This is the BEST Chinese food in Elk Grove hands down. I am a Chinese food enthusiast and well as a hot and sour soup enthusiast. Ive had hot and sour soup from Chinese restaurants in 8 different states and 2 continents. And the soup (and food) from this restaraunt are tied for 1st place with the best Ive ever had. DO NOT make the mistake of not trying this place. The people are very friendly and welcoming. Which as you know if youve been to enough Chinese restaurants doesnt always happen. Either you get good food and poor service. Or you get good service and poor food. This place has EXCELLENT food and great service. You have to try it.

The reality is, every moment a visitor interacts with your establishment, leads to judgment about your brand Journey to the Dumpling. Yvonne, it is nice to meet you again. Today, I cant express in words how I felt standing there becoming subtly impatient only to then watch a sitting customer, standup then walks over to where I was standing and get the attention of your staff just by her standing beside me. The situation was escalated the moment your employee came to the front and assisted her instead. He then completed her financial transaction while my order sat right beside him on the to-go table. Still, he didnt take the opportunity to greet me as I was disregarded when he quickly returned to his other duties at the far side of the restaurant. Everyone pays attention to the front of the establishment, thats where the door is as well as your cash register.In your reply, you mentioned that your staff was consumed with finishing up a busy lunch service preparing for a busy dinner service. You clarified why I was purposefully ignored. Not by one of your staff members but by each of them that walked by and interacted with the front register area where I was standing. However, it does not clarify why another person was assisted during my wait and not me.The marginalization of some groups dilutes the beauty and centrality of Elk Grove as a whole, as it excludes groups due to race, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, physical ability, and/or immigration status who want to be treated as normal people.I am NOT asking you to give me what I want, how I want it, at the lowest price, extra fast and make me feel special, or Ill buy from someone else. I am simply asking for the same attention to detail everyone wants during your available business hours. As I am a very reasonable consumer and local business owner right here in Elk Grove, there will be another opportunity for me to update my experience with your establishment Journey to Dumpling.

This is our favorite restaurant in Elk Grove, hands down. We eat here regularly and have loved every dish. Its the freshest Chinese food Ive ever had, it doesnt feel heavy at all. The best part is that they can make almost every dish gluten-free, which is especially amazing for a Chinese restaurant. I was able to eat dumplings for the first time in almost a decade! Everything is made fresh, so it can take a bit for the food to come out and it is worth the wait. Staff is always very friendly and the Boba is delicious. Im so glad we have this fantastic, non-chain restaurant in Elk Grove!

First time to check out this Chinese restaurant located West side Elk Grove. The food is above average. They have BBQ food like roast duck and breakfast food like 粥 & 肠粉. The price is great. The service is good. Its next to Costco so that everyone can come for a lunch or dinner! I am very happy about this restaurant in the neighborhood and I like to come often.

This use to be my favorite Chinese restaurant when I lived in Elk Grove. Dined with 2 friends recently. Food was still good and I don’t think they raised their prices considerably but portions are much smaller than it use to be. Won’t dine there again…disappointed!

Joy City in Elk Grove has recently changed ownership. They have dim sum now and the kitchen items are much better than before.I was here twice for dinner in the last week. I havent tried their dim sum yet. So this review is mainly for their kitchen dishes and services.I received a nice greeting on both visits and was seated right away without waiting. The dining room is pretty much the same as before. They didnt have a major remodel after the new management.The food is much better than before. I loved the Braised Sliced Pork Belly with Preserved Mustard Vegetables the best on my first visit and a few more dishes. The Pork Stomach with Black Pepper, Gingko, Bean Curd Skim Soup is almost remarkable. I ordered on my 2nd visit too!I like their food. Im glad we have one more excellent Chinese restaurant in my hometown. Most choices are better.The parking lot is safe and easy to get a parking space near the restaurant. Im sure I will come more often now!

Don't EVER buy their food just before closing. I went in there 20 minutes before they were going to close and they had five items left and one case. They said they were no longer cooking for the night and they were cleaning. I said well that's fine.There was hardly any food left in all five containers. I asked if they could put a little extra on the plate they refused. Hi, I also asked if I could get the shrimp and not have to pay the extra $1.50 and they said no.I can't be for sure, but I thought that by the end of the night they throw the rest of their food away. I surely don't mind paying for my food but what bothered me the most was I took my food straight home and all of the chicken items were as hard as a rock. Those items had been sitting for a very long time before anyone else had came in to purchase a plate. The food was not good at all. I'm very disappointed, and the lady that waited on me was not the friendliest either. Just beware if you eat at this location because at the end of the night you're going to eat garbage for dinner.
