Beijing Restaurant
1460 Halford Ave, Santa Clara, CA 95051, United States
This Korean-Chinese restaurant has stood the test of time. Typically, these restaurants are popular for a year or so, and then, as more people go through it, the food quality goes down in general. Beijing isnt an exception. When they first opened, the dishes were great including the staple that Korean-Chinese restaurants must get right - THE JJAJANGMYUN. After a couple years though, I felt the food quality drop. Rumors had it that the chef had left or the owner had changed. And it really went downhill. However, in more recent times, like 2018, something happened where food quality started to go back up. Not just the black bean noodles, but all the seafood or meat dishes also got an upgrade. Wait times were kept under control while the service improved as well as the food. And most importantly, the price remained minimally increased. Korean-Chinese cuisine is the staple of weekend eat out for a regular down-to-earth Korean family, And this restaurant is just that, perhaps the only one in the Bay Area. Super happy that Beijing has remained truthful to the authenticity that it needs to stay truthful to the needs of the Korean community here. And yes, weve already been here too many times. And returning for more!
Yum Noodles

Was disappointed in the food taste although the presentation was good. Just wasnt as good as expected. Not a Vietnamese PHO soup house, its Chinese noodle house. It was very busy though. So maybe got the wrong soup dishes. But I doubt Id stop back versus a PHO or Thais restaurant s close by.
Dumpling Capital
5075 Stevens Creek Blvd #10, Santa Clara, CA 95051, United States
Today was my first time coming to Dumpling Capital and all I gotta say was it was terrific! When seated they gave us water and ginger without asking. Love me some H2OPork soup dumplings: Tasted so good! Full of flavor. Didn’t disappoint!Shanghai Pan fried soup dumpling: full of flavor really good! Wasn’t soupy enough but still didn’t disappoint.Pork pot stickers: Better than any potstickers I ever got in any Chinese restaurant in the 209 area!Hot and Spicy Pork noodles (handmade noodles): Definitely my favorite noodles I ever had in my life. I highly recommend ordering this next time you go! As a latino, this wasn’t as spicy as I thought so I added hot sauce and my wonder bread white girlfriend didn’t turn red eating them so white people can enjoy too!Overall this place was hands down my favorite. I will continue to come and tell my friends all about this place. I wish there was a location in the 209 area! We have no place that sells pork soup dumplings near us. My compliments to the chef and staff! You guys deserve 100 stars.
New Tung Kee Noodle House
264 E Santa Clara St, San Jose, CA 95113, United States
Solid place for a bowl of Chaozhou/Teo-chew(?) style noodle soup, a ethnic type from somewhere around the Chinese-Vietnamese border. Ive been coming here since I was a kid, and my dads been a regular here since his SJSU days back in 1989, and the only thing thats changed has been the prices. Which are still pretty cheap, mind you. Two bowls of noodle soup and a plate of radish cake runs about $25 with tax and tip. Fast service, no-nonsense staff, great food. Plus its not full of students, like the more popular San Carlos restaurants.

Chadani chowk

Chandni Chowk in Santa Clara is a culinary oasis that captures the essence of Indian street food with flair and authenticity. My recent dining experience left me thoroughly impressed, from the first sip of Matka chai to the last bite of Indo-Chinese Triple Schezwan dish. The Matka chai, served in traditional clay pots, was a delightful start to my meal. Its rich aroma and well-balanced spices set the tone for what turned out to be a culinary adventure. The samosa chat was a burst of flavors, with each bite offering a tantalizing combination of crispy samosa and tangy chat toppings that left my taste buds craving for more. The Aslam BBQ chicken was a true revelation. Juicy, soft, and creamy, each piece was a testament to culinary perfection. The flavors were exquisite, and the texture was incredibly tender, making it a standout dish that I would highly recommend.Equally impressive was the Indo-Chinese Triple Schezwan dish. The fusion of Indian and Chinese flavors was executed flawlessly, resulting in a dish that was both comforting and exciting. The spiciness of the Schezwan sauce paired beautifully with the tender vegetables and protein, creating a symphony of flavors that left me thoroughly satisfied.Beyond the exceptional food, the ambiance of Chandni Chowk is a feast for the senses. The truck dhaba vibes and old Bollywood filmy posters transport diners to the bustling streets of India, creating an atmosphere that is lively and inviting. What sets Chandni Chowk apart is its convenient operating hours, staying open till 1 am. This makes it the perfect destination for a late-night craving or a post-party meal. Whether you're looking for a quick bite or a leisurely dining experience, Chandni Chowk delivers on all fronts.
Tofoo Com Chay Vegetarian Cuisine
388 E Santa Clara St, San Jose, CA 95113, United States
This is a tiny hole in the wall place. It was a cold and windy day so I was craving for something hot (noodle soup) and spicy is even better. Decided to try this place out since it was a late lunch (around 2pm).This is in downtown San Jose so no parking. Paid street parking only so take that into consideration your time of arrival. The shop has about 2-3 tiny tables (seat 1 each side but youre pushing it for 2) as its extremely cramp.Originally, I wanted to order just the spring rolls and spicy Hue noodle soup. I ended up ordering probably a weeks worth of take-out. In addition to the 2 items above, instead of the steam rice + entrée combo from the hot bar, I bought the entrée individually. Small round container is $6.00, large is $8.50 (I think)?.I got the braised lemongrass tofu, braised pickled Chinese mustard & tofu (this can be very spicy level) for the average person and lastly fried wonton (but they look and tasted more like goyza. This is a no frill, no thrill, tasty yet homey take-out vegetarian Vietnamese cuisine restaurant. Another vegetarian/vegan option for plant based dinners.
Vegetarian House - Vegan
520 E Santa Clara St, San Jose, CA 95112, United States
Although the menu seems like a Chinese Fastfood restaurant, all the items are very well made without any MSG.There are some very healthy items --Seven Seas Rice / Gluten Free ---Salad with Brown & wild rice, pine nuts, seaweed etc. I couldnt eat any of them individually but these items together perfectly blended into salad.Appetizer -- cauliflower wings -- Mockup of buffalo wings -- This item is good but I felt they should have cooked even more.Pad Thai -- Instead of stir fried regular noodles, it felt more like ramen noodles.Opera cake -- This dessert was delicious with layers of chocolate.cheese cake -- We didnt like this dessert.Overall this is a great Vegetarian restaurant that must be on your list.

Ramen Hajime
5229 Stevens Creek Blvd, Santa Clara, CA 95051, United States
My wife and I ate here a few nights ago. On the whole, we were very impressed, and plan to return. As we often do, we decided to share everything. We had a beer, the Kawaba Sunrise Ale, listed on the menu as Kawaba Snow Ale. I dont know what the difference is, but we both really liked the Sunrise Ale. It has a gentle bitterness that didnt turn my wife off. Very pleasant. (Im still trying to get used to the idea of paying $8 for a bottle of beer.)For starters, we had Fried Hiroshima Oyster, Hotate w/ Garlic Butter, and Uni Crostini. For our main, we had the Takeoka Style Ramen. And for dessert, we had the Matcha Tiramisu.Im not a big fan of oysters in any form, so we ordered them mainly for my wife. But I decided to try one anyway. It was, by far, the best fried oyster I ever had. Very crispy / crunchy exterior. Oyster was hot and moist and not overcooked. Tender. I never thought Id say it, but that oyster was yummy. I had a second. :-)The Hotate (Scallops), Im not a big fan. I found them to be somewhat overcooked and chewy. Not super overcooked; just somewhat. My wife liked them, though. The Uni Crostini. Hmm. This appetizer was $23, and based on the ingredients, thats not really an unfair price. The uni was delightful, fresh, and delicate -- really a high point. But they were not actually sitting on toast; more like warm bread. So the bread was on the chewy side rather than on the crunchy side, which would have been a nice textural contrast with the delicate uni. And then we have the sprinkling of Parmesan cheese. I understand that their thing is to be a fusion restaurant, but Parmesan really makes a statement, and we felt that it actually subtracted from the uni. Again, the uni itself was terrific. But for us, the concept and execution didnt do the uni justice. The Takeoka Ramen was really good. The broth had a wonderful deep flavor. The meat was super tender and flavorful. The noodles were delicious and with great texture. Id certainly have this again. The only thing Id do differently next time is to ask for half as much yellow onion. When I got towards the end of the bowl, I still had a lot of yellow onion pieces in each spoonful of broth, and they tended to overpower. The Tiramisu was a really interesting end to the meal. We hadnt planned to order it, but it was brought over complimentary. Im not normally a fan of tiramisu, because I dont particularly like the strong coffee flavor in my dessert. Using matcha instead of coffee was, for me, a good improvement on the classic dish. Im more of a fan or European dessert than Asian dessert, but if in a group having dessert, Id order it and enjoy it.The service was very friendly and efficient. Ice water (we requested) was provided in a small glass pitcher, and that was replaced as it neared empty. The ramen arrived before we were even halfway through our appetizers. Im frequently surprised by the pacing at many asian restaurants. This appears to be one where you might hold off on ordering the ramen until nearly done with the appetizers.I think that doing fusion cuisine is really challenging. I feel that The Place has made a really good start at it. My only real critique of that aspect is the pairing of delicate flavored ingredients (uni and scallop) with strong ingredients (Parmesan and garlic, respectively) which tended to overpower the former. But they are doing enough very well here that its worth going, and returning to.
Lock Chun Restaurant
4495 Stevens Creek Blvd, Santa Clara, CA 95051, United States
Stumbled on this gem by accident and it couldnt have been any better. The staff was kind, friendly and attentive. The food was absolutely amazing and portions were quite generous! We ordered the following:.Creme cheese won tons: They were deliciously crispy and filled with a very rich cream cheese filling. You could definitely taste the scallions which I personally love..Hunan chicken: Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, tossed in an amazing hunan sauce. Not spicy despite the peppers. Couldnt get enough of it, I literally had to stop myself from just continuing to eat until I was finished.. Combination chow main: We decided on chicken and beef, again an amazing choice. The noodles were exceptionally prepared in a great sauce, they didnt need any soy sauce or anything, they were perfect. The beef was tender but not soggy, cooked to perfection.Im obsessed with this place, looks like they do a lot of take-out so dont hesitate to try it out! I will definitely be back, best Chinese restaurant Ive found in the area!
