicious. For our main course we both had the filet mignon, mine (medium) with potatoes and the recommended black rice, she had (medium well) potatoes and baby carrots.Even after all those delectably astounding dishes, we decided to end the night with the Raspberry creme brulee. I know for sure it was a perfect dessert as my gf only gave me one to two tries before she happily finished. We both were in agreement that this had to be the best meal we had in years and are definitely going to come back for special dates & anniversaries.
Ikes Love & Sandwiches
1028 Chorro St, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401, United States
No joke - we did a comparison of local sandwiches at work with all the usual SLO delis. Our team takes sandwiches very seriously, as you can tell. We did a blind taste test and Ikes was a last minute addition because it had just opened. Despite no one having tried it before, Ikes was the top winner. Their bread is good, the secret sauce is delish, and hey free lollipop with each.We had a basic roast beef for the competition and since then Ive been back for a tuna sandwich and a turkey one, both were great. Give it a shot, youll be pleased!
Taco Bell
3810 Broad St #1, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401, United States
I mean, its Taco Bell, what am I to expect?Usually the whole experience is fine, normal fast food interaction. This last time though, I ordered only a single drink online and walked to the mobile order pick up side of the counter as I do when I order online. multiple employees make eye contact with me and go back to doing what they are doing, the single employee at the register helps several guests and continues to pass on the opportunity to ask If I need assistance. After waiting 5 minutes I get into the order line to explain that Im there to pick up a mobile order for a drink. I know its fast food, but customer service is still a thing...Oh and they made the wrong freeze..oh well..
Taco Bell

EMPLOYEES: If youre thinking about working there, my best advice: Dont. I worked there for only a few months. It was so bad I dreaded going to work everyday.Hours: Opens at 7am and closes at 3am. Not too bad during the day, but the night life is completely different. Youll have a huge crowd of drunk college kids coming back from parties screaming like giant toddlers. If youre new, youll probably be stuck with the earliest or latest shifts, but they try to work with your school schedule.Co-workers: Team members are the last words Id use t describe those guys. Theres a creepy manager named Israel that doesnt make up the weekly schedules until Wednesday or a few hours before you even know your shift starts. Also, if youre a college girl, watch yourself. He might just drunk text you one night. As for the other managers, if you cant speak fluent Spanish, communication between you guys will be fuzzy. Also, be prepared to be judged, the sketchy drama behind the counter can be real. Over all, some coworkers will be fun to be with, others (usually the older ones) might bring out your inner crazy.Customers: Varies from time. Any customer after midnight will be a college kid. The later, the drunker and more rowdy. Graveyard shifts have the funniest yet most horrifying moments of the day. From streakers to napkin dispenser thieves, it took me all my strength to not punch those bastards in the face. Conclusion: If you want a laid back, drama-free job, this is probably not the job for you unless you speak fluent Spanish and are a dude. Girls are better off working at Ross or something.CUSTOMERS: Id give it a 2.5/5 but only because of how long some people have to wait. Getting your food during a moderately busy time can take at least ten minutes. Late night drunk kids wait at least a half hour for their food, but theyre so drunk they dont realize how long they wait. Food quality is good for cheap fast food. The staff usually do their best to keep things going. Just try going at a time when its not too crowded.

Corazon Cafe SLO
847 Higuera St, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401, United States
My husband and I were visiting in town and decided to come here for breakfast. We were hopeful given all the good reviews.I ordered the pancakes with fruit, and my husband ordered the breakfast wrap. We were a little disappointed with the selection of food available. Its very limited. I was also hoping for some orange juice, but they didnt have any. Neither my husband nor I was impressed with the food. The pancakes tasted very eggy and the breakfast wrap felt like it was missing something, like it needed potatoes or something. The downtown SLO prices felt overpriced for the quality of the food we received ($33 for just the two entrees). The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was nice with all the colors and decorations. We did however notice flies in the cafe when we walked in. At first, I chalked it up to be from the door being open and it being a warm day. But then I noticed a fly on top of the pastries in the pastry case, which I found to be pretty gross. To say the least, we lost our appetites and couldnt finish our food.Overall, we were disappointed with our experience here and wouldnt recommend this cafe.
COYA Peruvian food
1401 Osos St, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401, United States
Amazingly authentic and delicious Peruvian food freshly cooked by the owner, who was born in Peru. I knew it was going to be good when I walked into the Sidewalk Market (COYA is located inside) and saw an assortment of Peruvian food items I had only seen before in Peru; the owner imports them to make sure the food is the real deal with the real spices. My first bite of the lomo saltado (like a beef stir fry, classic Peruvian dish) transported me to my time living in the country. The owner is incredibly friendly, the prices are cheap for what you get, and the service fast. I cant wait to try more dishes. Highly recommended for a breakfast, lunch, or dinner to picnic in Mitchell Park or take wherever youre going!
Baywood Park Pier
601-639 El Moro Ave, San Luis Obispo, CA 93402, United States
Great little strip of sand for playing. At mid tide levels you have a nice bit of sand and a little water. Reasonably sheltered from the wind, these last few months have been beautiful and warm.Excellent launch point for kayaks, canoes or SUP.At low tide, the mud can be terribly deep and stinky if your dog strays too far out from the sand.My dog would give it 5 stars as well. Enough clean sand to run and play. Mid level tides have enough water to go for a swim or at least wade in and dip your belly to cool off.Coffee shop a balls throw away for a little snack or warm up.
Ziggys
594 California Blvd, San Luis Obispo, CA 93405, United States
Ziggy’s has a great selection of American comfort food with a vegan twist! I am not vegan or vegetarian, so I can confirm that Ziggy’s tastes better than many other non-vegan, AND vegan restaurants. Support local businesses and try all that veganism has to offer!
Chinelo Mexican Restaurant
1131 Broad St, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401, United States
I think this is the best Mexican restaurant anywhere in the SLO city limits. While there are many, many Mexican restaurants in town, anyone who has been to South LA / San Diego / Mexico and has actually tasted the real home-cooked stuff knows for whatever reason SLO has never quite gotten there. Thats changed with Chinelo. I had the Chicken Molé Burrito and it was excellent. I cannot wait to come back and try more dishes. Vegans / Vegetarians will also rejoice at the large selection of options just for them! I was one of the few sit-down meals. The service and presentation was also really really good. Please dont let a good thing slide by, this place deserves our business and after living here for 12 years, its the ONLY place in SLO Id send people for Mexican food. So happy to have them here!
