Olive Garden Italian Restaurant
585 I St, Chula Vista, CA 91910, United States
A friend of mine gave me a gift card to olive garden and I decided to invite my mother to go there for lunch . Im actually not the biggest fan of Italian food but I really do like the soup and salad combo for lunch at the Olive Garden and my mother does also so we went to the location nearest to my house in Chula Vista. I was very surprised by the atmosphere inside. It was around 1:00 pm and the restaurant was quite busy. The manager was who greeted us and there was a friendly guy who took us to our table. I love the space between the different seating whether be booth or table. Cozy and quiet but not secluded. A lady across from where we sat, at a booth, was dining alone and reading a book. Gives you an idea that the surroundings are serene enough for her to read. Our waiter was Pablo. Young and great personality! He had several tables around us but was excellent with his ability to multitask his service to each group or guest. We both ordered soup and salad. I never dreamed the soup would be SO DELICIOUS!!! Some chicken in white cream sauce. Wow!!! Pablo brought our lunch quickly and he was delightful in his sense of humor and was very attentive. My mother who can sometimes be kinda critical in how she rates servers was also impressed with Pablo. When I went to pay with my gift card at the table, there were issues and Pablo was helpful and also was unable to process the gift card at the table so he went off and tended to the process elsewhere. I had no cash and me and my mother was responsible for Pablos tip where she gave him $5.00 I have worked in restaurants and actually see that gesture of $5 for his tip as a sign of dissatisfaction. I hope this young man did not feel insulted but we were VERY HAPPY AND PLEASED beyond our expectations with the entire visit. To whomever reads this review I RECOMMEND NOT ONLY THE OLIVE GARDEN RESTAURANT BUT SPECIFICALLY THIS LOCATION IN CHULA VISTA MALL FOR LUNCH OR DINNER. I wasnt expecting lunch with Mama to be so delightful. Thanks and shout out to my friend DAVID CUNNINGHAM for the amazing gesture of friendship to bless my mother and myself with the gift card. May God bless all who are a blessing to others. Pablo included!!!

My friend & I went to the Olive Garden for an early dinner. We were seated right away. I ordered what I typically order which is The Tour Of Italy. The entree consists of a serving of Lasagna, Fettuccini Alfredo & Chicken Parmesan, plus your choice of side soup/salad & soft warm bread sticks. The salad/soup & the bread sticks are all u can eat. I ordered the soup which is either Minestrone/Chicken Gnocchi. I went w/the Chicken Gnocchi. Its my favorite soup from the restaurant. For those of u that dont know what this soup is I would compare it to a Chicken & Dumpling soup meets Cream of Chicken, but much more tasty. Our waitress was very attentive.until the people seated behind us began to complain about something in which they got the manager involved. During this time our waitress disappeared for around half an hour. All I wanted was a box for my leftovers & the bill. That is my only real complaint. The food was good although I couldnt finish it.
Olive Garden Italian Restaurant

For context: Recently went here to celebrate my birthday with my family. Ive had that tradition for many years now so this definitely wasnt my first time here.Wait:As a party of 9 on a Thursday it was a 30 minute wait though we were told it would be 45 minutes. So the wait was not terrible.Service:It felt like our server didnt come by often enough but that may just be my own bias speaking. When he asked if we wanted cheese on our soups we all said yes except for one person but he then handed out the soups with no cheese on any of them. No idea where his brain was at. Later he provided the salad but didnt even ask if we wanted cheese. Very unusual experience for Olive Garden. Wine wasnt offered as it usually is either.Food:Something is different about the recipes or the chef because the zuppa Toscana was slightly spicier and the chicken gnocchi tasted like nothing. The garlic bread was stale and had no flavor either and our whole table was in agreement about it that. Even worse, the sausage in the zuppa Toscana looked undercooked. Ive had it several times and have even made it many times at home so I could tell the sausage was way too pink. To top it off, the first soup I got had a hair in it. By the end of it, I gave up and only ate the salad. No one at our table actually ate their soups because we all agreed they had no taste.Atmosphere:You cant find real fine dining in the AV but this is a nice pretend place if you are poor and want to pretend to be fancy. The environment is still loud and you still hear happy birthday songs being sung every hour so it is what it is. Additionally, you can tell the building has been running its course because if you just look up there are numerous wood panels that are warped and not aligned correctly. I suspect water damage but it might be something else.Overall:It was a huge disappointment and Im definitely not coming here for my birthday again. Something about this place has changed...maybe not overnight but in all these years its just gotten so trashy and the quality of the food just isnt the same anymore.
Panera Bread

When did Panera become self service? We went there for dinner and instead of an employee bringing us our food, we had to go up to the counter to get it! And to add insult to injury, the cashier asked us to bus our own tables??!! We ordered 2 Pick Two sandwich/soup or salad combos, a side cup of soup and two large drinks. I am older with some difficulty walking (cane) and I had to go back and forth 3 times to get our food, plus another handful of times to refill drinks, etc. And the total was $43.00! Then they ask (suggest) for a tip before you complete your card transaction. For what? No server, no busboy, nothing! The food was okay. Yes, I understand that restaurants are having a hard time finding workers, but if you are going to expect self service from your patrons, you should reduce your pricing accordingly. $3.50 for a large soft drink! $43 for what we ordered is way too much for what you have to go through at this place. I am not returning unless something changes!

I used to really enjoy Panera but their prices have gotten so high for a self service restaurant. Almost 18.00 for soup and salad and no beverage. For a couple dollars more I can go to a full service restaurant and not have to stand in line, pick up my own order while hoping no one takes my table and then bus my table when I am done. Honestly I should have left myself a tip.?
Tasty Mandarin

This place is delicious and worth every penny. It was late at night, my wife and four kids were hungry, we were staying at a campground not too far away, looked up Chinese Food and this popped up. From the outside we were a little sketched out at first. No customers were parked out front and the line from Yoshinoya made it difficult to get to, we were close to following the crowd there, but were so hungry waiting in that line would not have helped. Once we got our food we realized we made the correct decision. This place is AMAZING and FRESH and DELICIOUS. Staff was super helpful in helping us decide what some of their best dishes are and what appealed most to our kids. EVERYTHING was cooked PERFECTLY and even our young kids ate up their plates. Go here, don't go anywhere else, you'll be missing out.
Agave Coffee & Caf
303 H St, Chula Vista, CA 91910, United States
My wife and I visited the bank that is next door to Agave Coffee and Cafe and decided to give it a try for the first time. I ordered their biggest iced tea that they had to offer for which I was charged $3.53. When they gave it to me the cup looked small when compared to other competitors similar large iced tea offerings. I asked the waitress if it was really the largest cup and she confirmed it. The size of the cup according to their menu is 20 ounces. One thing that irritated me was not the small cup vs price ratio but the fact that they filled it with around 50% ice and the rest was the actual tea. It felt like I finished it soon after I started drinking it. Later that same day I visited one of Agaves competitors and ordered a large iced tea. The size of their cup was 30 ounces and the ice vs tea ratio was around 10% ice and 90% tea. The cup was huge and I was only charged $3.45 for it. I was charged 8 cents less than agave on a larger cup with less ice and a ton more tea. Better value in my mind. I must be fair and say that I cannot form an opinion on Agave in general just on a one time visit but for now that is my first impression and it was not good. In my mind value is almost as important as service and the quality of the product. Hopefully on my second try ordering different food items (not ordering tea anymore) my review of Agave improves.
California Pizza Kitchen at Otay Ranch Town Center

Right at the Otay Ranch shopping mall this restaurant stands out in their service and quality ingredients. The bread, soups and salads are really good. A bit pricey.
Panera Bread
2015 Birch Rd Suite 2800, Chula Vista, CA 91915, United States
Panera is panera, a lil over priced, but decent enough. It passes the bar. Came and tried their new green goddess sandwhich. On a long piece of bread set 3 thunly slices of tomato, a smithering of arugula, couldnt even see the mozzarella. It was so pathetic looking i brought to the attention of the servers. One young woman was generally interested, another was grumpy and pointed to the two small slices hiding under the tomato. The tomato was paper thin to begin with, and to be able to hide mozzarella under it, is quite a feat! The mac n cheese with brocolli was coldish and clumpy. Not a piece of brocolli to be found, only the little leaves scattered through out the clump of noodles and coldish sauce. Customer service was terrible, though flavor was good, presentation and quality was short or acceptable. But if the employee finds no problem, then what can you do, besides make a big stink? This is my response, to call out poor service and poor quality. Which isnt normally the norm here. I. Surprised. Is there a new manager? Ugh..i am tempted to not cime back, but my group of friends enjoy it here.UPDATEThough products will never look like their advertising, there has been a noticeable change in service and response. Food is now apporpriately hot/warm, and kitchen staff are willing to assist. Panera followed through with contacting me, listening to me and responding by offering more training to their staff. I am impressed!

Generally, I avoid chain restaurants but Panera Bread is one that I enjoy going to when traveling. The food is fresh and the menu has enough variety to meet just about anyones needs except vegan. For me, the Harvest Squash soup is a must have when available. The soup combined with a half sandwich from the Pick-Two menu makes a great reasonably priced lunch. I know that they promote their bread but getting a piece of bread as an accompaniment to a sandwich seems like over-kill.
